Chapter 472: Chapter 471: The New President

Wait.

Seraphina Sinclair suddenly realized something very important.

’So these special NPCs can be killed?! And after you kill them, one of your own people can take over the vacant position?!’

At that moment, Seraphina Sinclair finally understood why 001 had been so scared back then.

’He was genuinely terrified of dying in her mobile cottage.’

[Countdown: 00:40]

[Countdown: 00:39]

The countdown waited for no one. Seraphina Sinclair immediately opened the list of candidates.

She had originally thought the list would only contain the waiter, Little Mushroom, 001, and Gray. To her surprise, in addition to those four, there was an incredibly detailed list of humans—from every survivor in Zone 001 of Dolorum to every survivor in Zone 001 of Virensis.

Right here, Seraphina Sinclair was looking at a complete list of every human!

She fell silent, staring at the list for a moment before realizing this was no time for contemplation.

Only ten seconds remained on the countdown.

Seraphina Sinclair made her choice instantly—Traveling Merchant 001!

’He survived so many rounds to become 001, so his skills must be sharp, right?’

’In that case, being the president shouldn’t be a problem for him.’

The moment her choice took effect, the panel froze for a second before dissolving into specks of light and reforming into a new one.

[Identity verification passed! You have recommended a very suitable president for the Traveling Merchants’ Association!]

’Are there unsuitable ones?’

The rag was soaked in a foul-smelling green fluid. Seraphina Sinclair frowned and tossed it onto the president’s corpse.

"Let’s go," she said, glancing at the Gloom Hatchling before heading toward the exit of The Coliseum.

Behind her, the president’s body lay in the rubble, green blood slowly pooling around it.

In the stands, the creatures that hadn’t managed to escape exchanged glances, none daring to make a sound.

Only after Seraphina Sinclair’s figure disappeared through the exit did someone speak, their voice trembling.

"She... she really killed the president?"

"Obviously. Didn’t you see it?"

"But didn’t the president say he had backing?"

"Backing?" another creature sneered. "No matter how strong your backing is, you have to be alive to enjoy it. Besides, have you ever seen a powerful figure offend a species’ Life Star for a dead agent?"

The crowd fell silent.

That... actually made a lot of sense.

Standing at the exit, Seraphina Sinclair was still looking for a way out when a new panel popped up in front of her.

[Abnormal situation detected in the D-level Black Mist Coliseum! Exit?!]

Seraphina Sinclair: "..."

’I already took care of the abnormality, and now this stupid panel decides to show up?’

"Exit," she said irritably.

[Exiting D-level Black Mist Coliseum...]

[Exit successful.]

A flash of light, and Seraphina Sinclair found herself standing inside her mobile cottage.

Before she could even steady herself, several panels popped up in front of her.

At the same time, several Lightgates appeared in the center of the mobile cottage.

Before Seraphina Sinclair could figure out what was happening, she heard Gray’s booming voice, "Boss! Boss! You killed the Merchant Association President?!"

Seraphina Sinclair rubbed her ears, which were ringing from the shouting, and looked toward the Lightgates.

In the first Lightgate, Gray’s large face was practically pressed against the frame, his three eyes wide as bells. ’Unbelievable’ was written all over his face. The waiter stood behind him, looking perfectly deferential.

Little Mushroom squeezed out of the second Lightgate, but before it could say anything, it saw Gray and immediately scuttled back in fright.

In the last Lightgate was the star of this great and happy occasion—001.

He looked exhausted, his hair a mess and his clothes smudged with dust from who-knows-where, but his eyes were shining with astonishing brightness.

"Boss!" he shouted the moment he appeared. "I have great news!"

Seraphina Sinclair raised an eyebrow. "What is it?"

scampered over, plopped down on a stone stool, grabbed a cup of water from the table, and GULP, GULP, GULPed down several mouthfuls before letting out a long breath.

"That was exhausting," he said, wiping his mouth. Then his eyes lit up again. "But Boss, the profits are huge!"

Seraphina Sinclair gestured for him to continue.

started counting on his fingers. "The simple water filter blueprints—I’ve promoted them in three water-scarce Zones, with a guaranteed minimum of two hundred rentals per day in each Zone! The Black Fog Crystal Energy Storage Lamp blueprints are even more popular; almost every Zone is scrambling for them! And I’ve also found one or two suitable Zones to rent out the other blueprints!"

The more he spoke, the more excited he became, his little face flushing red. "Boss, guess how much income these blueprints will bring us in a month?"

Seeing his expression, Seraphina Sinclair thought for a moment and decided to guess high. "Two hundred thousand?"

shook his head.

"Three hundred thousand?"

shook his head again, then held up five fingers and said, enunciating every word, "A guaranteed minimum of... five! Hundred! Thousand!"

Seraphina Sinclair’s eyebrows shot up.

’Five hundred thousand?’

’In one month?’

That was far more than she had expected.

Seeing her silence, 001 thought she didn’t believe him and quickly explained, "Boss, and that’s a conservative estimate! Once our reputation is established, more and more people will want to rent them! Getting to seven or eight hundred thousand a month won’t be a problem! We’ve really struck it rich this time!"

Seraphina Sinclair nodded, the corners of her lips slowly turning up.

"Good work."

Hearing this, 001’s eyes grew even brighter. He puffed out his small chest, his expression practically begging for more praise.

Seraphina Sinclair was about to say something when Gray shoved 001 aside. "Stop acting all high and mighty! Boss! I’m just as good! I could’ve been the Merchant Association President too!"

’What’s this about?’

’Are they starting to compete now?’

The waiter stood behind Gray with a soft smile on his face, watching Seraphina Sinclair quietly, as if to say, ’See? I knew this day would come.’

Seraphina Sinclair returned the smile, then turned to Gray. She pushed him back a little. "Don’t be impatient. I’m sure there will be a position in the future that only you are suited for."

Even though it was just an empty promise for now, Gray was placated by her words.

He nodded in satisfaction, his tentacles even bobbing a few times in agreement.

It was only then that 001 realized something was off. "Merchant Association President? What? Isn’t the Merchant Association President that arrogant guy from the Greyscale Clan? What are you all talking about?"

Before Seraphina Sinclair could speak, Gray turned back, glared at 001 with all three of his eyes, and snorted. "Did you just close the pop-up notification on your face again? You don’t know what happened, do you? Well then, allow me to graciously inform you that you! Are now! The Merchant Association President!"

froze.

The smug pride that had just been radiating from his little face was instantly frozen, as if a bucket of ice water had been dumped over his head.

"Wh-what?"

Gray grinned, revealing a mouthful of sharp teeth, his smile dripping with schadenfreude. "I said, you’re the Merchant Association President now! The very same president you used to have to deal with every day, the one who holds all the resources of the Traveling Merchants, the one who could make half of Dolorum tremble with a single stomp of his foot!"
