Supreme Swordsman System
Chapter 74 - A Pile of Scrap Paper
Chapter 74: 74 - A Pile of Scrap Paper
On the black wooden sign, so black that it couldn’t get any blacker, several golden words stood out prominently. The gold really looked like actual gold, not paint or any other metal.
As grand as the sign was, the wooden house was just as plain. At first glance, it looked like it hadn’t been built by anyone with much skill. It was more like a simple, improvised creation by people who kept asking AI questions while working.
"Surprised, aren’t you? This is where the finest handwritten cultivation manuals are kept."
Iris introduced it proudly. She looked so smug that you’d think she’d built the place herself and written every book inside it.
But King wasn’t paying attention to that right now. All his attention was focused on the name of this wooden house that looked far too simple and ordinary.
"You guys really call this place the Supreme Scripture Pavilion?"
King frowned at the sign instead of looking at her. The sign looked pretty old. Most likely, the place had been given this name from the very beginning, even when there weren’t many books inside.
"Of course. Pretty cool name, right? Anyway, this really is where the finest handwritten cultivation manuals are kept."
The more she spoke, the higher Iris held her head. By now, she was practically looking down her nose at everything.
Her proud arrogance left King a little confused. But he just assumed she was proud of her own home.
It wasn’t entirely wrong to call the entire massive academy Iris’s home, since she’d spent the past ten years around here whenever she wasn’t inside the tower.
Showing off how amazing her home was to others was perfectly normal for someone with her personality.
"If you’re going to give it such an arrogant name, why not build it a little better? This wooden house is clearly made from good wood, but the construction quality is terrible."
Even though the wood didn’t belong to King, he still felt it was a waste just looking at it.
In the hands of a true craftsman, materials this good could have become a masterpiece instead of this ordinary house.
"Hmph, what the hell do you know? This place has extremely tight security. Not just anyone can come in whenever they want. How could I let craftsmen build it for me?"
Suddenly, Iris let out a cold snort with a somewhat hostile attitude, leaving King confused. He looked at her, then at the wooden house... He understood now.
"Are you kidding me? How can someone like you know how to build houses?"
King stared at her with wide eyes. If she’d really built it herself, then it wasn’t bad.
By the standards of someone who didn’t know a damn thing about construction and just built whatever, this was already pretty good.
"Hmph, if you don’t know how to talk, then don’t talk. I just came up with the idea for this project on a whim and suggested it to them. They also agreed to let me handle the construction.
I didn’t have much free time, so I just threw it together. As for the sign, Adrian hired a professional to make it, which is why you can see such a huge difference between the two."
King’s casual remarks made Iris feel deeply humiliated. She felt as if he was looking down on her construction skills and sense of aesthetics.
After hearing her out, King looked around. Aside from a few trees and lightning rods, there was nothing else.
"If you came up with the idea, then giving it such an arrogant name makes sense. But you call this place highly secure? Even someone who can’t fly can climb up here. There are no guards, no defense system, not even any cameras."
Seeing how shallow King’s thinking was, Iris was still serious enough to explain why this place was safe, despite being rather annoyed.
"Do you really think anyone would dare come up here to secretly steal books or anything else? Aren’t all the authors here famous cultivators?
Anyone who wants to steal them must be weak, because the strong already know all this stuff. If they’re weak, would they still dare to brazenly steal something important from the academy?"
"Who are you calling weak?! Say that again if you dare, and see if I won’t cut you down. System!"
She was only explaining things, but she hadn’t expected King’s pride to be so fragile. After all, what she said wasn’t wrong, but the problem was that the person listening was King.
As soon as he shouted, the Heavenly Dao Sword immediately appeared in his hand. The veins on his forehead bulged, and his face darkened.
Judging by his look, he seemed to genuinely want to fight rather than just threaten her.
"Hey, it’s not that serious. I’m only talking about ordinary people. Have you ever been anything like an ordinary person?"
This time, Iris didn’t want to provoke King anymore. She felt she’d underestimated just how much King hated not being able to fly.
"Hmph!"
After putting the Heavenly Dao Sword back into his system space, King snorted coldly and opened the door to enter the wooden house. He wasn’t in the mood to keep talking to her anymore.
You dare call me weak? Hmph, even if you didn’t mean it, I can’t just let you off that easily. Otherwise, you’ll only get bolder.
The reason King was so confident was that he believed he’d find the books he needed as soon as he entered this small house. But when he looked around, he was stunned.
There were indeed a few bookshelves, but the books were piled up haphazardly. There were all kinds of things, such as notebooks, a few sheets of paper stuck together, and old blank exercise books that looked like they’d been picked up somewhere...
Their shapes and sizes followed no standard whatsoever, making this place look like a warehouse full of scrap paper waiting to be recycled.
Even if a thief broke in, they’d definitely curse and leave as soon as they saw this pile of scrap paper.
What value could these things possibly have? There was no way important books would be stored so carelessly like this.
"Damn it! You spend all that time writing books, but you can’t spare a few minutes to give them a title?"
While he was fumbling around, unsure where to start, Iris’s voice came from behind him.
"This place was originally built just for fun and to create a bit of that old-fashioned cultivation atmosphere. Do you really think we’re stupid enough to keep all our important knowledge here?"
