Chapter 1553: Memory of the Dead
Chapter 1553: Memory of the Dead
“Wait. What’s going on? Fenrir… Where are you, my brother?” Hela was looking around, not finding Fenrir anywhere. She turned to Nathan. “Where is Fenrir? Where is my brother? I know he’s not dead. He’s a strong boy, he must not be dead.”
Nathan gulped down. “He doesn’t want to meet you, so I don’t summon him.”
“What do you mean?” Hela’s expression darkened.
“!!!” Xolotl and Garuda were the first to react. They rushed to Nathan, blocking Hela.
Nathan explained, “He is like a brother to me. I don’t plan to disrespect his wishes.”
“You…” Hela clenched her hands into fists. “He is my brother.”
“My relationship is similar. So, even if you are his real sister, I don’t plan to summon him unless he’s okay with it.” Nathan shook his head.
Hela’s energy suddenly erupted from her body.
“!!!” Xolotl and Garuda instinctively knew that they were at the same level, but that was only when they were at their peak.
Currently, Hela’s power was actually beyond them. She might have unlocked the next part of her divinity, meaning her ena should have reached 25 million at the very least.
This showed how powerful Elysion was. As one would expect from a regressor, if he couldn’t achieve this much, he should feel ashamed.
Still, this had just created another problem for them.
The moment the energy burst, Evelyn and Luna summoned their familiars, ready for battle.
However, Elysion’s voice suddenly broke the tension. “Hela!”
His voice contained a trace of energy that actually dispelled her energy.
Hela’s body shook. She wasn’t scared of Elysion. Rather, her expression calmed down after his intervention.
“!!!” Hela widened her eyes and loosened her hands. “I see… My apologies for showing such an embarrassing side.”
Nathan blinked his eyes in shock. He couldn’t believe what he had just witnessed. ’Don’t tell me, Fenrir is scared of her because of this? Does she not have her emotions in check? Or maybe she couldn’t?’
Nathan didn’t want to believe it, but if his speculation was true, Fenrir probably suffered from time to time.
The unexpected suffering was what scared him.
But for the most part, Hela looked like a sister who was just worried about her brother.
Still, from his knowledge, there was not much interaction between Fenrir and Hela.
’From what I know, Hela was put in Helheim at a very young age because they feared her strength. So, Fenrir must have suffered during his childhood as well.’
He had experienced it as well. Although he didn’t want to diminish the impact of emotional damage as an adult, he believed that a child would have a higher chance of developing trauma compared to an adult.
That was what he thought as someone who had gone through hell during his childhood. When he became a bit older, thinking back made him think it wasn’t as bad as he originally thought.
But the trauma he suffered was still haunting him.
Nevertheless, he didn’t plan to summon Fenrir. No matter what Hela said, he wouldn’t compromise.
Hela walked toward Nathan, forcing Garuda and Xolotl to stand in front of him. Even though Hela was stronger than them currently, it didn’t mean they were completely useless either.
To their surprise, Hela stopped not far from them and politely bowed. “Well, let me formally introduce myself again. I am Hela. Since you and Fenrir are considered brothers, that means you are like a brother to me as well.”
“Ah?!” Nathan widened his eyes in shock. He didn’t know whether this was the work of his twisted luck or just her own logic, but he was facing a predicament that he never expected he would have to worry about.
Since Fenrir wasn’t here, that meant he would be the one facing Hela’s episode.
“It looks like he is lucky to have you as his summoner. If it were anyone else, they would probably have summoned them already.”
Nathan didn’t know what to say. There was a goddess of death who suddenly considered him her brother.
Hela turned to Elysion. “You don’t mind, right?”
Elysion understood what she wanted to give, so he nodded his head.
Hela then raised both hands. A black energy started to condense on her hand and formed a black crystal.
“I don’t know what you’re planning to do next. However, I want to give you this.” She presented the black crystal. “This is the condensation of death. You will be able to use this crystal to recreate the scene of what happened before their death.
“Once you’re dead, your soul might enter the cycle of reincarnation, but it doesn’t mean that the death energy will also follow along. They will linger and create a trace that can be seen by anyone.
“Of course, the one who is able to use this kind of power is probably me and a few others.”
Nathan gasped. This would be an amazing object since he planned to discover the secret of the Asura Palace. This crystal might help them.
He didn’t know whether it was his twisted luck or her logic that made her consider him as her brother. But he definitely knew that this crystal came from that twisted luck.
After all, it was perfectly aligned with his current goal.
Either way, he didn’t plan to refuse this gift.
“Are you sure?” Nathan asked for confirmation.
“As a big sister, it is only right for me to give you a gift on the first meeting. It’s disappointing that I can’t meet my other brother, but I guess I will be satisfied with this.” Hela smiled.
Hela was considered one of the most beautiful women, if not for the fact that the other half of her body was rotten.
But with that illusion that covered the other half of her body and that smile, he understood why she had such a title.
Nathan carefully extended his hand while checking with Xolotl and Garuda.
Xolotl nodded. “You can use it. You need my energy or Anubis to recharge it. At most, it should work for five times before you need to recharge it.”
“I see.” Nathan finally held the dark crystal and examined it closely. “What is the crystal name?”
“Memory of the Dead.”
