Chapter 111: Mystic Human Summoning
Chapter 111: Mystic Human Summoning
Boom!
A heavy fist slammed into the ground, forming a twenty metre wide crater. Coughing up blood within the crater was a humanoid wearing a crimson armour. The armour shone a vibrant violet, radiating the light to form a cocoon around itself, which pushed back the incoming fist.
But even though it slowed down, the fist still ended up landing on the ground, widening the crater by another metre’s worth. And the, and then once again, the fists pummelled the earth.
“Grah!” The one caught within the crater was a Mystic Human, his expression filled with fear as he stared at the 50-metre-tall entity before him, one seemed to form through the amalgamation of all the Free Humans native to the island.
The Mystic Human assumed his Spirit Eater form and flickered to a farther spot on the island, intending to escape, only to find another amalgamated creature landing before him, repeating the punches.
’Why are there so many of such creatures here? And most of all…’ The Mystic Human unleashed a crimson beam that sent the 50-metre-tall amalgamated creature tumbling back from the force.
But suddenly, the creature’s body morphed, as the legs turned to hands and the hands became legs. It was in a standing pose once again, even though it should have been on the ground.
The creature was constantly morphing its shape while assuming an overall humanoid structure to remain on the offensive. But that wasn’t all.
Cough!
The Mystic Human coughed out putrid blood and gasped in shock, ’I’m infected? Me? A Mystic Human?’
“I’m….powerful!” He roared and unleashed multiple crimson beams that rapidly bombarded the humanoid creatures rushing at him, sending each flying tumbling back. Roots sprouted out of his feet and dug into the ground, rapidly pulling up nutrients for consumption to generate Prana, which he harnessed to unleash a barrage of attacks.
He was the sole survivor on the island, for now. As soon after he began a full-scale retaliation, someone appeared behind him.
“You are…Raefrag!” The Mystic Human gasped in shock, for the individual behind him was a Free Human who was on the verge of becoming a Mystic Human. Mystic Humans typically kept tabs on such people across the islands.
That’s why he knew the other party’s identity. “Good! If you’re here, it means you’ve succeeded. Come assist…”
“Raefrag…?” The Mystic Human was stunned when murky blood began to drip out of his orifices. In a daze, he watched Raefrag touch his arm and make a pulling motion.
Suddenly, the arm elongated into a whip, losing its original form. The Mystic Human broke out of the reverie a second later and hurriedly cranked Prana into his legs, used psychookinesis to reinforce them, and leapt far back.
“Urgh!” He glanced at his arm that had now been turned into a whip. He promptly severed it and regrew the arm, stunned to see it regrow in the shape of a whip, “Impossible!”
He surged Prana into the whip arm and watched it wriggle, showing mild signs of reverting into its original form as an arm. ’Seems It’ll take me a while to recover.’
’I should avoid making contact with him.’ He thought in worries and glared at the other party, “Who are you?”
“I am Raefrag,” The man replied and focused on the Mystic Human’s whip-arm, “And you’re my trial run before the real event.”
“What are you…” The Mystic Human gasped mid-sentence, noticing Raefrag had somehow closed in the distance and made contact with his head, “H-How is it possible?”
“You…” He screamed, “10-Life Stage?”
“…How?” That was the last he uttered before his body was completely moulded and morphed like a clump of clay.
…
“It’s long past the time to receive a report.” Bnapbnap frowned as he paced around on his battleship’s deck. “Why haven’t any teams returned yet?”
The relay teams such as the one manned by Fanfan were in charge of shuttling between the Battleships and their destination across the various islands on the Dralh Sea. And in situations where such teams could be compromised, there were other safety nets installed.
There were elite teams consisting of only Silver Grade Cooter Clansmen who were in their Spirit Weapon forms, camouflaged within the water to keep an eye on the relay teams from afar.
And they will relay information to the Battleships.
Moreover, using Prata City as their centre of operations, the Mystic Humans too were accompanying the various teams alongside the Cooter Clansmen.
“Even if something troublesome happens, my Mystic Humans should be able to escape.” Yoribu approached Bnapbnap and spoke in concern, “I’ve trained them the most in terms of evasion.”
“Then, what do you think has happened?” Bnapbnap frowned.
“The situation might be beyond our expectations.” Yoribu approached Brunta Brimgan to ask, “What about the Brimgan Empire?”
“When are our reinforcements from there arriving?”
“In a matter of hours at most.” Brunta Brimgan nodded and patted his chest, “My sixth body is accompanying them. I can feel it getting closer. With them assisting us, we’ll have a relatively better outcome.”
’We’re operating pretty blindly here.’ Yoribu wasn’t liking what she was hearing, ’Something feels amiss, too amiss to just ignore and passively wait around.’
“Will the Guardian be coming?” Yoribu asked next.
“If she was, she would already be here.” Brunta Brimgan shook his head, “I’m afraid we won’t be getting her help.”
