Supreme Swordsman System
Chapter 72 - Too Many Books
Chapter 72: 72 - Too Many Books
Seeing the purification pill, King suddenly thought of the tower and the corruption, so he got curious and asked Iris.
After all, rushing around wouldn’t let him find the book right away anyway, so they could talk while walking.
You shouldn’t make noise in a library. Right, but that didn’t apply to a bunch of cultivators with super hearing.
For cultivators, let alone talking, they could even hear breathing clearly. If they found it too annoying, they could just choose not to listen, so everyone could say whatever they wanted. As long as they didn’t start screaming their heads off, that was considered enough respect for others.
"I didn’t go there to seek death. I was just there to level up, so I was very careful. Now I just need to rest for a while until the power in my body becomes more balanced before I can continue entering the tower. That’s for ordinary people, though. As for you, I can’t really judge."
Seeing that King lacked quite a bit of knowledge, Iris took the opportunity to educate him. Even though she usually liked picking fights with him, she was still very serious when it came to serious matters.
"You’re right this time. Of course, someone like you doesn’t have the right to judge me."
Iris suddenly saying something so pleasant made the corners of King’s mouth curl up immediately. Making King smile wasn’t difficult. As long as Iris wanted to, she could do it easily.
It’s just that she didn’t want to right now and was having a serious conversation. The moment he smiled, Iris’s mouth twisted.
I’m having a serious conversation, so why aren’t you being serious?
"Hmph, right now you can’t even withstand one slash from me. Wait until you’re strong enough, then use that superior tone with me."
Since she couldn’t slash him because she didn’t have a sword, Iris drove her elbow into King’s side. The damage was negligible, but the show of dominance was huge.
After all, if she really wanted to hurt King, she’d have to use enough force to send him flying straight through this entire building.
"Tsk, I have another aspect that’s stronger than you now. In the Heavenly Dao Swordsman state, my stamina is infinite. If you hadn’t stopped me, I would’ve almost beaten Valentina."
There wasn’t much time to think, but King still wanted to come up with something to say.
For the moment, this was the only topic where he had any chance of beating Iris... Even though if he really played this game with her, winning would still leave him in a pretty miserable state.
Her face immediately turned slightly red, then became gloomy. How dare he talk to her like that in the library?
"Hmph, go find the books yourself. If you say nonsense like that to me one more time, I’ll castrate you."
This time, King had really pissed Iris off, so she turned around and walked away. The taste of the pill in her mouth didn’t seem as good anymore either, so she swallowed it down in annoyance.
Tsk, she keeps threatening to castrate me at the slightest thing. Just wait until I have enough strength, I’ll make you kneel... Forget it, I’ll just make you apologize.
Seeing her leave in a huff, King didn’t bother stopping her either. He wanted to experience things slowly instead of speedrunning, so he wasn’t in a hurry to level up like he was cheating inside the tower just to show off in front of her.
The more smug she was now, the more miserable she’d be later. At least, both King and his system believed that was how things would go.
Without Iris by his side, King’s search for books became much quieter and more boring.
He even felt like just going to sleep because there were so many books here that his eyes were going blurry from looking around, yet he still couldn’t find what he needed.
After stubbornly searching on his own for two hours, King saw plenty of books, but none of them were what he needed.
There were quite a few books related to the Object Manipulation Technique, but they were only introductions. They didn’t contain any information that could actually help him learn this technique faster.
"System, can you help me find it?"
[Sorry, master. I don’t have that function. How about you go ask Iris...]
"No. There’s no way I can’t handle something this trivial by myself."
The system hadn’t even finished giving one complete piece of advice before King cut it off. His master’s stubbornness looked pretty dumb, but it fit the system quite well, so it didn’t object either.
King really knew how to make things difficult for himself. There was clearly a living encyclopedia of cultivation right beside him on Earth, but he refused to ask her.
As long as he was willing to lower himself a little, Iris would teach him whatever he wanted. He might get looked down on or teased during the learning process, but he would definitely learn very quickly.
"Damn it... What bastard put so many books unrelated to cultivation into the Immortal Cultivation Academy?"
King had been searching since morning until lunchtime and still hadn’t found anything useful, making him furious. If this weren’t a library, he really would have smashed something just to vent his frustration.
King respected books very much. Even if he considered this entire universe to be nothing more than fiction, that respect hadn’t disappeared.
There weren’t just books about cultivation here, but books on every field imaginable. Moreover, all twenty floors were filled with books and more books.
There wasn’t even a single free computer for King to use. Other than the library staff using computers for work, everyone who came here was here to read books.
For a cultivator, reading books didn’t seem very appealing. A library this huge barely had anyone willing to come here. It seemed like sleeping here was fine too because it was always open.
His eyes swept past shelf after shelf, and for the first time, King felt that just looking at books was already making him bored before he even needed to read their contents.
His wandering around like this had attracted the attention of a few library staff members. But they didn’t really care.
This library was absurdly huge, so King was obviously not the first person to wander around looking lost like this.
"Damn it, I can’t keep doing this..."
King took a deep breath, his eyes avoiding the other direction as if he had reluctantly made a decision. He might get teased by Iris, but he didn’t want to keep wasting time anymore.
"Iris..."
He had only said her name, without even needing to specifically ask for help, and Iris immediately appeared.
This wasn’t surprising either, because although she had been avoiding King, she hadn’t gone far.
