Chapter 1327: Chapter 1303: 11:00 PM

The legendary treasure has resurfaced across various channels after a period of silence. This time, the accuracy of the information far surpasses the initial reports, confirming both the treasure holder’s identity and a blurry silhouette.

Shao Qinyi roams through streets and alleys, gathering tales about the treasure. He spends a considerable sum acquiring the source of the information, which turns out to be nothing more than a fragment of paper smaller than an A4 sheet. Glancing at it briefly, he burns it to ashes with his fingertips.

Simultaneously, Shao Weihua also holds the identical piece of paper, silently watching Wang Zhanting. The news about him having the treasure spread too quickly, leaving him no time to prepare. "Zhanting, what should we do now? Could it be Nicholas stirring things up?"

"Actually, I think it’s not so bad; it saves us the effort of seeking these people out." Wang Zhanting, abandoning his usual cautious approach, lights a cigarette for Shao Weihua, obscuring his face in the smoke.

"Mr. Shao, your brother visited me not long ago."

"What?" Shao Weihua exclaims in surprise. "What did he want?"

"He hopes you won’t cause trouble." Wang Zhanting deliberately keeps his words brief, sowing discontent in Shao Weihua’s heart. "Your brother knows you have the treasure and fears you’ll create a mess, so he asked me to advise you against reckless actions that might cost you your life."

"Hehe!" Shao Weihua falls silent before abruptly laughing in an odd manner. "I think he fears for his own life. Has he threatened you as well?"

"Yes! He said if you continue acting recklessly, I will die before you, Mr. Shao, which contradicts our initial agreement." Wang Zhanting’s voice trembles. "You promised me that you would restore the Wang Family’s prominence in Yanjing, but now I find myself inciting you to your death, a burden I dare not bear."

"So, you’re now asking me to give up?" Shao Weihua’s heart stirs upon hearing this. Without Wang Zhanting’s financial backing, his continuation seems difficult. "Zhanting, don’t listen to Shao Qinyi. He’s just a coward who overcomplicates everything. We possess these two items; why should we fear those people?"

"I naturally trust you, Mr. Shao. If we succeed this time, the Wang Family will rise again, so I’m willing to follow you, Mr. Shao. Tell me what to do, and I’ll do it."

"Good, very good!" Shao Weihua laughs heartily upon hearing this.

At eleven at midnight, just as people begin to rest after a day’s labor, two voices creep along the street, their behavior furtive, always glancing backward as if pursued.

"Zhanting, how much longer? Why can’t we drive?" Shao Weihua follows behind Wang Zhanting, slightly out of breath.

"Shao Qinyi is cunning; I’m afraid he’s tailing us." Wang Zhanting says as he turns into an alley. "We’ll arrive shortly; we’ll enter through the back door."

Before long, the two vanish from sight beneath two pairs of eyes in the darkness.

"Lin, the fish has entered." A deep voice sounds in the dark, with no response from the other party, who shuts the communicator on his own. "Go!"

As soon as those words are uttered, two figures dart simultaneously in different directions.

Shao Weihua follows Wang Zhanting for over ten minutes before reaching the destination. To his surprise, there aren’t as many people as he’d imagined, merely five or six burly, fierce-looking foreign men, slumping around a table.

"What’s going on?" Shao Weihua yells. These individuals appear unmistakably deceased. Is Wang Zhanting attempting to bond him with a bunch of corpses?

Wang Zhanting also seems astonished by the sight before him. He shakes his head, unable to explain. "These people are gangster bosses I’ve contacted in recent days, all willing to cooperate with us. How could it be like this?" As he speaks, Wang Zhanting approaches one of them, rubbing the man’s body with his fingers, finding it still warm, the blood from the wounds yet to fully coagulate.

"They died not long ago; we must leave quickly." Before he can finish, it’s already too late to escape.

Just as Wang Zhanting tries to exit from the entrance, a crowd rushes in from outside, brandishing all manner of weapons. They loudly shout accusations as they enter, seemingly claiming Shao Weihua and Wang Zhanting killed their leaders. Only now do they realize they’ve walked into a trap, and attempts to explain fall flat as the attackers leave no room for them but to face the assault.

Wang Zhanting kicks a person out of his way, snatches a machete from the adversary, and swings towards another, while Shao Weihua stands frozen in fear.

"Mr. Shao, why are you standing there? Run, it’ll be too late!" Wang Zhanting shouts, battling fiercely in the crowd and urging the dazed Shao Weihua.

