Chapter 1328: Chapter 1304: Dying with Eyes Open

Wang Zhanting watched Xiao Lin behind him in terror, as if he had appeared between him and Shao Weihua like a ghost. Suddenly, he opened his mouth wide in surprise. "It’s, it’s you!"

These seemingly nonsensical words probably only made sense to him, but Xiao Lin understood. He gently touched Wang Zhanting’s neck with one hand; the warmth of his fingers was not cold, yet it sent a chill through him.

At this moment, Shao Weihua also noticed Xiao Lin and unhesitatingly fired a bullet at him. Wang Zhanting screamed, but it was too late.

With just one hand, Xiao Lin exerted force, using Wang Zhanting’s neck as a pivot to leap into the air. The speed of his movement far outpaced that of the bullet. Just a "thud" was heard, the sound of the bullet piercing flesh.

Shao Weihua was also dumbstruck. The bullet was supposed to hit Xiao Lin’s back, but now it directly penetrated Wang Zhanting’s abdomen, blood seeping from the bullet hole.

Wang Zhanting clutched his abdomen with one hand, the piercing pain leaving him speechless, unsure whether it had damaged his vital organs, as he curled up on the ground.

By now, Shao Weihua was in a state of extreme fear and panic, the gun in his hand dropped to the ground. Xiao Lin didn’t even glance at Wang Zhanting, turned around to pick up the gun off the ground, removed the bullets, and disassembled the gun in front of Shao Weihua before discarding it.

"Don’t kill me!" Shao Weihua blurted out, feeling the Grim Reaper closing in, unable to escape.

Xiao Lin chuckled at Shao Weihua, a sharp spike appearing in his right hand. "Only one of you two can survive."

Xiao Lin’s meaning was clear: either Wang Zhanting or Shao Weihua had to die.

"Young Master Xiao, what you’re doing is meaningless." Wang Zhanting endured the pain, attempting to persuade Xiao Lin to let them go, but just then, Shao Weihua suddenly pointed at him and shouted.

"I can’t die!"

Xiao Lin watched Wang Zhanting with amusement. "Did you hear that? He said he can’t die, so you must be the one to die."

People are selfish, especially when standing on the brink of death. Who would willingly sacrifice themselves for someone else? Certainly, no one.

"Uncle Wang, you heard clearly just now, right? Since Mr. Shao has already made his decision, I’m afraid it has to be you." As he spoke, Xiao Lin raised his right hand, and the spike plunged straight towards Wang Zhanting.

Injured, Wang Zhanting mustered his strength to leap up from the ground, evading Xiao Lin’s attack. He didn’t flee backward but rather ran towards Shao Weihua.

Xiao Lin smiled subtly, nodded at a distant figure, who then vanished. Instead of escaping, Wang Zhanting threw a full-force punch at Shao Weihua. Xiao Lin watched from the side, seeing the two grapple together without intervening or leaving, lighting a cigarette and quietly smoking.

Shao Weihua didn’t expect Wang Zhanting to turn on him. Unable to dodge, he was hit hard by Wang Zhanting’s punch, immediately lying down and howling in pain.

"Mr. Shao, I’ve done everything I can for you, yet you still want my life. It’s truly disappointing," Wang Zhanting said through gritted teeth, his fists showing no signs of stopping, striking Shao Weihua consecutively.

"Since you’ve done your best for me, naturally, you should die for me at a crucial moment." After taking a few punches, Shao Weihua lashed out with a kick on Wang Zhanting’s wound, sending him flying, then flipped over on top.

Xiao Lin coldly watched the two middle-aged men roll and bite each other on the ground like stray dogs; it couldn’t look any more pathetic.

Shao Weihua was a ruthless person. He targeted Wang Zhanting’s wound relentlessly, preventing him from gaining the upper hand.

Howls rose in the distance, and Xiao Lin frowned; this was a signal from Hua Qingyi, suggesting Shao Qinyi had found the location, leaving him no time to wait.

He picked up two pebbles, aiming one at Shao Weihua’s elbow, the other at his knee.

Shao Weihua, about to deliver a final, fatal blow to Wang Zhanting, suddenly felt a numbness in his arms and legs, rendering them limp, causing him to collapse in front of Wang Zhanting.

Seeing Shao Weihua suddenly fall, Wang Zhanting was momentarily stunned, having thought there was absolutely no escape this time. Yet, fate seemed unwilling to let him die, granting him such a chance.

Glancing to his right, Wang Zhanting spotted the disassembled parts of a gun next to him. Without thinking, he grabbed one and lunged at Shao Weihua, deeply striking it into his back.

Shao Weihua instantly cried out, blood spurting from the area hit by the hard object. Hurt, he tried to fight back against the person behind him, but Wang Zhanting, straddling atop him, held him steadily, leaving him no room to move.

"Shao Weihua, I didn’t originally want to kill you. You still had value to me. But blame yourself for being such a terrible person, betraying Wang Zhantian for your selfish desires and cruelly killing him," Wang Zhanting, appearing mad with rage, repeatedly stabbed Shao Weihua with the half-dismantled gun casing.

Two more howls were heard, and Xiao Lin glanced at the now nearly-dead Shao Weihua, disappearing into the darkness, heading toward the direction of the howling.

Before long, hurried footsteps echoed from the end of the alley. "Shao Junwei, where are you?" someone shouted from behind, and Wang Zhanting turned in surprise, squinting against several beams of harsh light that blinded him. Shao Weihua, seemingly hearing someone call Shao Qinyi’s name, weakly raised his head to call for help, only to be punched to the ground by Wang Zhanting.

With no way out, Wang Zhanting chuckled darkly at Shao Weihua, delivering one final blow as the dismantled gun casing was thrust directly into Shao Weihua’s throat.

Shao Qinyi had just rushed into the alley to see a shadow forcefully driving a weapon into Shao Weihua’s throat. He let out a roar, raising his gun and spraying bullets at the shadow.

Burning across his shoulder, Wang Zhanting didn’t stop to check if Shao Weihua was still alive. He charged forward with all his might, rolled across the ground, climbed a pile of debris, and jumped over the wall.

Shao Qinyi ordered his men to pursue, squatting down to check Shao Weihua’s injuries. The sharp instrument had pierced his throat but hadn’t caused a fatal injury.

Shao Weihua opened his eyes, looking at Shao Qinyi, his mouth opening silently as though trying to speak, yet only managing hisses from his throat.

Shao Qinyi gazed at Shao Weihua with an unreadable expression on his face, nobody knew what he was thinking. Shao Weihua grabbed his arm, fingers digging in with a tightness suggesting they wished to pierce deep into his flesh.

Shao Qinyi placed one hand on the sharp instrument, finally showing a hint of a smile on his expressionless face. Instead of withdrawing the weapon, he pressed it deeper. (To be continued.
