Chapter 112: A Scream Fest

Chapter 112: A Scream Fest

As Yoribu watched from above the deck, she noticed flickers of silhouettes on the surface of the Dralh Sea, which wilted and reappeared many kilometres away. Steadily, from multiple directions, flickering and reappearing were Mystic Humans in their Spirit Eater forms.

They were all heading towards Prata City.

Seeing their numbers, Yoribu became concerned, ’Some had indeed lost their lives.’

“Curses!” She jumped onto the water and kicked it, using sheer force to form craters in the sea as she launched herself forward, making a beeline towards Prata City.

At the same time, descending down the city’s flight of stairs towards one of its ports was Runthral, having engaged in a bit of a shopping spree. In his hand was a bag containing the Parute Fruits that he had promised to give to Boiboi, ’Now, I can only hope he’ll keep his promise.’

’From what I heard, it seems a mishap happened with his team. His Spirit Container collapsed as a result.’ He frowned, ’That Fanfan guy didn’t seem like a decent individual. However, Boiboi isn’t one to be affected by some torture.’

’If anything, I’ve done worse to him, and for a significant period of time too.’ He thought in confusion, ’Something else must have happened.’

He calmly landed on a sea wave that carried him towards the Trailing Waves Battleship. A kick later, a water geyser pushed him onto the Battleship’s deck.

Nodding at the Vice Captain in charge of the ship, he walked into its cabin, “I’ll leave in a few minutes.”

“Sure,” The Vice Captain waved his hand casually, happy to help his Deity.

Slowly, he walked towards the lowermost section of the Battleship and barged into the Maintenance Crew’s cabin. The cabin seemed a bit messy, with all sorts of scents lingering about.

A large tub of Gentle Coral lay about in its centre, covered with a soot of some sort. Gasping weakly beside the tub was Torq, his eyes blankly staring at the ceiling like a sunfish.

“What the heck are you doing now?” Runthral stared down at Torq, about to say something when he double-checked the other party’s presence, “This is…it can’t be…!”

“How did you reach the Silver Grade?”

“He…hehe!” Torq raised his hand and confidently made a peace sign, “I managed it on my own, without relying on your power.”

Slowly, he got up, approached Runthral, and extended his hand, “Where are my goods?”

“I have them here,” Runthral raised the bag he had brought with him, “It took me a lot of effort getting my hands on Spirit Moss. We only had brought a limited reserve, only to be used for special occasions where our peak fighting force has a damaged Spirit Container.”

“I literally had to abuse my authority to…” As he was speaking, Torq didn’t seem to care and instead only eyed the bag, “Bastard, listen to me.”

“Look here, Runthral.” His expression was firm as Torq made eye contact with his brother, “Mother made a couple things extremely clear to me.”

Runthral became puzzled, “Was it when we arrived at our home from the Academy?”

“Yes, it was then.” Torq nodded, “She promised that as long as I prove myself through various missions and make a significant enough contribution, she’ll ensure I get the Lightning Plasma Spirit Pool within a year’s time.”

“She said that?” Runthral was surprised, “Only Settlement Leaders are given that. How…?”

“Because, only after that, would you benefit the highest by consuming me.” Torq snorted, “Your talents, post that, would actually rank pretty high up among the Empyrean Snappers, possibly even the single digits. It all depends on how well I elevate my strength using Lightning Plasma.”

“And this,” He pointed at the floor, “I think mother felt this one mission has enough value to warrant that result.”

“That’s why she ensured I was part of the Raid.” Saying as such, he extended his hand and grabbed the bag, “So, don’t waste my time with useless questions.”

“I will uphold my end of the deal.” He eyed Runthral, “Tell me when you want it and I’ll send it to you.”

“What if I were to ask for it now?” Runthral asked next.

“Sure,” Torq nodded casually and summoned his Empyrean Snapper Pet, which seemed pretty weak at the moment.

“Why do I remember it appearing differently before?” Runthral frowned upon seeing the creature that he saw once in the past, when Torq used it upon the Quill.

“Obviously it is weaker.” Torq rolled his eyes, “You’ve witnessed what I’ve done to that Quill, right?”

“It obviously wasn’t easy.” He was lying here, for the moment the day reset, Torq summoned his Empyrean Snapper Pet and had extracted as much of its Prana-rich blood as possible. He had kept it safe in a nearby cabin room, which was also empty now.

Knowing very well most of the teams sent out wouldn’t be returning, he took advantage of the free space as he pleased.

He was merely putting on a show to get some free resources from Runthral. Hence, he extracted every possible value out of the Empyrean Snapper Pet beforehand. That was the cause of the foul smell in the cabin room.

“Hmm, alright.” Runthral expressed his distrust but seemed to believe the lie in the end. The air around him turned into blades and shredded the Empyrean Snapper Pet.

GRAHH!

As if waiting for this moment, Torq screamed in pain, spewed out blood, and rolled on the floor. He had already given instructions to his Narlakk Pet, which at the moment had placed pollen underneath his skin to wriggle around like worms, purposefully making it look like something extremely valuable was being extracted out of Torq at the moment.

T-Twitch!

Runthral eyed the scene in shock, moving a few steps back as he saw Torq roll around while screaming in pain, ’He…hehe…hehehe!’

His lips curled up into a twisted smile, ’He…he won’t be able to use my power anymore!’

“Since we’ve completed our deal, I’ll take my leave now.” Runthral said and left the cabin, not even offering to clean up the mess he had made.

“Grahh…Gah! …Awooo…” Torq paused for a moment, ’Awoo? I’m not a dog.’

“GRAHHH!!!” He shrilled in pain and maintained the act for a few more minutes, ensuring Runthral wouldn’t find out the truth even if he were to enter the place once again for whatever reason.

A couple Cooter Clansmen were walking past but didn’t offer any help, knowing very well who was inside. They had seen Runthral walking past and hence, didn’t bother interfering. One of them even subtly took out a vial of water to record the sounds in an Information Slip, ’People will pay lots to buy this.’

Many hated Boiboi, so his screams of pain would indeed be ASMR for them.

Torq kept up the act until his throat turned hoarse. Then, he hurriedly closed his mouth shut, for he was unable to control himself anymore from bursting into laughter.

The mess Runthral had made on the floor, by shredding the Empyrean Snapper Pet, all suddenly turned into pollen, leaving behind some bone fragments and other unnecessary parts that had been fully stripped of their value.

’Now, time to elevate my strength.’ He sat up casually and stared at the bag in his possession, “Thank you for being a gullible idiot,”

“My unfortunate brother.”
