Chapter 471: Chapter 470: You Can’t Kill Me

When the President looked up again, it saw the figure clad in blood.

Seraphina Sinclair wore a smile, the Moon-Tracking Blade clutched tightly in her hand. In that moment, the President found her refined and striking features more terrifying than the Ashenbone Lord itself.

It opened its mouth, wanting to say something, but found it couldn’t even make a sound.

Seraphina Sinclair started walking toward it.

Her steps were slow. The tip of her Moon-Tracking Blade dragged on the ground, scraping across the fractured metal plates with a piercing screech.

"You..."

The President opened its mouth, but the single word "You" was all it managed before Seraphina Sinclair’s movement cut it off.

Seraphina Sinclair’s long blade was already pressed against the President’s chest, though she wasn’t sure if a beating heart lay within.

Hearing that word, she tilted her head, looking at the President like it was a cornered rat.

"You what?" she asked.

The President’s lips trembled, its back pressed tightly against the shattered wall. Its fingers were still unconsciously tapping useless options on its panel.

"You... you can’t kill me..." it finally managed to squeeze out.

Seraphina Sinclair raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"

"I am the President of the Coliseum! I have backers!" The President’s voice grew shrill, as if it were grasping at its last straw. "Do you know who owns this Coliseum? Do you know how many supporters I have behind me? If you kill me, it won’t end well for you!"

Seraphina Sinclair raised an eyebrow, the corners of her mouth still lifted high. Before the President could decipher her expression, it suddenly snapped upright.

The long blade pressed against its chest had pushed a fraction of an inch deeper.

With just a little more force, Seraphina Sinclair could run it straight through.

The President’s teeth chattered. It finally realized that its authority had truly vanished.

At this moment, there was only one way for it to survive.

Seraphina Sinclair had to choose not to kill it.

The President clenched its fists. Though its body trembled uncontrollably, it gritted its teeth, forcing its voice to steady, trying to sound more confident.

It said, "You can’t kill me. Those are the rules. You’re just a survivor... How dare you defy the rules?"

Seraphina Sinclair laughed.

It was a faint smile, the kind you give when you hear a joke that isn’t funny.

"Rules?" she repeated the word, and the tip of her blade pushed forward another half-inch.

SHRRRIP—

The President’s clothes were torn open, revealing the grayish-white skin beneath. The skin was covered in fine scales that shimmered faintly in the dim light of the Coliseum.

It was only then that Seraphina Sinclair realized this President wasn’t wearing a human skin at all.

This must be the skin of some species similar to humans, or perhaps the President’s own true form.

’After all, why would a non-human species that chose to wear a human guise harbor such intense hostility toward one of humanity’s finest?’

The President went rigid, its breathing stopping altogether.

"You’re talking to me about rules?" Seraphina Sinclair’s voice was soft, as if she were talking to herself. "When you broke the rules to summon a B+ monster, did you think about the rules then? When you planned to kill me along with all those spectators, did you think about the rules then?"

The President’s lips trembled, unable to form a reply.

"And now that you can’t beat me, you start talking about rules?" Seraphina Sinclair tilted her head, her eyes devoid of any mirth. "President, you sure know how to pick your moments."

The President took a deep breath, forcing its voice to steady. "I’m not lying to you. This really is a rule. If you dare to kill me, *they* will not let you live."

Its voice had steadied, but its eyes couldn’t lie.

That deep, utterly unconcealable fear.

"They?" Seraphina Sinclair asked. "Who are they?"

The President didn’t answer.

The tip of Seraphina Sinclair’s blade pushed forward another half-inch.

This time, the tip pierced the layer of grayish-white scales, and a trickle of dark red liquid seeped from the wound.

The President shuddered violently, finally breaking.

"It’s... it’s the true masters of the Black Mist Coliseum!" it shrieked. "The real powerhouses! I’m just an agent they selected! If you kill me, they will never let you live! The moment you act, you’re a dead woman! They will avenge me, and you will die a miserable death!"

"Is that so?" Seraphina Sinclair raised an eyebrow and asked lightly, as if she didn’t believe the President’s words at all.

Just as the President’s dangling hands began to tremble again, Seraphina Sinclair pulled her blade back.

She said in a pleasant tone, "Oh, so your backing is that powerful. You should have said so earlier."

The President froze. The joy of surviving and a nascent disdain for the human before it had barely registered when a sharp pain shot through its chest.

It looked down in disbelief at the long blade that had just run it through the chest.

"You... you weren’t..."

Seraphina Sinclair withdrew her blade and took a cloth from her Silver Moon Earrings.

Wiping the foul-smelling green blood from her blade, she looked up to meet the President’s incredulous gaze.

She smiled and retorted, "Didn’t I let you go? You’re the one who didn’t run. What does that have to do with me? If those big shots behind you knew you were this useless, they’d probably be embarrassed, don’t you think?"

The President clutched its chest, but before it could say anything, the long blade plunged into its stomach.

This time, it couldn’t even remain standing. Its body collapsed to the ground, but its head was still raised, staring at Seraphina Sinclair with that same look of disbelief.

Seraphina Sinclair continued to wipe her blade. Meeting its gaze, she explained patiently, "Oh, I’m the type of person who likes to pull out the weeds, root and all. If you didn’t die, I’d be quite upset."

She flashed a brilliant smile. "So, my apologies, but it’s time for you to die."

Watching this unfold, the Gloom Hatchling felt a chill run down its spine.

It couldn’t understand what the two beings were saying, but the smile on its master’s face was simply terrifying.

The Gloom Hatchling gave a more pronounced shiver and shuffled a little farther away from Seraphina Sinclair.

The President opened its mouth, and more green blood gurgled up its throat. It wanted to speak but could no longer make a sound. It could only stare fixedly at Seraphina Sinclair with eyes that were gradually losing focus, as if trying to burn her face into its very soul and drag it down to hell.

Seraphina Sinclair met its gaze, her smile unwavering.

"Don’t look at me like that," she said, her voice light and airy. "When you summoned the Ashenbone Lord, you weren’t exactly planning to leave my body intact, were you?"

The President’s pupils contracted violently, and then, just as quickly, began to dilate.

Its body convulsed twice, then finally went still.

Seraphina Sinclair withdrew her gaze and continued to wipe her blade.

A moment later, a panel suddenly popped up before her.

[Special NPC Merchant Association President has been killed! The position is now vacant. Please select a member from your faction to take over within one minute!]

Seraphina Sinclair’s hand, which was wiping the blade, paused.

She glanced down at the corpse on the ground, still oozing green blood, then looked up at the translucent panel in front of her and blinked.
