Chapter 2297: Then why didn’t you leave? I never stopped you.
Chapter 2297: Then why didn’t you leave? I never stopped you.
Five seconds.
That was all it took for more than fifty worlds to disappear.
There was no fight, no resistance, no world leaders coming out to face what was happening, and it wasn’t like they didn’t try or that they didn’t get the chance to.
After the scouts ran away and almost no information could be found, a few world leaders left their worlds to see for themselves and they—
They saw it.
The entity of destruction that was swallowing literal worlds as if they were rice balls.
They tried to stop it, they activated their domains, they launched their strongest attacks, they worked together, even the world leaders who could be called lifelong enemies let go of their enmity when it came to survival and attacked together.
But it didn’t matter.
Let alone stop it, their attacks didn’t even slow down that monstrosity, it continued to devour the remaining worlds at the same speed that it was doing before the leaders came to stop him.
As for the leaders’ attacks, that was like a few flies throwing small sticks at a giant, it didn’t even tickle or cause any sort of disturbance.
Their domains that allowed them to be absolute, domains that made most of their followers bow their heads, the moment they touched the monstrosity’s body, they… collapsed.
No world leader knew or understood what happened.
But one second was all it took for them to realize that this wasn’t a battle they could win and they—
Just like the scouts, they too ran away. Their faces showed terror so pure that it was almost pitiful.
They didn’t wish to be devoured, not by that monstrosity but their minds could already imagine the horrifying sight of that monstrosity chasing them.
They tried to think of a way, a way to survive.
Would numbers help?
What if they called their allies and waited for them with an army, an army prepared to stop this monstrosity?
But…
An army?
This monster devoured a world right in front of them, what could numbers possibly do to it?
That idea was dropped faster than it came.
Calling more allies? That wouldn’t work either. The leaders could see it, even thousands, ten thousand, or millions of them couldn’t stop this thing.
They needed someone stronger.
Someone… far, far stronger than them.
Supreme Worlds.
That was their only option.
But…
He had already sent a call for aid but he hadn’t received an answer. The Supreme Worlds were clearly busy with war, they wouldn’t do anything.
Unless…
They were forced to.
Suddenly, the leaders’ expressions changed.
How could they force the Supreme Worlds?
They thought inwardly and very quickly, the answer was clear. They needed to take this monster to them.
If it continued to chase them and they got close to the Supreme Worlds, then they would have no choice but to act, else the Universe would call them cowards.
Yes.
That was it.
That was the only way.
Now the only thing they needed to worry about was being fast enough to take this monstrosity with them. They gathered all the artifacts that could help them with this in their minds, a complete plan began to form but then suddenly—
“H-Hey!”
One of the world leaders called out.
The others turned toward him, wanting to know what had happened.
He had suddenly stopped and was staring back toward the monster with a terrified expression on his face. That made the other world leaders turn around as well, of course, none of them stopped.
The one who stopped would be devoured, that was very clear, they just needed a quick look.
But…
The moment they turned and saw what was happening, they too paused, like the first world leader.
“W-What is that…?”
One of them asked.
“A-A… portal?”
Another guessed.
The monster had already devoured all the worlds in this area, the nearest world around was about a few hundred thousand kilometres away, so while it was very possible for it to go for those worlds, it was more likely for it to chase the survivors.
Or at least—
That’s what the world leaders thought in their minds but as they were staring at the monster they noticed…
A pitch black… hole appear in front of him, a hole that was large enough to fit even this monstrosity.
A hole that the monster was moving towards.
For a moment, they didn’t know what this ’hole’ was, they just knew that it was huge and the energy that came from it was… strange.
Something they couldn’t recognize.
Something… foreign.
And very quickly, their doubts disappeared as well because the monster moved toward the hole and… it was swallowed whole.
Yes.
The monster disappeared.
Or more accurately, it went away.
It returned to wherever it came from.
“Does it mean… we survived?”
Suddenly, one of the world leaders commented, there was still a lost look on his face, as if he couldn’t believe that he actually survived this calamity.
The rest of the world leaders were the same, seeing the empty void in front of them, the empty void where the worlds they once ruled existed, they felt… uncomfortable.
The silence around them was frightening.
Just now, their minds were coming up with different plans to survive the enemy’s attack and now…
They stood in silence.
They stood… safe.
Not because they won or that their plan worked.
But because the ’enemy’ decided to leave, or more accurately, the enemy never once cared about them.
They were just… there.
Their life or death didn’t matter to that monstrosity that did all this.
And when they realized it, they felt… small, they felt… insignificant.
A feeling they weren’t used to, especially since they ruled over billions of lives and every single word that came from their mouth, even the ones they said completely out of the blue, were taken absolutely seriously.
Not that any of it mattered right now, and the world leaders knew that.
It was over.
Their worlds no longer existed, even their connection to their World’s Will, that was always with them, had disappeared.
And now…
They didn’t know what they were supposed to do.
One thing they did notice, however, was the residual energy of that… portal.
“A portal to another Universe.”
One of the world leaders muttered after a few seconds of complete, dead silence.
“Another Universe…”
The rest of the world leaders were the same. They didn’t forget it, that portal, that darkness that was made as if they weren’t allowed to look inside, that foreign energy that felt different.
All of it was proof.
Another Universe did exist.
Sure, they had heard about its existence from the Infinities, they had heard that the Anomaly was from another Universe.
But hearing and seeing were two entirely different things.
And it wasn’t just them—
The two beings that were watching it all play out far, far away were the same.
“Was that…?”
Equarios looked at Orravyn, he didn’t even have to complete his question, he knew Orravyn would understand, and Orravyn did.
“Looks like it.”
The Infinity of Eternity nodded.
“So it really does exist. Another Universe.
And to think there is one Universe that has found a way to invade another Universe.”
Equarios muttered.
“Doesn’t it excite you?”
Orravyn smiled.
And at that question, Equarios looked in the direction where the portal was formed, then beneath him where Light and Darkness were still going at each other and he—
“No.”
He shook his head.
This did not excite him.
Not one bit.
Because it… scared him.
If a Universe had indeed found a way to invade theirs, then they needed to be at their strongest to deal with it.
But…
Let alone their strongest, they were probably at their weakest.
The Fifth Infinity is not in sync with the others, they know absolutely nothing about him.
Light was already weakened by the enemy.
Now Light and Darkness are at war and the longer the war continues, the weaker both sides will be.
This…
This was honestly the perfect opportunity for the enemy to invade them and… the chances of them coming out victorious were… low.
“You think a lot.”
Orravyn commented with a light smile.
“This matter shouldn’t be taken lightly.”
Equarios commented.
He was still calmer at first, but seeing the portal to another Universe himself changed everything.
“The enemy Universe is getting bolder.
It was only the Anomaly before.
But now they have started sending more destructive creatures.
This cannot go on any longer.
We need to take action.”
“And what should we do?”
Orravyn asked.
“Information.
We need more information.
We need to capture these foreign entities and learn about their Universe.”
Equarios answered.
“I assure you, Equarios.”
Orravyn spoke.
“You won’t find anything. They sent that mindless creature for a reason. We capture it, then try to find something, at best, we would find nothing, at worst, they must have planted false information to fool us.”
“Then we need to invade their Universe and learn about it.”
Equarios gave a more desperate solution.
But…
The problem was still the same.
“Then why didn’t you leave? I never stopped you.”
