Chapter 73: 73 - Supreme Scripture Pavilion

After waiting for a long time, Iris appeared in front of King with an extremely punchable smile. That smug smile, as if she had already seen the future, made King unable to feel happy at all.

"Wouldn’t it have been better to figure things out from the start? Don’t even talk about one day. Even if I gave you ten days, you still wouldn’t be able to find it."

As she spoke, Iris smugly placed her hand on King’s shoulder and patted it a few times. Right now, she looked a bit like a senior teaching a stubborn junior a lesson.

"Hmph, you’ve got way too much free time. Weren’t you staring at me this whole time? Don’t even deny it, I’m not deaf yet."

King brushed Iris’s hand away and pouted in disgust. But he didn’t do anything else since he still needed her help for now.

"Why would I deny it? Do I have any reason to deny it? Hmph, you’re underestimating me too much. It’s just that you’re too weak, so I have to protect you properly."

"Who the hell are you calling weak?"

The veins on King’s forehead bulged, even though he knew Iris was just talking nonsense to provoke him. For starters, ever since he entered this library, he hadn’t met anyone strong enough to fight him.

Even though no one had released their spiritual power or engaged in any clashes for King to assess them, he was still absolutely certain that they were far weaker than him.

Just by looking at how much they resembled NPCs, he could tell they weren’t very strong. There was no way an important and powerful character would be so dull and ordinary.

"Alright, alright. Wasn’t everyone weak when they first started out? If you want to find a book, follow me."

Seeing King get angry, Iris didn’t care and immediately turned around and walked ahead. For her, having the upper hand over King like this was quite fun.

Once he became too strong in the future, it would be hard to have the upper hand like this anymore.

I have to endure it, I have to endure it. She’s a tsundere. She talks like she’s punching my ears, but in reality, she cares about me a lot...

King told himself this in his mind to calm down, but it didn’t do a damn thing. She was obviously doing it on purpose, and she had succeeded in making him feel annoyed.

Damn it, she was definitely doing it on purpose. Hmph, once I learn how to fly, I won’t need to rely on her like this anymore. I don’t know what the hell was wrong with my brain back then that made me think she was cute.

Thinking about what happened that morning, King’s face turned a little red from embarrassment. Fortunately, those thoughts had only stayed in his head, and Iris didn’t know about them. Otherwise, he would have been utterly humiliated.

With a gloomy expression and a negative mindset, King followed Iris into the elevator and went up to the twentieth floor.

For the first time in his life, King felt that the elevator was really too slow. With his current abilities, even though he couldn’t fly, he was more than capable of jumping straight up to the twentieth floor.

"So the book I need to find is on the top floor? Makes sense. Important stuff is kept up high..."

Just when King thought he had guessed correctly, Iris immediately and bluntly denied it.

"No. What you want is even higher up, but this is as far as the elevator goes."

Hearing her say that, King suddenly thought of the palace he had visited a few days ago, or rather, two months ago.

"Could it be like that palace? There’s also a structure above the building here."

"Stop calling it that palace or this palace. That place is called the Roof of the World."

Even though King hadn’t asked, Iris still gave him a quick lesson so he would seem a little less like a country bumpkin. After all, from now on, the academy could be considered his home, so he couldn’t keep being clueless about everything.

"What? Why give it such an arrogant name? Doesn’t anyone have a problem with that?"

This name was so ridiculously arrogant that King was quite shocked. This place was still much lower than the peak of Mount Everest.

So this name meant that their status was higher than the world itself, not that it was built at the highest point in the world.

A palace that, so far, only fourteen people were allowed to use. With just this many people, they dared to claim they stood above the entire world. They were truly arrogant.

If it were King, he wouldn’t do something like that. Once he was strong enough, he would directly build a shack right on top of the Roof of the World. Even if he didn’t live there, he had to let the entire world know that the roof of the world was still beneath him.

"Who could have a problem with it? Who would dare have a problem with it? Hmph, it’s just a name. No one is actually crazy enough to pick a fight with the academy over it, unless they want to die."

Iris replied with an extremely arrogant and domineering attitude. She looked just like a tyrant bullying innocent people for no reason.

"So you guys really do kill people?"

It wasn’t that King wanted to ask that, but Iris’s tone was very easy to misunderstand. Combined with her personality, King felt that this academy really would do something like that.

"Don’t put it that way. What’s so good about killing people? It’s better to give them a chance to contribute to humanity."

"What do you mean?"

Seeing Iris suddenly act so merciful gave King a strange feeling. Even he had killed more than a dozen people, so how could she have never killed anyone?

Although in King’s eyes, those people didn’t count as people and were just ’a few lines of text’, it was still very unreasonable for Iris to have never killed anyone.

"Send them into the tower and let those stubborn idiots fight monsters. If they reform well, let them go home. If they don’t... Forget it, you don’t need to bother with this nonsense. You just need to know that we’re all good people. We’re here."

It was clearly something terrifying, yet Iris spoke about it so casually. Perhaps, to someone who had killed countless monsters like her, it really wasn’t a big deal.

While talking, she had brought King to a metal door. Iris only needed to touch it for it to open, revealing a staircase. Cold wind blew out from inside, making their clothes flutter nonstop.

"Let’s go."

Iris took King’s hand and pulled him up the stairs. The staircase was very short, and it only took a few steps to reach the rooftop.

There was no magnificent structure like the Roof of the World here. There was only a small wooden house that looked very ordinary, but the signboard with a few golden words stood out remarkably.