Yoribu stared in the direction of the Cooter Clan’s headquarters, which was faintly visible over the horizon. Even with her exceptional eyesight, all she could make out was a dot extremely far away. ’The Chief can get here within a minute if I were to summon him.’
’Then, I must make preparations.’ Yoribu summoned four Mystic Humans and commanded them, “Communicate with the other islands through our channels. And summon everyone to Prata City.”
“But, what about their responsibilities?” One of the Mystic Humans asked, “Without the Mystic Humans protecting the island, all the Free Humans living there would die in a Death Hour.”
“Ignore them,” Yoribu commanded, “Summon all the Mystic Humans! That’s my order!”
“Yes, Councilwoman!” The Mystic Humans gathered and joined hands to create a square-shaped platform of Tratham.
And as they infused their Prana into the platform, it generated a reddish beam of light into the sky, like a four-faced pillar.
Four beams of red had combined to form the pillar, and once it had appeared, the four Mystic Humans manning it made mild changes, causing the pillar to diverge and slightly change their colours.
In the sky, it made a symbol akin to a kite, which was a simple means meant to summon the Mystic Humans.
The kite symbol stretched a kilometre in size, fully covering the sky to be as big as possible, so that even those in far away islands could witness it.
Upon seeing it, the Mystic Humans stationed in the islands within sight gathered, four per island, and unleashed the same symbol in the sky.
This way, every large area within a region had the symbol hovering in the sky, which could be seen by those in farther islands.
…
“What is this?” A Mystic Human was seated in his quarters, frowning when suddenly, the surroundings became laden with a crimson hue. He hurriedly rushed out and noticed the kite-shaped symbol hovering in the sky dozens of kilometres away. “An urgent summons?”
He turned around to stare at the couple of Free Humans standing nearby. They were his parents, who were judged to have lacking talents in becoming a Mystic Human.
They were Free Humans who were reaching seventy years in age, decently old. They had been living in absolute luxury, despite their lacking strength.
If not for the rule from the Council banning Free Humans in the Dralh Sea from building a Human Avatar, he would have already made them build a Silver Grade Human Avatar, which would at least improve their lifespan by a few hundred years.
However, as the senior-most Mystic Human, if even he didn’t follow their rules, then no one would. This would eventually collapse their foundation, as only Free Humans bereft of a Human Avatar’s influence had a slight chance of becoming a Mystic Human.
Everyone else would simply die in the process.
If a Mystic Human in the council were to die, he was next in line to inherit the position. Hence, he had always prioritised the rules. And now, the very same rules felt like a huge boulder stuck in his throat.
’This…these summons are to abandon everything and prioritise rushing to the scene.’ He gulped and nervously eyed his parents, “Mother…father…!”
“Please be safe, Biljro!” The Free Human father expressed his worries, “Something serious must have happened to summon every Mystic Human in such a hurry.”
“Promise me you’ll be safe!” He pleaded.
“I’m more worried about you, father.” Biljro gritted his teeth, “In two hours, the Death Hour will begin. Pranic Beasts avoid entering our Settlement only because I’m here.”
“It won’t be an issue,” The Free Human mother held Biljro’s hand and said gently, “The intelligent Pranic Beasts won’t dare target us. And against the Iron Grade Pranic Beasts, your defensive arrangements are more than enough to protect us.”
“We will head deep underground and hide within the bunker there.” She continued, “There’s enough food stockpiled there to last us months.”
“But I…” Biljro expressed his worries, “There are Gold Grade Pranic Beasts living in this region. I’m terrified about what they’ll do once they see me leaving.”
“I know they’re always watching my actions!” After a moment’s hesitation, he brought the duo to a secret compartment in the room and pointed at a mineral statue closely resembling the two.
“T-This is?” The Free Human father stared at the mineral sculpture that exactly matched his size and appearance to a scary accuracy.
“A Human Avatar.” Biljro huffed once, “Fuse with it.”
“I’m not taking no for an answer.” He pointed at a corner of the compartment, “There’s an inexhaustible supply of Parute Fruits there. They’ll spoil in a year, which is how long I’m confident in buying time for you, in case I don’t make it back alive.”
“Biljro!” The Free Human mother screamed in horror.
“I’m sorry, but I want you two to survive above everything!” Saying as such, Biljro pushed his parents into the compartment, locked it, and pulled a lever that sent the compartment plummeting into a slide, taking it deep underground.
And once it had reached the end, the entire path closed up, “Either I return alive to pull you guys out, or you carve out a path once you’ve obtained the power of a Silver Grade Human Avatar.”
Shedding tears, the Mystic Human left behind an announcement for the Free Humans on the island, telling them to go into hiding and jumped onto the Dralh Sea.
His figure turned into a husk of his former self, and twenty kilometres away, he appeared a second later, in pristine condition. Every second, he covered twenty kilometres, moving at the fastest speed possible for a Mystic Human with his build, on par with those selected to serve as Council members.
