SSS Awakening: I Can Class Change at will

Chapter 304 Fighting the Evolver [2]

Chapter 304  Fighting the Evolver [2]

Moon controlled the spell in a wide arc, bringing it around behind his opponent while the Evolver’s attention was fixed forward on the chase.

He had thought the trick wouldn’t work, but the Evolver was too cocky—and the plan worked.

The Evolver’s body convulsed violently as intense current coursed through his body, his muscles spasming.

“You—” he tried to speak through gritted teeth, but the words came out as pained gasps.

The attack hurt—it hurt significantly more than he’d anticipated from an awakener-level opponent!

The moment his Raiju connected, Moon immediately reversed direction, his Staff of Fire and Water materializing in his grip as he channeled [Ignite]. The weapon’s properties amplified his spell-casting speed and power.

Moon released the compressed fireball without hesitation, praying that the Evolver would still be paralyzed when the attack reached him in approximately one second.

The fireball tore through the air toward the temporarily helpless Evolver, carrying Moon’s hopes for victory.

BOOM!

The Evolver managed to move at the last possible instant, but he couldn’t completely escape the blast radius of Moon’s fireball.

Intense flames erupted around him, immediately beginning to consume his clothing and equipment. Fire clung to his body like a living leech, eating away at fabric and searing his exposed skin.

He quickly patted down the flames to extinguish them before they could cause serious damage, but the attack had still found its mark.

‘He’s still standing after taking two of my strongest attacks almost directly… Evolvers really are on a completely different level,’ Moon thought with growing dread as he stared at his opponent.

Although the man had survived both the Lightning Raiju and the point-blank fireball, he was clearly injured. His black clothing was singed and burnt in multiple places, revealing patches of reddened skin beneath. The Evolver’s light armor showed visible cracks from both attacks, and his breathing had become noticeably heavier. The man’s expression was no longer that of mockery or amusement. The expression on the Evolver’s face was one of pure, undiluted hatred.

He glared at Moon with murderous intent so intense it could have killed nulls through sheer malevolence alone.

“You little bastard! You’ve really pissed me off now! I was going to make this quick, but after those cheap tricks, I’m going to make sure you die the most horrible, painful death imaginable!”

His voice began to rise in pitch and volume as he continued his threats.

“I will make sure to savor every second of your despair, and relish every grunt of pain. I’m going to thoroughly enjoy watching the light drain from your eyes! Then, I will use your head to claim my reward.”

His spear materialized back in his grip as his aura began rising to truly dangerous levels, preparing to end Moon’s existence in the most brutal manner possible.

“It’s rather unfortunate that we’re in such a secluded area,” the Evolver smirked, gesturing at the empty construction site surrounding them. “Otherwise, it would have been quite entertaining to execute you in front of the masses, wouldn’t it? We would have made headlines on the news, me…and you.”

Despite the countless death threats, Moon’s expression remained perfectly calm. In his mind, he couldn’t let threats or words get to him, otherwise, his life could very well end at any instant. The threat of the Evovler was too strong to simply ignore.

“You must be a really weak Evolver,” Moon said, smirking as he examined the man’s damaged condition. “I mean, to be reduced to this pathetic state by an awakener… you really are disappointingly weak, aren’t you? I imagine that you are probably the weakest Evolver in existence, maybe in history.”

The Evolver’s eyes widened in disbelief at the audacity of the statement.

“Have you completely lost your mind?!” He roared, his aura surging even higher as rage consumed his rational thought. It had taken him many sacrifices to get to his strength, and the kid in front of him was belittling it all.

The Evolver began advancing toward Moon, who stood approximately thirty meters away. “I will tear you to shreds piece by piece! And once I’m finished with you, I’ll make sure to pay every person you love a very special visit too.”

Moon’s eyes flashed with anger at the threat, but he seemed to immediately suppress the emotion.

Suddenly, the Evolver charged with explosive speed, “You are dead meat!”

The man crossed twenty meters in less than a second, moving in a speed that befit his rank.

But before he could land his thrust—

BOOM!

His foot triggered the explosive rune Moon had placed on the ground during their earlier exchange. The inscription detonated with enough force to seriously injure S-rank beasts, sending shockwaves through the construction site.

The Evolver immediately stumbled from the unexpected blast, his balance disrupted by the explosion beneath his feet. Before he could regain proper footing, Moon’s lightning-coated sword was already approaching him.

At such close range, it would have been foolish not to combine two of his most powerful skills into a single overwhelming attack. Although he would have loved to use [Ignite] or [Lightning Raiju], the two spells took longer time than the window he had available to attack.

[Bird Dance] enhanced by lightning energy represented the fusion of his magical and physical powers—both individually terrifying in their own right.

The Evolver couldn’t help but feel a moment of relief despite the pain radiating from his legs. He couldn’t believe a mage was actually engaging him in direct swordplay—it was so completely out of character from the ranged fighter he’d been pursuing that it felt almost surreal.

Despite underestimating the incoming attack, the Evolver didn’t dare to lower his guard down due to his gut feeling.

True to his gut, the threat was very real as Moon’s blade closed the distance and carved a deep, bleeding gash across his chest.

The Evolver’s eyes dilated from the intense pain, but he had achieved his objective. “I got you! Die!” He thrust his spear forward with all his enhanced strength. Moon was only a meter away, he could not possibly escape.
