Chapter 2296: Second Anomaly.
Chapter 2296: Second Anomaly.
“Fuck this! I am not dying!!!”
One of the many scouts threw his communication artifact at the monster in front of him with a frightened look on his face and ran away.
The rest of the scouts watched him.
[Eleven worlds disappeared!? What in the hell are you talking about!? Explain clearly!]
The leaders of the remaining worlds continued to ask the same question and the scouts could see it.
It was hopeless.
In just this little moment, five more worlds had disappeared, the monster had swallowed them and the scouts that were part of the disappeared worlds could no longer feel their worlds.
And then—
As if to make everything clearer—
THUNDER THUNDER THUNDER
RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE
The Universe’s Will reacted again.
A reaction every being in the Universe was now… used to.
It was… the Universe’s anger.
Anger that it only showed when the Anomaly appeared.
The moment the scouts realized that, they looked at the monster in front of them with even stronger fright.
This… was the Anomaly…?
They wondered in their heads. All of them had seen the recording, they had seen how the Anomaly looked and whatever he was, if there was one thing most… females in the Universe could agree on, it was that…
He was pleasing to the eyes.
His smile, his confidence, his… presence, everything they saw in the recording, even as he killed people, he was… charming.
And this monster—
It was far from charming.
It was… nightmarish.
This couldn’t be the Anomaly, there was no way.
Another question appeared in their heads.
If this was not the Anomaly then… who was it…?
Then they thought about what the Anomaly actually was. A being from another Universe. So if this being wasn’t the Anomaly but the Universe was reacting to it like it was, then…
Then that would mean he was… the second Anomaly.
Another being from some other Universe.
The Anomaly’s ally?
Maybe.
But if that possibility was indeed true…
Then that would mean there were now two Anomalies and… the new one didn’t seem any weaker either. No, in fact, it looked far stronger and more terrifying.
Not to mention the two Infinities themselves had started fighting each other and many lives were being taken.
In a situation as chaotic as this, the presence of a second Anomaly was…
The scouts paled in fear.
[Hey! Why is the Universe reacting that way? Is it because of the monster!? Or has the Anomaly struck again!? But there are still three days before he attacks again.
HEY! ANSWER ME! ANSWER OR DO NOT EXPECT TO RETURN ALIVE!!]
Loud voices continued to come from their communication artifacts, voices from the world leaders, well, from those that were… still alive.
But…
The scouts could see it.
It was hopeless.
The leaders, even if they realized what was happening, it wouldn’t matter.
The enemy was… far too strong for their world leaders to do anything about it, the only thing they could do was request aid from the Supreme Worlds.
But honestly—
The Universe had already reacted, the Supreme Worlds must have sensed it as well, since they hadn’t sent someone here to investigate until now, the scouts highly doubted the leaders’ reports and calls for aid would do anything.
And even if they did send anything, if this being was anywhere close to the real Anomaly in terms of strength, which it very clearly looked like it was—
Even the Supreme Worlds’ reinforcements would be useless.
So—
The best course of action here, after considering every little thing, was to—
Run.
And that’s what the remaining scouts did.
They ran.
[Hey! HEY! ANSWER ME! I SWEAR TO GO—]
And the world leaders and their worlds were left behind to be devoured, and until the very end, they didn’t even know what hit them. Not that it was anything different from any of the Anomaly’s other victims.
Most of them were devoured before even understanding what was happening to them.
…
On the other side, near the void that had now become a battlefield between two Infinities, the void that the Universe itself had isolated to prevent any further colossal-level damage, a void that every single life form had either abandoned or had been caught in the battle and perished without remains—
Two beings hovered in the air, the shockwaves from the explosions, shockwaves that would kill almost every single being in the Universe, passed their bodies and only made their clothes and hair move.
Like they were hit by a strong wind.
“Did you sense that?”
One of them questioned as he turned toward the other.