Outnumbered, there’s no way Wang Zhanting can escape alone, though he slashes through many with brute force, sustaining numerous wounds himself.

Shao Weihua finds some action in response to Wang Zhanting’s shouts, dodging a gunman and unleashing a torrent of bullets on those rushing in at him, his military background helping him somewhat. Yet the attackers seem inexhaustible, pressing in wave after relentless wave.

"What on earth is happening?" Shao Weihua squeezed next to Wang Zhanting.

"These people are the subordinates of several bosses inside. They believe we killed them, so they want to kill us as revenge. For now, we should just break out first."

As soon as the words were spoken, there was a shift in the situation. Half of the people who were charging at them suddenly turned back, as if there was a ghost behind them, and they all turned around.

Wang Zhanting didn’t want to think too much and signaled with his chin for Shao Weihua to follow him. Although he wasn’t sure what exactly was happening, this was a good opportunity. If they didn’t escape now, they would really be dead here.

However, things were not as good as Wang Zhanting thought. The agreed location had only one path in and out, just as they came in, they would go out the same way. It was a bar; the front was blocked tonight for the meeting to ensure safety, and the back was surrounded by those subordinates. To get out, they would have to kill them all.

"What do we do now? What on earth is happening outside?" Shao Weihua asked.

"Seems like someone has fought their way in." Wang Zhanting guessed, and sure enough, two masked individuals quickly broke in from the outside, creating a bloody path for the two of them to escape.

"Not leaving yet?" The man who entered first shouted at Wang Zhanting while his hand wielded a knife to take out two more people.

"Who are you?" Although Wang Zhanting wanted to just break out and escape, he cautiously watched the two individuals before him.

"It’s Shao Qin who sent us to rescue you."

"It’s Shao Qinyi!" Shao Weihua shouted in a trembling voice, and Wang Zhanting pulled Shao Weihua, running towards the direction they had entered.

After dealing with the people inside the room, the masked individuals pulled down their masks and took out a walkie-talkie from their chest. "We’re okay here, the rest is up to you and Young Master Hua." The one speaking was Yelü Shou, while the other also pulled down his mask, revealing a head of red hair.

Yelü Shou glanced at Lao Jiu; no matter how he looked at his red hair, it seemed strange. "I think it’s better when your hair was like it was back in Yanjing, more pleasing to the eye. Now it’s too eye-catching, one doesn’t even need to see your face, just this color gives away who you are."

"Stop bothering me, you corpse-like living being."

Whenever the two met, they would verbally spar to no end, but never really fight; Xiao Lin always liked pairing them together, claiming it’s for the entertainment.

Wang Zhanting and Shao Weihua ran out the back of the bar, thinking they had escaped, but unexpectedly, a person stood at the dark alleyway entrance.

The figure in the darkness stood still in the middle of the alley. Wang Zhanting halted his running, causing Shao Weihua behind him to crash right into him. "Wang Zhanting, what are you up to?"

"There’s someone ahead." This person was completely different from those earlier, with an air of menace. "Who are you?" Wang Zhanting shouted at the person, but the figure didn’t respond.

At this moment, Shao Weihua also saw the figure standing in the distance, and without hesitation fired two bullets towards them. The sound of bullets echoed clearly in the dark alley, taking the initiative was always right.

After the smoke from the bullets cleared, the figure still stood there like a ghost, unmoving. Now not only was Shao Weihua panicking, but Wang Zhanting also felt terrified.

Shao Weihua is skilled with a gun and with those two bullets fired, the target should be dead or severely injured; however, this person seemed unfazed, filled them with a sense of dread.

"Who on earth are you, and what do you want?" Wang Zhanting stepped forward, attempting to see the person’s face clearly.

At this moment, the timid Shao Weihua fired again towards the shadow, but before the bullet could leave the barrel, a sharp pain ran through his wrist. In terror, Shao Weihua cried out as Wang Zhanting felt a gust of wind beside him, making his hair stand on end.

Intuition told him he wasn’t the only one here, there were others. "Mr. Shao, are you alright?"

"There’s someone, someone else." This was Shao Weihua’s most genuine feeling, clutching one wrist as blood spurted from the wound.

Wang Zhanting smelt the scent of blood, couldn’t help but turn around to look back. With that turn, he felt as if his heart burst; there was another person standing behind him.

"Xiao Lin!" Wang Zhanting wanted to shout, but the voice wouldn’t come from his throat, because when he turned, his neck was tightly grabbed from behind, icy fingers felt like an invisible knife stabbing fear into his heart.
