Chapter 335: Chapter 213: Chance Encounter
"Who exactly are you?"
Su Xing asked, his tone exceptionally serious.
The old director simply looked at Su Xing with his usual cheerful smile. "I went away for a bit, and now Su doesn’t recognize me?"
"Of course I do."
"You just don’t feel as familiar."
Su Xing could see the old director meant him no harm. His guard didn’t drop by much, but he decided to talk to the man. At the very least, he needed to find out why the director had suddenly appeared before him.
"Hahaha, the little guy is pretty on his guard. Honestly, I really had no idea you were a Martial Artist all this time, Su. How did you manage to hide it from me?"
The old director said with a laugh. His tone remained level, without the slightest hint of a threat toward Su Xing, but the aura faintly emanating from him made Su Xing feel as if he’d been plunged into an ice cave.
’He’s stronger than Li Longxuan!’
Yes, the old director was a powerhouse stronger than even Li Longxuan. And a powerhouse like that doesn’t just appear out of nowhere.
This almost instantly gave Su Xing a few guesses about the man’s identity.
But that sliver of a guess made Su Xing’s face turn pale. A cold sweat beaded on his forehead from the pressure. ’Why would he be here?’
"Heh, don’t be so tense, Su."
"I didn’t expect to run into you when I came here. I just wanted to come back and see what’s become of the Sword Hall I gave away. A real shame, it seems."
The old director said, chuckling.
"..."
Hearing the old director mention the past, some of the tension in Su Xing’s heart eased. He just said earnestly:
"Director, as you know, the world hasn’t exactly been peaceful lately. It’s been hard to keep this Sword Hall running like before. But I’ve still been holding all the students’ classes as usual."
"Of course I know. Those brats from the Martial God Hall are constantly stirring up trouble, making a mess of the world."
The old director said, sounding somewhat helpless.
Su Xing frowned. The old director’s words did little to hide his true identity. In fact, it sounded more like he was also helpless in the face of what was happening at the Martial God Hall.
"Old Director..."
"Are you really the Martial God from the Martial God Hall?"
Su Xing hesitated for a long time, but ultimately couldn’t suppress his burning curiosity and asked the question aloud.
Hearing Su Xing’s question, the old director made no effort to hide the truth. He merely glanced at Su Xing, took a quiet sip of his tea, and said with a smile:
"Didn’t you figure it out long ago?"
"..."
Su Xing’s heart trembled. He had guessed as much, but having it confirmed gave him an indescribable feeling.
The Martial God Hall... a faction that had clashed with Su Xing on multiple occasions. ’Even if there were good people among them, none had ever shown him any kindness.’
And yet,
the legendary Martial God of the Martial God Hall,
the man who hadn’t shown his face in public since founding the Martial God Hall,
the supreme Martial Artist whose Martial Dao was so profound he could single-handedly suppress everyone in the Martial God Hall... Su Xing could never have imagined that this figure was the same old director he had known since first setting foot on the Extraordinary Path.
"Yes."
"I’d already guessed when I got here. I just wanted to hear you admit it yourself."
Su Xing said calmly.
’For the old director to be willing to sit and talk with him like this, to even reveal something so important, meant one of two things: either he had no intention of letting Su Xing leave the Sword Hall alive, or he still saw Su Xing as his apprentice.’
Whichever it was, there was no longer any need for Su Xing to be nervous. He reverted to his usual calm demeanor, though his right hand was ready to summon the Black Sword at a moment’s notice.
’If it really came to a fight, Su Xing couldn’t afford to be unprepared.’
Seeing Su Xing’s posture, the old director seemed to feel the swift passage of time. He spread his hands and said:
"Su."
"I’d like to think I look rather friendly."
"There’s no need to be so wary of me, is there?"
"..."
"Old Director, you’re the one who taught me: when facing an incredibly powerful Swordsman, you must always watch their sword and their hands."
Su Xing said seriously, "Old Director, can you just tell me the truth? Why are you really here?"
It wasn’t that Su Xing was being paranoid. The old director had been good to him back when he was at the Sword Hall, but he had also hidden so much. No one could guarantee what his true intentions were.
Moreover,
the power gap between them was immense.
Without enough caution, if the old director were to suddenly strike, Su Xing might not even be able to react in time. His situation would become incredibly perilous.
"Sigh."
"So suspicious for someone so young."
The old director sighed helplessly. Then, with a light flick of his finger toward Su Xing, a strand of Sword Qi shot out. Su Xing saw it, but at his mere sixth-rank realm, he was far too slow. He had no chance to react!
But the scene he expected—of Sword Qi piercing through him, blood splattering, and his body falling to the ground—never happened.
Instead, Su Xing was completely unharmed.
Just as the incoming Sword Qi was about to reach his head, it suddenly shattered, transforming into streams of information that flooded into his mind.
In an instant, a vast and intricate web of memories appeared in Su Xing’s mind. He couldn’t help but let out a muffled groan, but thankfully, the pain quickly subsided.
When Su Xing came to, the old director was gone. The teacup before him had been neatly put away. It seemed he had been unconscious for some time.
