Starting Today I'll Work As A City Lord
Chapter 832 - 829 Regret This
Chapter 832: Chapter 829 Regret This
"Kill! Kill!!"
The beastkin knights howled as they charged up the city walls. The disparity in numbers and the ruined state of the walls were immediately exposed. Many beastkin knights scaled the ramparts and hacked their way into the city; the human knights couldn’t hold them back at all.
"Kill." Obi brandished the spear in his hand, swatting a human knight’s head askew with a single blow. Clad in steel armor, he was completely unfazed by the minor hacking and slashing of these human knights.
"Damn it, the beastkin’s strength is too great."
Some human knights were directly picked off their horses by spears and thrown to the ground.
"Kill!"
Tap, tap, tap...
Clang, clang, clang!!
The scene was chaotic. Taking advantage of the turmoil, Obi led the beastkin knights to force the city gates open.
Instantly, the beastkin knights waiting outside charged in on their warhorses. One thousand beastkin knights against just over five hundred human knights—the strengths of the two sides were not on the same level at all.
Resistance was futile. The power gap was staggering, not to mention that the beastkin knights were equipped with weapons made of steel. The human knights were completely suppressed.
"It seems your knights can’t hold on anymore," Bella said mockingly. She swung her spear, repelling the longsword Ganmeng slashed at her.
"..." Ganmeng’s expression was grim. He took the opportunity to step back twice and quickly scanned his surroundings.
Sure enough, many of the knights under his command had already been subdued. Some beastkin knights were even standing idly by, looking up at him.
"Surrender," Bella said coldly, pointing her spear at Ganmeng.
"Hmph!" Ganmeng snorted coldly. Gripping his longsword, he engaged Bella in combat once again.
"..." Bella’s face darkened, and she no longer held back. Since he was unwilling to submit to her, there was no need to be polite.
Finding an opening, her spear lashed out, striking Ganmeng directly on the back of his hand. With an upward flick, the knight’s longsword flew from his grasp and was knocked aside.
Ganmeng’s expression changed drastically. The back of his hand burned with searing pain. He was just about to dodge and retrieve his sword, but Bella’s spear was already pointed squarely at his throat. If he moved even a muscle, the spear would pierce straight through his neck in the next second.
Ganmeng swallowed hard. He was unwilling to admit defeat, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t afraid of death.
"Tie him up," Bella ordered deeply, glancing at Obi, who had already climbed back up the wall.
"Yes, Boss." Obi put on a serious face. Using a rope, he swiftly and securely bound Ganmeng.
At this point, all the knights of Weber City had been taken down, while the commoners hid trembling inside their houses.
"Damn it..." After being tied up, Ganmeng looked at his subordinates around him and suddenly became calm. A bitter smile crept onto the corners of his mouth, tinged with a hint of resignation.
"You have lost," Bella said indifferently.
"..." Ganmeng smiled bitterly and shook his head without saying much else. No matter how much a loser spoke, they were still a loser.
"Let’s go. To the castle," Bella said coldly.
She left Obi and half the knights at the city gates to clean up the aftermath and guard the human knights, while the rest rode their warhorses straight for the castle.
Tap, tap, tap...
It didn’t take long for the castle to appear in Bella’s sights. beastkin knights immediately rushed forward and smashed the main doors open.
Tap, tap, tap...
Bella dismounted. Holding her spear and wearing a cold expression, she walked in from the outside. Simultaneously, beastkin knights flooded in, bringing everyone inside the castle under control.
"Move, hurry up."
As soon as Bella entered the main hall, she saw beastkin knights escorting Dema over.
"You... where is Ganmeng?" Dema shouted. Seeing Bella’s icy gaze, he was so terrified that his body scrambled backward, only for his shoulders to be firmly pinned by the beastkin.
"This place is changing masters," Bella sat in the seat of honor and stated coldly. "As for Ganmeng, he has already been defeated."
"Ganmeng, that piece of trash! Damn it..." Dema’s face was extremely ugly. He roared hoarsely, "This Weber City is mine!"
"Tie him up and send him to the mines(kill him)," Bella cast a cold glance at him and waved her hand in disgust.
"Yes, Boss." Two beastkin knights stepped forward with hemp ropes, ready to bind him.
"No, you can’t treat me like this! Otherwise, you will regret it! Yes, you will regret this!"
Hearing that he was going to be sent to the mines, Dema panicked completely and shouted frantically, "My sister is King Makro’s wife! If you treat me like this, my sister will not let you off!"
"Oh?" Bella raised an eyebrow. She hadn’t expected Dema’s sister to be the woman of the Maner Principality’s King. With a connection like that, it would probably bring quite a bit of trouble in the future.
However, was Bella someone who feared trouble? Obviously not. If she were afraid of trouble, she wouldn’t have come to the Chaotic Lands in the first place; she would have just gone to join Ayesha. Moreover, Bella absolutely loathed being threatened.
"Tie him up and send him to the mines," Bella’s eyes narrowed as she spoke coldly. "If he doesn’t work, he doesn’t eat."
"Yes," The two responded. They moved nimbly, tying Dema up into a tight ’dumpling’ in a few swift motions.
"You can’t do this to me! My sister is deeply favored by the King! When she finds out something happened to me, she definitely won’t spare you!" Dema struggled, yelling with a deathly pale face.
"Take him away," Bella frowned and waved her hand, resisting the urge to just stab him to death right then and there.
"You can’t send me to the mines! You can’t... Urgh..." Dema’s screams grew fainter and fainter as he was dragged away.
"..." Bella rubbed her temples. This was going to be tricky to handle. Who would have thought that the City Lord of a minor place like Weber City had a sister who was King Makro’s woman?
"Boss, what should we do?" A beastkin knight couldn’t help but ask.
"What should we do? Autumn is approaching. The wheat in the Maner Principality is almost ready for harvest. Makro won’t have the time to deal with us for now," Bella said deeply.
It was well known that every year during the wheat harvest in the Maner Principality, many bandits coveted the crops, and people from the other two principalities would secretly send forces to snatch the wheat.
Right now, Makro’s top priority is protecting the wheat. He wouldn’t send too many people to deal with her for the time being.
If it was only a small force, Bella truly wasn’t afraid. Moreover, she also had her eyes on that wheat.
"Pass down the order: detain all the knights. As for the citizens in the city, let anyone who wishes to leave go free," Bella ordered in a low voice.
"Yes," The beastkin nodded and retreated.
From this moment on, Weber City belonged to Bella. The next step was reorganization—starting with repairing the city walls.
