Chapter 236: Chapter 236: A Taste of Their Own Medicine
"Alright!" Hua Buwan and Ling Qianfan said in unison.
With that, they packed up their stall and prepared to head home. Who would have thought that just as they were about to leave, the owner of a nearby shop would walk over.
Hua Buwan, Ling Qianjun, and Ling Qianfan exchanged glances, wondering what tricks the neighboring shop owner had up his sleeve.
The owner plastered a wide smile on his face, enthusiastically grabbed Hua Buwan’s hand, and said, "Young lady, your craftsmanship is truly excellent! I’ve been running a shop in this market for quite a few years now, and I’ve never seen anyone as skilled as you!"
Hua Buwan smiled, feigning a bit of embarrassment. "You flatter us, sir. We’ve only just started."
The shop owner shook his head. "Don’t be modest, young lady. I just took a look at your stall, and your business is booming! I’d like to discuss something with you. I wonder if you’d be interested?"
Hua Buwan, Ling Qianjun, and Ling Qianfan exchanged another glance, feeling a bit puzzled.
The owner continued, "I want to partner with you and bring your crafts into my shop. I have a storefront in this market with a pretty good location. If you’re willing, we can work together and take this business to the next level."
Hearing the shop owner’s words, Hua Buwan and Ling Qianjun couldn’t help but sneer inwardly. They weren’t fools; they could easily tell this owner was trying to swindle them out of their manufacturing techniques.
Ling Qianjun immediately looked at Hua Buwan.
"This shop owner isn’t much to look at, but he certainly has beautiful delusions," Hua Buwan thought to herself.
She hadn’t expected them to be targeted by a neighboring shop owner after only two days of setting up their stall. It was much faster than she had anticipated. It seemed their few items had made quite an impact in this town, causing these people to lose their patience so quickly.
Hua Buwan looked at the shop owner with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes, a hint of slyness flashing in her gaze. She thought it was an absolute pipe dream for him to want the formulas and crafting techniques for the items sold at her stall.
However, she maintained her pleasant expression and said, "Sir, the goods in your shop are truly impressive! I’m actually quite interested in them. I wonder if you could share your formulas and manufacturing techniques with me?"
The shop owner stared at Hua Buwan warily, muttering to himself. He would never easily reveal his trade secrets to others, especially to someone as seemingly unreliable as Hua Buwan.
"Haha, you must be joking, miss. This is my exclusive secret recipe. How could I just casually tell anyone else?" the shop owner said, brushing it off with a nervous laugh.
Hua Buwan silently cursed him as a sly old fox, but her face retained its polite smile.
"Sir, how about this? I can offer a high price to buy your formulas and manufacturing techniques, or we can collaborate and expand this business together," Hua Buwan continued with a smile.
The shop owner frantically shook his head without a second thought, his gaze now laced with sheer contempt for Hua Buwan.
"You’re just an insignificant street vendor, yet you want the formulas from my shop?" he thought mockingly. "I run a fishing gear store; everyone in this town needs these goods."
"Absolutely not, miss. This is my ancestral secret, and I cannot sell it to outsiders. Furthermore, I don’t believe you have the ability to scale up this business," the shop owner stated firmly.
Hua Buwan sneered inwardly, yet kept the smile on her face. "Therefore, it is equally impossible for me to reveal my family’s secret recipes to you, sir. I also don’t believe you have the capability to take this business to the next level."
Whatever words he used to block her, she would use right back against him. She was simply giving him a taste of his own medicine.
