SSS Awakening: I Can Class Change at will

Chapter 305 Fighting an Evolver [3]

Chapter 305  Fighting an Evolver [3]

At that exact instant, Moon activated [Air Step], using the ability to change his momentum entirely, sidestepping through solid air to avoid the counterattack.

‘What?! He just stepped on air!’ The Evolver’s mind raced, as he watched Moon sidestep his counter-attack, to perform his very own.

Moon’s follow-up strikes found their mark repeatedly, his [Bird Dance] technique creating a devastating combo of lightning-infused cuts that opened multiple severe wounds across the Evolver’s torso and limbs.

Blood began flowing freely from dozens of precisely placed strikes. For the first time in this fight, the Evolver’s expression showed real terror rather than superiority.

Within just two seconds, Moon had landed more than ten powerful sword strikes, each one enhanced with crackling lightning energy. The accumulated current flowing through the Evolver’s body caused his spear to slip from nerveless fingers as his muscles began failing him.

His powerful body began shutting down as blood loss took its toll from the numerous deep cuts and his vision started blurring. Despite his strong constitution, the Evolver couldn’t withstand such concentrated, high-level attacks from Moon’s combined arsenal.

[You have killed a level 26 Evolver]

[You have gained 2000 Lives] [Inheritor of Flaws has partially activated]

Moon’s relentless sword strikes only ceased when the notification flashed across his vision. He couldn’t afford to be careless in his approach—he didn’t dare underestimate an Evolver’s potential for last-second retaliation, even when apparently defeated.

“I actually did it. I killed an Evolver,” Moon whispered, a small puff of cold air escaping his mouth as his adrenaline dropped down, and his exhaustion took over.

His legs gave out, and he collapsed to the construction site’s debris-covered ground, no longer able to support his own weight. The battle against the Spearman had depleted nearly his entire stamina and mana reserves.

If he had held back even slightly, Moon knew with certainty that he would have been the corpse rather than the man before him. Victory had required almost every tool at his disposal—runes, elemental magic, swordsmanship, and cunning working in perfect unison. Despite emerging with relatively minor injuries, the fight had been anything but easy.

“I would have died if he wasn’t arrogant enough to believe he could toy with me,” Moon muttered, staring at the corpse before him.

From the moment the Evolver had appeared, Moon had been planning this exact scenario. He hadn’t simply fled in panic upon seeing him—that would be foolish.

He had deliberately led his opponent to this isolated construction site where he could use his entire arsenal of powers without worrying about witnesses or any leaked information.

From the moment Moon brought the Evolver to the construction site, the battle had become a life and death battle. After all, Moon couldn’t simply escape after showcasing his powers.

After resting for approximately one minute—just enough time to regain the strength to move—Moon forced himself to stand despite his weak legs. He couldn’t remain here much longer. The main battlefield was only a few kilometers away, and the masked attackers could potentially arrive at any moment.

Moon immediately scanned the Evolver’s body for tracking devices or communication equipment. He found a communication device, but found no tracking device, he stored it alongside the corpse in his storage ring and began departing the damaged construction site.

The building showed significant damage from their battle, but Moon didn’t care about property destruction. Fighting continued in the distance as Awakeners, Evolvers, and possibly even Surpassers engaged in deadly combat.

“The Awakener’s Association can pay for the damages. They have plenty of money anyways, meanwhile, I’m merely a poor awakener.”

On his way toward his apartment, Moon’s phone rang. Answering immediately, he heard Selene’s panicked voice.

“Moon? Are you okay? There’s an attack happening near our apartment! I just heard about it upon returning from the portal!”

“Yes, I’m fine,” Moon reassured her. “I was almost caught in the attack, but fortunate timing allowed me to escape. Where is Yara?”

“Thank god,” Selene sighed audibly with relief. “Yara is with me now, so don’t worry about her safety. We should meet somewhere away from the danger zone and stick together.”

“Agreed. Let’s meet at…” Moon immediately provided code for a location relatively close to his current position, whilst not too far from Selene’s.

Having Selene nearby would be crucial for survival in such a tough time. As an Evolver, her presence would significantly improve their chances of survival.

“Okay, we’ll be there in a few minutes! Stay safe, and don’t do anything reckless, understood?”

“Understood.”

Moon ended the call and continued toward their rendezvous point. As he walked, he couldn’t stop thinking about his recent kill. For reasons he didn’t fully comprehend, his title: Inheritor of Flaws had activated after he had eliminated the Evolver, suggesting some kind of interaction had occurred between his title and his achievement of killing the Evolver.

The live gained were enormous considering the Evolver was an entry-level Evolver. Almost double the the amount he was currently getting for S-Rank beasts.

The results that the title would bring out remained unclear, but the fact that he had successfully killed an Evolver as an Awakener was something that was unheard of.

Whatever was happening to him, it was becoming increasingly apparent that Moon was walking a path few awakeners had ever traveled—if any.

Moon arrived at the designated meeting point to find Selene and Yara already waiting for him, both clearly anxious about the ongoing crisis.

The moment Selene spotted him approaching, she rushed over with worried eyes and began conducting a thorough inspection of his body, searching for any signs of injury or damage.

“Are you hurt? Did anything happen to you? You look exhausted,” she said rapidly, her hands hovering near him.

Seeing his obviously fatigued state despite the absence of visible wounds, Selene’s expression grew more concerned.

“Moon, did you get caught up in the fighting? You look like you’ve been through a battle.”

Moon nodded wearily. “I did fight, actually. I encountered an Evolver.”

Selene’s eyes widened in shock and disbelief. “You fought an Evolver and lived to tell the tale? Not even a single light injury on your body?”
