Chapter 830: Chapter 827 Iron Bell

In the Chaotic Lands, the first rays of morning sunlight spilled across the earth. Two days had passed since Bella’s last territory inspection.

At this moment, within the territory, Bella sat atop her warhorse. Before her stood one thousand beastkin knights, all clad in steel armor, holding steel spears, and mounted on warhorses.

The force accompanying her to battle this time was the one thousand beastkin knights standing before her, all equipped with weapons and gear from Sedona City, specifically to ensure a swift and decisive victory.

The remaining several hundred beastkin knights stayed behind to guard the territory against any surprise enemy attacks.

The target this time was Weber City in the Chaotic Lands, a mid-sized city also belonging to the Maner Principality. However, more than half of the city’s walls had long been ruined following several previous wars.

This was one of the reasons Bella had targeted Weber City; it was also one of the cities closest to her territory.

Looking at the squad of beastkin knights before her, a solemn look filled Bella’s eyes as she commanded deeply, "Everyone, today we attack Weber City. Only success is permitted; failure is not an option!"

"Take Weber City! Take Weber City!" The thousand-plus beastkin knights shouted loudly, their faces filled with excitement.

Obi gripped his steel spear tightly atop his warhorse, his eyes burning with fighting spirit. After breaking in the new equipment over the past few days, the beastkin knights were coordinating reasonably well with one another.

"Now, move out!" Bella shouted loudly. With soaring morale, she pulled the reins, turned her horse, and headed out of the city.

Tap, tap, tap... The momentum of over a thousand warhorses galloping together was terrifying, as if the ground itself was shaking, causing the gravel on the surface to bounce.

Nancy stood on the city wall, watching the thousand-plus knights disappear past the gates.

Then, the city gates slammed shut, and the beastkin on the walls began to wait—waiting for the news of victory to arrive.

Weber City was a half-day’s horseback ride from Bella’s territory. Setting off in the morning meant they would arrive by noon.

As noon approached, Weber City seemed entirely unaware of the impending beastkin arrival.

On the ruined city walls, several knights on guard duty were secretly drinking.

"Do you really think it’s okay for us to be doing this?" A newly arrived round-faced knight asked, holding a wine cup. He took a sip, looking a bit worried.

"It’s fine. Head Knight Ganmeng has to go to the castle today to report to Lord Dema. He won’t be back that quickly," Another knight with a small mustache leaned back against the battlements, taking sip after sip.

"Exactly, exactly. Don’t worry about it. But speaking of which, I’ve never had wine this good. It’s from Sedona City, right?" A knight downed the wine in his cup in one gulp, a look of satisfaction on his face.

"When you have the chance, have your brother make another trip to Sedona City and buy a few more bottles," The mustached knight said, looking at a bald knight. He was the one who had brought the wine.

The wine was brought back from Sedona City by the bald knight’s younger brother. To win people over, he had secretly brought it up here.

"No problem. I’ll tell him when I go back on leave," The bald knight waved his hand grandly.

"I’m afraid you won’t have any leave left to take," A gloomy voice suddenly rang out. The Head Knight of Weber City, Ganmeng, appeared behind them with a squad of knights.

"Lord Ganmeng! H-how are you back already? Weren’t you supposed to be at the..." The mustached knight collapsed onto the ground. The wooden wine cup slipped from his trembling hands, landing on the ground.

"If I hadn’t come back, I wouldn’t have seen this," Ganmeng’s face was full of murderous intent. He never expected that just moments after he left, these knights would actually dare to start drinking.

"My Lord, we just lost control for a moment. Please forgive us this once!"

"Yes, My Lord!"

The other knights immediately dropped to their knees, sweat breaking out on their foreheads. It was clear they were terrified of Head Knight Ganmeng.

"Lord Ganmeng, would you like a drink too? This wine from Sedona City is truly delicious," A knight who was clearly more than half drunk raised his cup and slurred.

The faces of the others instantly turned deathly pale. This man standing before them killed without batting an eye. Not only had this fool broken military discipline, but he was also being so insolent as to offer him a drink? There was only one end to such behavior—death!

If it weren’t for the existence of Knight Ganmeng, Weber City would probably have been swallowed up by other nobles a long time ago.

Sure enough, Head Knight Ganmeng’s entire face turned incredibly grim. A flash of murderous intent crossed his pupils. He gripped the hilt of his knight’s sword single-handedly, drew it out, and with a single stroke, chopped off the head of the knight offering the toast.

Schwing!!

Spurt!!

Streams of blood sprayed from the severed neck, splattering all over the kneeling knights. The drunk knight’s head rolled on the ground a few times before slowly coming to a stop, his eyes still wide open in shock.

Seeing this, the other knights were scared senseless. They all slumped onto the ground, scrambling backward on their hands and feet.

"Tie them all up and throw them into the dungeon," Ganmeng ordered coldly, flicking the blood off his longsword.

"Yes, sir."

The knights standing behind Ganmeng rushed forward and dragged the men away.

"Lord Ganmeng, forgive us! We won’t do it again next time..."

"..."

Ganmeng’s expression remained dark, turning a deaf ear to their pleas for mercy.

He hadn’t expected that in this Chaotic Land, there were actually knights who dared to drink while on guard duty.

It must be noted that Weber City had endured three battles over the past four months, repelling the enemy by the skin of their teeth every single time.

Did this make these knights start to let it go to their heads?

If Weber City’s knights weren’t equipped with excellent weapons and armor, they would probably have been conquered by the enemy long ago. Couldn’t they see the city walls were still under repair?!

The reason he went to the castle today was to discuss accelerating the repairs on the city walls with City Lord Dema. He never expected that the City Lord, simply to save money, would refuse to speed up the process.

At that moment, Ganmeng had barely restrained the urge to slice off Dema’s head with a single stroke of his sword. Finally holding back, he returned to guard the city gates early in a fit of anger—only to witness the scene that had just unfolded.

"This is bad! Over a thousand beastkin knights have been spotted three thousand meters ahead, heading straight for Weber City!" A knight rode frantically towards them from outside the city, his face etched with terror.

"Prepare for battle! Close the city gates!" Hearing this, Ganmeng’s expression changed drastically as he shouted loudly.

Clang, clang, clang...

The massive iron bell on the city wall was struck.
