Chapter 831: Chapter 828 Siege

"Go quickly and notify Lord Dema," Ganmeng roared at the knight beside him while standing on the city wall.

"Yes, sir!" The knight shuddered, fear evident on his face, laying bare the terror in his heart.

Looking down at the panicked commoners below, Ganmeng felt incredibly frustrated. The assembly bell had just been rung, and it would take some time for the knights to gather.

Currently, at the city gates, there were only a dozen or so knights—the ones responsible for guard duty and manning the gates.

Ganmeng watched those few knights pacing anxiously inside the gates, concern etched on his face.

The knight who came to report had stated that the attackers this time were beastkin knights—a total of one thousand—and that they were all equipped with weapons and armor made of steel.

This made Ganmeng’s mood exceptionally terrible. This time was unlike the previous ones. The previous attackers were human knights; now, it was beastkin knights, who were far more difficult to deal with.

Looking at the damaged city walls again, Ganmeng’s confidence dropped another ten percent. The walls were on the verge of collapsing. How were they supposed to withstand a beastkin knight assault?

Weber City only had five or six hundred knights in total. Not only were their numbers nearly half that of the beastkin knights, but their physical strength and equipment were also inferior. How was this battle supposed to be fought?

Thinking of this, Ganmeng wished he could chop down Dema right now. If it weren’t for his reluctance to spend money to speed up the wall repairs, today’s battle might not have been this difficult.

Ganmeng waited on the wall for the knights to arrive while keeping a close eye on the situation outside the city.

Tap, tap, tap...

More than ten minutes later, dust billowed from the dirt road in the distance, and the sound of hooves gradually grew clearer. Soon, black specks appeared, growing larger as they approached. Over a thousand beastkin knights on warhorses rapidly closed in on Weber City.

Bella rode at the very front. Sitting atop her warhorse, she stared at Weber City ahead, her eyes filled with sharp, murderous intent. "Halt!"

She raised her hand and shouted, coming to a stop several hundred meters away from Weber City. With a one-handed pull on the reins, the warhorse reared up with a neigh, its front hooves rising high before landing steadily back on the ground.

Ganmeng’s expression changed drastically. The imposing aura they displayed upon arrival was overwhelming.

His heart burned with anxiety because Weber City’s knights had still not arrived. No one expected a beastkin knight assault to happen so suddenly, and with such speed. By the time they were spotted, they were already nearing Weber City, leaving absolutely no time to prepare.

Meanwhile, at the castle where the City Lord of Weber City resided, the knight ordered by Ganmeng to deliver the message had rushed straight inside.

"How bold! Who permitted you to enter?" Dema glared, his body trembling with every step he took, looking very much like a massive meatball.

"City Lord, this is bad! beastkin knights are attacking the city!" The knight bowed his head and shouted respectfully.

"What? Beastkin knights are attacking the city?"

Dema’s face quivered, his eyes widening in pure terror and panic. His voice trembled as he asked, "How many? How many beastkin came?"

"One thousand beastkin knights, all equipped with steel spears and armor. They are probably already at the city gates by now." Looking at Dema’s panicked state, the knight felt a deeper sense of sorrow internally.

With a City Lord like this in the Chaotic Lands, Weber City would fall sooner or later. The only reason it had stood firm through the past few battles was entirely due to the presence of the formidable Knight Ganmeng.

"What do we do? What do we do?" Dema paced back and forth in the room, his body waddling.

The knight opened his mouth but didn’t know what to say. If you, the Lord of a city, don’t know what to do, what more could he say?

"Right, we have Knight Ganmeng! He will definitely be able to hold them off. Everything will be fine, just like before," Dema seemed to have grasped a lifeline, his entire body suddenly relaxing.

"My Lord, this time is different. The attackers are beastkin, and their weapons and equipment are superior to ours. This..." The knight, kneeling on one knee, warned in a deep voice.

"So what if they’re beastkin? With Ganmeng here, we can win! If we can’t win, then what am I feeding you all for?" Dema’s eyes went wide as he reprimanded him.

The knight was left completely speechless, his face flushing red with anger. He stood up directly and left the castle; he had to return to fight in the battle.

Tap, tap, tap...

Dema froze, staring blankly at the knight disappearing through the doorway, and roared, "Get back here! Who gave you permission to leave?"

However, the knight had already rushed out of the castle, mounted his warhorse, and galloped straight for the city gates.

Tap, tap, tap...

All the beastkin knights came to a halt, gathering in perfect formation around Bella.

"Today, this Weber City changes masters," Obi rode his horse forward a few paces. Looking at Knight Ganmeng on the city wall, he shouted coldly, "Surrender! Open the city gates!"

"Don’t speak so absolutely," Ganmeng responded with a dark face.

"With a City Lord possessing the virtues of yours, he isn’t worth your service," Obi paused for a moment, then continued shouting, "As far as I know, you were once a knight of the Maner Principality’s Royal Family. Our Boss Bella welcomes capable knights to serve her."

Attack the mind before attacking the city; sow discord with words first. This was something Nancy had taught him.

Long before they decided to attack Weber City, they had already spent half a month gathering intelligence about everything here, most of which came from the underground Bounty Guild.

"Save your breath," Ganmeng responded unmoved. He had indeed once been a knight of the Maner Principality’s Royal Family. However, because he had made a mistake, Dema’s father had ultimately pleaded for mercy and saved him, asking him to support Dema. Otherwise, given his temperament, he would have left a long time ago.

"Since that’s the case, kill!" Bella shouted, waving the spear in her hand.

"Kill!!" Obi brandished his spear and shouted loudly.

Tap, tap, tap...

"Kill!"

The beastkin roared and began charging toward Weber City, holding wooden shields overhead.

Tap, tap, tap...

At this very moment, Weber City’s knights finally arrived. Over five hundred knights stood by inside the city gates.

Weber City’s walls had numerous breaches. Some places were so damaged that the beastkin knights could scale them barehanded. Weber City’s knights simply didn’t have time to shoot arrows.

Ganmeng’s expression was grave as he shouted, "Hold them back! Absolutely do not let them break through the city gates!"

"A waste of time," Bella snorted coldly. She dismounted, spear in hand, leaped, and using the damaged sections of the wall, scaled to the top in just a few bounds.

"Get down from there!" Ganmeng lunged forward, thrusting his sword directly at her.

"Heh..."

Bella’s expression remained unchanged. Her spear swept horizontally, blocking Ganmeng’s longsword. The two immediately engaged in fierce combat atop the city wall.

"Assault the walls! Kill!" Obi roared at the top of his lungs. He also led the charge upward, engaging in a bloody melee on the city walls.
