Swordsmanship Coach: Kill with One Slash
Chapter 337 - 214: Transaction
Chapter 337: Chapter 214: Transaction
New Luocheng Airport.
The plane from Cang City slowly descended. All around, passengers who had been seated for a long time unbuckled their seatbelts, ready to disembark.
But Su Xing remained seated. He touched his chest, feeling the hard, rectangular box there. It was the urn containing the ashes of the Lord of Luo City, which Su Xing had retrieved from the Secret Realm. The secondary goal of this trip was to lay him to rest in his homeland.
’Heh, he said he’d grant me his legacy. I wonder what it could be.’
Su Xing recalled the sight of the Lord of Luo City and the words he had spoken. Chuckling silently to himself, he rose from his seat and followed the other passengers off the plane.
The moment he stepped off the plane, a cacophony of noise and a biting wind rushed toward him as if they’d found an opening.
But Su Xing’s expression remained calm as he walked alone toward the exit. Once he was out of the airport, he hailed a taxi, got in, and asked:
"Sir, do you know how to get to the public cemetery around here?"
"The public cemetery...?"
The driver seemed startled by Su Xing’s question. He sized up the young man carefully before asking with earnest concern:
"Young man, you don’t look like you’re from Luocheng. You just got here, why go to a cemetery instead of visiting the sights?"
"..."
After a moment’s thought, Su Xing took out the special organization ID Li Longxuan had given him. He held it up for the driver to see and said:
"Official business. Uninvolved parties shouldn’t ask too many questions."
Cang City Special Organization.
Name: Su Xing.
Li Longxuan had included it with Su Xing’s onboarding gift, along with an office key and various other credentials.
Ordinarily, Su Xing would have had to waste his breath explaining, but as soon as he produced the ID, the driver immediately stopped asking questions and sped off toward Luocheng’s only public cemetery.
However, he was still a little confused.
Cang City was very far from Luocheng. Even though planes made the trip quick now, why would someone from Cang City be on a mission in Luocheng?
But he was, after all, just a regular citizen. Despite his curiosity, he didn’t dare ask any more questions.
Su Xing glanced at the driver but didn’t say anything more either. What he had to do was simply too difficult to explain, making his official identification the most convenient tool.
Soon, the taxi arrived in front of the public cemetery.
This was the first time Su Xing had ever been this close to a cemetery for as long as he could remember. He had never been to a place like this before.
The cemetery was a massive, white structure. Looking in from the outside, he could see row after row of what looked like cabinets filled with numerous small compartments.
"This is the public cemetery?" Su Xing asked, stunned. He turned his head to the driver, who was about to leave.
This...
This was nothing like what he had imagined.
In Su Xing’s mind, a cemetery should be made up of one headstone after another, not rows of cabinets like this. It didn’t look like a cemetery at all.
"Yeah."
The driver said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world:
"After that disaster, the livable area in Luocheng got smaller and smaller, so we have to save space wherever we can. That’s why the cemeteries ended up like this."
"If you want to inter someone, you just buy a spot and put the urn inside. The deceased’s name will be displayed on it afterward."
Su Xing nodded in understanding.
He suddenly remembered Li Longxuan mentioning the name ’New Luocheng’ when talking about Luocheng. He guessed that some disaster must have destroyed a large part of the original city.
But back then, Cang City was still keeping things under wraps, so Su Xing hadn’t known about the incident. However...
The Lord of Luo City,
was a man from an ancient era, after all.
’Would putting him in one of these cabinets truly count as returning his soul to his homeland?’
Or,
’should he be buried in the earth?’
"Thanks."
Su Xing said gratefully. Then he asked the driver, "Do you know if there’s any way to have someone buried in the ground?"
"..."
"You mean, you want to set up a proper gravestone."
The driver clearly understood what Su Xing meant, but he shook his head and said:
"Officer, I don’t know. I’m just a regular guy, I wouldn’t know about things like that."
"Alright."
Su Xing nodded. He didn’t say anything more. After getting out and paying the fare, he let the driver leave. Then, he walked over to the cemetery’s notice board, but it only listed rules and precautions—not the information he was looking for.
"Um, hello, are you here to reserve a spot for the deceased?"
A young woman’s voice suddenly sounded from beside Su Xing. Dressed in a work uniform, she stood next to him with her hands clasped behind her back, looking at him as she asked.
"Yes."
Only when she spoke did Su Xing notice someone had approached. Ordinary people lacked an Extraordinary aura, which, to an Extraordinary Being, actually made them less conspicuous than other Extraordinary Beings.
Because his attention wasn’t focused, he hadn’t noticed her at all. It was only when she spoke that Su Xing realized a cemetery employee was standing beside him.
"Have you decided on a location yet?"
The young woman asked again:
"To make a reservation, we need to confirm the identity of the deceased beforehand. Did you bring an identification card or some other form of proof?"