The two Infinities were watching the battle with great interest, the battle was a good thing for them, so watching it was indeed fun, but while they were enjoying the show, something happened.
The Universe shook, not because of the battle, but because of a familiar reason.
“He made another move. That was different from his usual pattern.”
Equarios commented with a curious smile, even then, his eyes did not move from the two Supremes.
“This was not the Anomaly.”
Orravyn shook his head with a smile.
“Hmm?”
Equarios frowned and finally turned toward the being standing next to him. Orravyn looked at him and nodded with a meaningful look on his face.
Equarios’s frown deepened, then, without wasting time, he closed his eyes, connected with the Universe’s Will and his vision was taken to the place where it was happening.
And the moment he saw that giant monstrosity, he raised an eyebrow.
Orravyn smiled at that reaction, he had the same reaction when he first watched, of course, he hid it well, so well that Equarios didn’t even realize what he was doing.
“What is it?”
Equarios questioned as he narrowed his eyes, but Orravyn just shook his head—
“How am I supposed to know? I have never seen that creature in my life.”
“Then shouldn’t we check it out?”
Equarios asked and Orravyn looked at him with a strange look on his face.
“You mean we personally?”
“If it’s anyone else and that being is as strong as or stronger than the Anomaly, it won’t matter. They will just be devoured. And the way it is swallowing those worlds, it doesn’t look weak.”
Equarios explained and Orravyn just stared at his ’friend’ and seemed even more surprised, genuinely surprised.
“You truly do wish to check it out yourself. I have never seen you so keenly interested in matters that didn’t involve balance.”
“It does involve balance, one of the worlds that is being devoured is part of the Balance Faction.”
Equarios answered.
Orravyn then shrugged—
“Alright then, if you do go in, do let me spend some time with the body when you are done, of course.”
“You won’t be coming?”
Equarios frowned. A being like Orravyn, someone who craved knowledge, had the opportunity to capture a being from another Universe, a Universe he didn’t understand anything about and that was an endless pile of knowledge to him, something he wouldn’t let go of no matter what.
It meant something was different.
“What are you thinking?”
Equarios asked directly.
“Hmm? What do you mean?”
Orravyn feigned ignorance but Equarios—
“Forget it.”
He placed his hand behind his back, it was clear that he wasn’t going either. Orravyn looked at him, then he just smiled and didn’t say anything.
Did he wish to live?
He did but…
It just wasn’t the right time.
First, that monstrosity was probably one of the creatures from the Universe the Anomaly was from, it was tempting to capture and study it.
But…
Orravyn couldn’t leave.
He did not know what the monster was, but it seemed like a mere beast. A beast with no mind but a ridiculous amount of power.
And if it was indeed a beast, then it must have a power to control it, a King, per se.
Then how could he, an Infinity, leave to deal with the enemy’s pet.
That would be humiliating and ruin his good name.
And even if he did ignore those consequences, since, as an Infinity, especially the one who did not rely on Authority like the other three did—
People’s opinions rarely mattered to him.
What did matter, however, were the other Infinities, especially those who were still going at each other with a considerable amount of power.
At a time like this, anything, absolutely anything could happen. One trigger, just one trigger was more than enough for the two Infinities underneath to stop the battle and attack someone else instead.
If he left his world unprotected—
He would lose… an absurd number of artifacts and relics he had used to protect it in case these two decided to target him for some reason.
And yes, he wasn’t just being paranoid, this could happen.
So chasing after a beast from another Universe, as interesting as it sounded, wasn’t more interesting than the battlefield in front of them.
Plus, somewhere in their hearts, this seemed connected to the Anomaly, this beast might very well be his pet and if the Anomaly figured out that his dog was taken away, he might… start targeting them instead of Light.
Yes, somewhere inside them, they feared the Anomaly because of his vile, underhanded tactics.
So they wanted to stay clear, at least while it was possible.
As for the beast…
“Let’s see how long it continues.”
Orravyn smiled.
Now, he was watching two interesting things at the same time.
