Neo decided to pull her into a conversation to pass the time.

There wasn’t much he could do right now.

So, he had decided to ask her a question on something he wanted to be clear about.

Suren blinked.

"What do you mean, benefactor. Arranged marriages?"

Neo felt that surely, that word couldn’t be so strange that she had no idea what it meant.

"Yes. Arranged marriages. I am sure you know about them."

Suren nodded.

It was a vigorous nod.

"I know what arranged marriages are, benefactor. But why do you think the families will be involved in such a thing?"

She felt genuinely puzzled.

Neo wondered if he could be wrong.

"What about your engagement with Kotil?"

"What about it, benefactor?"

She seemed to have realized something.

"Oh, benefactor. It cannot be right?"

She almost shook her head.

"Do you really think that the two of us were forced together?"

She found it funny.

She couldn’t hold back her laughter.

Many people weren’t too pleased with her boisterous laughter.

But Suren remained her usual self.

She didn’t care.

"No. No. No, Benefactor. Kotil and I are a match made in the heavens."

She pointed upwards, as if to signify the heavens.

Naturally, she didn’t mean the roof of the tunnel with its scattered glowing stones.

She meant the heavens.

The one of the Immortal World.

A concept most cultivators believed to exist.

And always they looked up to the boundless sky, as if to signify the ever present watch of the heavens.

Their belief was not in the sky itself, but something beyond.

Something they believed to be present in every aspect of the world.

"I went to him, confessed the yearnings of my heart, and told him I love him. He accepted."

She smiled.

"Our families had no objection to our match, and now we are almost together. "

Neo had only one thought when he heard all she had said.

A brave woman.

She was indeed a very brave woman, to have done what she did.

Or maybe that was just the way she was.

Never afraid to say what was on her mind.

He looked at her, as she wrapped her arms around herself.

There was no doubt.

She was a woman, who was truly in love.

"Of course, he didn’t accept at first."

She clenched her fist, and raised it before her face.

"But I convinced him, and he fell to my persuasions and womanly charm."

Neo almost laughed.

Kotil was a very lucky man, he didn’t just know it.

Someone snuck up behind Suren, and bonked her head.

It was her friend.

Samath.

The woman remained regal, despite being the one who had been in the most fights, among the limit breakers.

Nothing looked out of place on her.

"What nonsense have you been on about since."

Suren rubbed her head.

"What do you mean nonsense. I was just telling my benefactor about how Kotil and I are a match made in heaven."

She pursed her lips.

"And how despite all the travails of this world, we ended up together."

Neo was speechless.

Why did her recap of their conversation suddenly took on a new dimension.

This woman was truly something else, she wasn’t acting her age at all.

Samath gave her a deep look.

Knowing her friend, she wondered how much bullshit had came out of her mouth today, already.

"Maybe you should go watch over your people, or go meet Kotil."

"Ah. Forgive me, my lady."

She bowed to Samath.

Samath hands already rose to cover her face, the moment she heard her friend’s words.

Neo was still wondering what the woman was up to.

Then he heard the most ridiculous thing to come out of her mouth yet.

"I should have known. You and benefactor already met in the legacy. You were the only woman there who reached the top ten. Of course."

She nodded.

She seemed to have just arrived at a great realization.

Samath could no longer bear with her nonsense.

"Of course what?"

She asked that question with utmost resignation.

She knew what nonsense was coming next.

And it was best to get it out of the way, while she could.

As soon as she could.

"Think about it."

Suren acted like she had just discovered some profound truth.

"You two would have struck it together. At first sight. A wonderful, powerful man like Benefactor here. And you."

She gestured at her friend, Samath.

"A powerful, heroic woman. Full of valor."

She seemed to have been struck by a sudden, wonderful inspiration.

She became excited.

"No wonder, I felt you have become even more morose than usual, as of late. But ever since we entered this place, you have become happy. I can even glimpse a smile on your lips every now and then."

Samath didn’t know whether to cry or laugh.

This friend of hers was a really wonderful woman, who cared not for embarrassing her friends or herself.

"Suren. Please, that’s enough."

"Ok. Ok. I know when to stop. I have taken enough time from you lovebirds. I will leave now."

"Benefactor."

She turned to Neo.

Her demeanor was absolutely serious.

"Please take care of my friend."

This woman was a wonder of nature.

Neo wondered how she even came to this conclusion.

Samath absolutely gave up on saying anything.

Suren didn’t bother them any longer.

She left.

To go meet Kotil, no doubt.

Samath was the only person left at Neo’s side.

She had come here to meet him.

To ask some things from him.

But she felt too embarrassed, after Suren’s nonsense, to keep staying there.

"Is there something you want to tell me?"

Neo could feel her hesitation.

He was curious about what she wanted to say.

"Not really. I was only curious what the inheritance in the legacy was all about."

Since he asked, Samath tossed out her hesitation.

She wondered if he would ignore her question.

Neo didn’t.

"It isn’t as special as you think it to be. All I did was train. And most of the time, it was unsupervised."

Samath nodded.

He didn’t say much, but she didn’t let that bother her.

It was just on a whim, that she had come here.

She wasn’t too concerned with an inheritance that had nothing to do with her.

There would be many more opportunities that would come her way in this world.

That legacy was just one among many.

It was never meant to be hers.

But surely, there was the right one somewhere, that existed just for her.

No one bothered Neo in the hours that followed.

He also got bored, somewhere along the way.

He turned within himself, to his bloodline and partner, who had now developed a sudden streak of playfulness.

Maybe, somehow, the two of them could find a way to relieve their boredom.

He rested on the tunnel wall.

There was no need for him to worry about any strange creature sneaking up on him.

He had activated a technique to guard his body.

Anything foolish enough to come near, will bear the consequences.

He looked deep within his being.

Where Devour was ever present.

Like it would probably be forever.

But now, there was no aura radiating from it.

There was just stillness.

A quiet silence.

One unlike anything Neo had ever felt before.
