Chapter 833: Chapter 830 White Granulated Sugar

Early in the morning, lively sounds continuously drifted out from the dining room inside Sedona City’s castle.

"Mina, you’re stealing mine again! You’ve already eaten so much!" Annie pouted, her hands protectively shielding the scrambled eggs with tomatoes in front of her.

"I just took one little piece," A hint of amusement flashed in Mina’s eyes.

"You always say that. Look, it’s not even half left!" Annie glared at Mina in frustration, though her hands didn’t stop shoveling the scrambled eggs with tomatoes into her mouth.

"So stingy," Mina muttered, puffing out her cheeks.

"Look, Catherine and Lucy still have some," Annie’s eyes darted around, gesturing for the cat-eared girl to look at Catherine and Lucy’s breakfasts.

Catherine and Lucy silently shoved the scrambled eggs with tomatoes in front of them into their mouths. Chewing with puffed cheeks, they mumbled indistinctly, "All gone."

"..." Mina’s face fell, and she turned her attention back to Annie.

"You mutated catgirl, stealing mine again..." Annie said in annoyance. Just when she wasn’t paying attention for a split second, Mina had snatched the biggest piece of scrambled egg.

"Did not," Mina mumbled unclearly, chewing the food in her mouth.

"Then what’s that piece of egg on the corner of your mouth?" Annie narrowed her eyes, pointing at the corner of Mina’s lips.

"Is there? Not anymore," Mina said, without batting an eye or blushing, as her tongue swept the tiny piece of egg back into her mouth.

"Ah, you’re doing it again..." Annie shouted in frustration.

Lucas watched their playful banter, having long grown accustomed to this scene. If they didn’t bicker like this, that would be abnormal.

Breakfast concluded in an atmosphere of food-snatching. The beast-eared girls all sat back in their chairs, completely stuffed.

After finishing breakfast, Lucas got up and went to the study, followed by Mina and Annie, who needed to report a few things to him.

Entering the study, Lucas sat down in his chair and began reviewing the day’s government affairs, as well as the orders placed by major merchants and nobles.

These orders were only dispatched by Annie after Lucas had selected them. After all, Lucas wasn’t willing to cooperate with just any merchant or noble.

For example, merchants with poor reputations, or nobles who sought cooperation but acted with haughty arrogance—Lucas wouldn’t even consider working with them right now.

Tap, tap, tap...

Annie and Mina walked in, sat down in their chairs, drank some tea, and began the day’s work.

Annie picked up the notebook she carried with her and began her report. "Master, the white granulated sugar you had the workshop researchers develop earlier has been successfully produced."

"Oh? That was quite fast. Let’s go to the workshop and have a look later. If it meets the standards, we’ll begin mass production," Lucas said in surprise.

"Master, is it going to be used to make lollipops?" Annie’s eyes lit up as she asked.

She now only ate the lollipops made within the castle. She disliked the ones sold in the Grand Market and the Gold Coin Supermarket because they weren’t sweet enough and lacked flavor.

"A portion of it will be used for producing lollipops and iced drinks," Lucas nodded.

"That’s great!" Annie became excited.

"Let’s go. We’ll head to the workshop first to take a look," Lucas stood up.

"Okay," Mina and Annie replied, following behind him.

The trio quickly boarded the carriage and, under the escort of the war wolves squad, headed in the direction of the workshop district.

"The Master’s carriage is still the most comfortable," Annie leaned against the carriage compartment and stretched lazily.

Annie often had to take carriages because she had to run around everywhere to handle orders and supervise the workers dispatching goods. The carriages in the city were standard issue, so naturally, they weren’t as comfortable as Lucas’s dedicated carriage. The shock absorption alone was on a completely different level.

"Once rubber is produced, all the carriages in the city can be upgraded. With new wheels, they will run much smoother," Lucas smiled faintly.

Discussions regarding rubber were already underway. Once workshops and bases were established over there, rubber would begin being transported back to Sedona City.

Tap, tap, tap...

More than ten minutes later, the carriage stopped in the workshop district.

"My Lord, we have arrived at the workshops," Chris called out respectfully from outside.

Lucas, Mina, and Annie stepped down from the carriage one after another and walked into the workshop compound.

The development of white granulated sugar was currently housed in the new workshops—the newly built factory buildings deep within the workshop district.

In the future, a wide variety of goods would be produced here, so Lucas had simply built many more factory buildings in this area.

These weren’t just for manufacturing new products; items currently in production also needed to be scaled up. For example, canned goods and liquor. They already had a massive stack of orders, and expanding the production scale was necessary to keep up with the shipping speed.

A few minutes later, Lucas and the others arrived at the place where white granulated sugar was manufactured.

"My Lord." The person in charge of developing the white sugar hurried over to greet them. She was a middle-aged woman with a kind smile on her face.

"Take me to see the white granulated sugar you produced," Lucas said with a faint smile.

"Right away," The manager nodded. She led Lucas and the others into a room within the factory, pulled out a linen bag, opened it, and placed it on a table nearby.

Lucas reached into the linen bag and grabbed a pinch of white sugar. Rather than calling it granulated sugar, it was more like lumps of sugar. The color was slightly beige, and it needed to be crushed before it could truly be called ’granulated’ white sugar.

"It seems the filtration step still needs further optimization," Lucas said to the woman.

"We are already trying to find ways to improve it," The manager replied respectfully. The white sugar produced here was indeed a bit yellower than the white sugar Lucas had brought over as a sample.

"Mhm, the taste is sweet enough, though," Lucas broke off a small piece and put it in his mouth, feeling very satisfied.

"Let me try," Annie asked curiously.

Lucas broke off a piece and popped it into Annie’s mouth, his finger accidentally brushing past the fox-eared girl’s red lips.

Annie’s face flushed slightly red as she said happily, "It’s really sweet. It can definitely be used to make lollipops."

"Give me a little," Mina pouted slightly, her eyes smiling as she looked at Lucas.

"Alright, Mina can try some too." Smiling, Lucas broke off another piece of sugar and fed it into Mina’s mouth in the exact same manner.

As the sugar melted in Mina’s mouth, it brought her a sense of delight. "It is very sweet."

"We can put it into production. The slightly darker color won’t affect anything. Once the filtration process is optimized, we can just swap it in," Lucas told the manager. He then added, "I will have people send the sugarcane and sugar beets over."

The sugarcane and sugar beets were still in the fields right now. He needed to have people harvest them and transport them over.

"Yes, my lord." The manager nodded in acknowledgment.
