SSS-Rank Lord Supreme: The Ultimate Devourer

Chapter 65 Neo, The Reality Denier

Neo stared at those words.

It was the only thing in his sight now.

They were four large words that were displayed in golden colors.

THE ULTIMATE DEVOURER SYSTEM.

He forgot about the domain.

The exploration.

Everything else.

Nothing else mattered to him than the need, that currently burned in his heart.

He felt the deep need to understand these words, that had came out of nowhere.

Was this something cooked up by Devour?

The same words had remained on the screen for a while now.

But there was a sudden change.

The screen turned from black to transparent.

Beneath those words, a line appeared.

It was a line that stretched from one end of the screen to the other.

The horizontal line then slowly transformed into a small rectangle.

Looking at the empty space within the new rectangle, Neo had a feeling that something was still missing.

Then, he felt the rectangle stretch.

From one end of the screen to another.

He even had a feeling that it had stretched beyond the screen.

Beyond his sight.

Far beyond distances he could comprehend.

Then he felt it snap back.

Falling back into the confines of the screen.

As if whatever vast, infinite distances it had just projected, was nothing but an illusion.

The rectangle now had something fill its previous empty space.

It had turned a blazing crimson.

Then he saw a golden color, just like the one the words were written in, fill it from the left end.

It was just a small fill.

Nothing compared to the rest of the space occupied by the blazing crimson.

New words formed under the bar.

[The Ultimate Devourer System has been activated!]

[Devour Level - 1]

[0.2% to next level]

Neo was totally confused now.

What level?

This felt surreal in every sense he could think of.

[Hi, Neo.]

Neo blinked.

There was no change.

The words remained there.

He closed his eyes.

But it wasn’t long before the same words appeared behind his closed lids.

[It’s me, Devour!]

It really was Devour.

[This is the best way I could think of, to communicate with you.]

Neo opened his eyes.

There was no point in closing them.

He sighed.

This was as real, as real could be.

[If that doddering Supreme had not been so focused on chasing us away, I would have been able to communicate with you earlier.]

It received no reply.

Not even a hint of acknowledgement.

It was like Neo had fallen into shock.

Devour also noticed that he hadn’t said anything, or moved.

[Neo. You can speak to me with your thoughts. You have no need to actually say anything out loud.]

Neo remained mute.

His thoughts seemed to have frozen.

No activity could be felt from him.

[Come on! Do you actually prefer the vague way that bloodline bearers communicate with their bloodlines?]

Neo wasn’t actually frozen.

He just didn’t know how to deal with this inconceivable situation.

He turned his whole attention beyond the screen.

He watched as the limit breakers struggled with the strange creatures.

That looked normal.

Very normal.

Absolutely normal.

[Fine! Suit yourself.]

The words on the screen changed.

[Name - Neo]

[Rank - F-Rank]

[Cultivation - First Limit Break]

[Apparent Bloodline - Swallower]

[True Lineage - Devour]

[Devour Level - 1]

[Experience - 0.2%]

Neo looked at the list.

This was somewhat enlightening.

He had no idea what some of it really meant.

There were some words near the bottom of the screen.

Dismiss Status Panel.

Neo didn’t think twice.

The same way he used the common net, he clicked on it.

He continued observing the limit breakers.

They were gradually getting into a steady rhythm, as they now trashed the strange creatures.

Without thinking too deeply.

He moved to speed up their exploration.

He pointed a finger forward, and tapped once.

The air became still.

It was an illusion felt by everyone in the tunnel.

Their actions paused.

There was no prompting required.

Then there was a pop.

Whatever had held the air still, had released it with a sudden move.

All the strange creatures dissipated.

The riloma scattered on the ground.

It didn’t matter that the strange creatures were limit breakers.

To Neo, they were simply too weak.

Not even qualified to be called limit breakers.

Everyone turned to look at Neo, who slowly brought his hand down to his side.

The move he made now was just too overbearing.

But no one said anything.

There was no complaint.

He was strong, and the strong had the right to do as they pleased.

They simply accepted what happened.

There would be more opportunities ahead.

And hopefully, he won’t keep being overbearing.

Neo still had a hard time dealing with the screen that had appeared in front of him.

He truly hoped it was just Devour being bored, and deciding to play some tricks.

It had probably done as its name suggested.

It had Devoured some aspects of the common net.

And like it did with the Swallower bloodline, it had replicated it.

The riloma that fell from the strange creatures Neo killed, had been packed by the F-Rank cultivators.

It was time to continue forward.

The strange creatures that kept appearing after that, were just the normal stone-like ones.

The F-Rank cultivators were back to their usual grind.

There would be one or two strange creatures at the first limit break, appearing occasionally.

However, they were easily dealt with.

It seemed some news about Neo, had already spread among the limit breakers.

The legacy was something that was known to everyone here.

When they learned that he was the one who took the first place.

That he was the inheritor of that legacy, and that he was here among them.

Most of them couldn’t resist being amazed at that fact.

Most of them were probably attributing his current prowess to the legacy.

And they would be somewhat right.

The truth was that, he couldn’t have reached his current prowess in such a short time, without the help of the Ancient Supreme.

"Benefactor."

It was Suren.

She had come next to him.

"Look at all of them. They are admiring you now."

He had noticed that already.

"I had to let them know your prowess, benefactor."

It made sense.

She was the one most likely to spread his feats to everyone.

Kotil and Samath didn’t look like people who talked much.

And Tukitan probably wasn’t going to say much too.

"It would be unfair to you, to have them all think that you are a nobody."

Suren seemed to think she was fighting for his sake.

"You are the one who inherited the legacy they all could not win. You triumphed over those damned demons too."

But Neo felt she just loved gossip, and causing trouble.

He didn’t care what these people thought of him.

"I heard that you were in the third level when you entered the legacy. And now, you are a limit breaker that has surpassed all of them."

She looked him over, and nodded.

"You are not bad yourself, benefactor."

Indeed, she was right.

He was not bad himself.

Neo agreed with her on that.

He turned to ask her a question that had been on his mind.

"Do your families also engage in arranged marriages?"
