Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station
Chapter 1356: Climate Transformation (Part 2)
All Chen Ming needed to do was record detailed data within the Star System and then hand it over to the Empire’s department known as the Planetary Ecology Department.
In addition, he would prepare some funds to support this department in its climate transformation efforts.
The rest would just be a matter of waiting.
After all, the process wasn’t important; someone would help Chen Ming prepare everything.
If anything, some people might later ask Chen Ming to help transport them to the now frozen Gaia Planet for the actual climate transformation process.
That would be a minor issue easily resolved later on.
As Chen Ming thought of it, he acted.
He recorded and saved all the data acquired from several exploration ships and stellar exploration devices.
All necessary climate condition analysis data was recorded according to the requirements on the Department’s official website and sent directly.
The Department has a subordinate Climate Transformation Department that has always been quite idle; handling external climate transformation tasks is considered normal.
Given that habitable planets are not lacking within the Empire, the market demand for climate transformation technology itself is not large.
Real needs for climate transformation exist only for planets within Star Systems with development value, where climate conditions aren’t suitable for human habitation but landing needs still exist.
There aren’t many such planets in quantity, with virtually no tasks to undertake.
Whether it’s a task assigned by the Empire or a large company with new colonies, or wealthy individuals, at most one or two would seek the Climate Transformation Department in a year.
Thus, the department is essentially kept afloat by a yearly fund from the Empire, solely focusing on researching climate transformation technology, with little else on their plate.
Apparently, Chen Ming heard that they seemed to have gotten so bored they started researching automated climate transformation technology.
Using specially modified devices or organisms to autonomously adapt to the ecological environment and improve planetary climate upon deployment.
Reportedly, their goal is to transform all Empire’s planets capable of climate transformation into habitable planets at extremely low costs.
They even named this project the Seed of Life Program.
Currently, it’s still in its infancy, and sounds extremely unreliable.
Yet, Chen Ming still decided to place trust in the department.
Of course, Chen Ming is referring not to the Seed of Life, but to climate transformation.
Although he once heard that climate transformation was exceedingly difficult, with seemingly few successful cases across the Empire.
Upon careful study of the Empire’s technology, he found that there were fewer failure cases compared to success cases.
Or simply put, there weren’t many cases at all.
Without using his authority, Chen Ming casually checked and found a total of around two hundred environmental transformation cases.
At first glance, it seemed like a lot, but in the context of the Empire, two hundred cases are really not much.
Among them, over one hundred seventy were successful, three failed, and the remaining twenty to thirty cases were all halted, not pursued further.
A project with such a close to ninety percent success rate is not much to fret over.
Moreover, he had no other options.
There’s only the official department in the Empire dealing with environmental transformation, whom else could he turn to?
The Department’s response was prompt.
Upon confirming the planetary data and requirements sent by Chen Ming, they immediately called him.
As soon as Chen Ming answered, the voice on the other end directly said, “Mr. Chen Ming, we have received your requirements, and there are several points we need to confirm with you.”
“The star radiation intensity is at least one-third lower compared to similar stars’ intensity, yet no specific data explains the reason. Do you have any additional information to provide here?”
It seemed like the person on the other end was probably a researcher of some sort.
Chen Ming replied, “The Star System was already like that when I arrived there, I can only provide the consolidated data based on the planet’s situation, beyond that I am uncertain.”
Chen Ming indeed didn’t know the cause of abrupt environmental changes within the Star System.
He could only roughly infer from the planet’s snow conditions and underground ecology that the construction time of this underground ecological system was around three years ago, while the weakening of stellar illumination was about five years ago.
He knew nothing else.
The only suspicion-worthy aspect was the suddenly discovered flare.
However, he sent the records of the observed flare over.
Given that the Climate Transformation Department hadn’t mentioned it, it likely wasn’t a significant situation.
While the star’s intensity was quite weak, it didn’t mean flares were utterly impossible; perhaps it was merely a coincidental phenomenon.
“Understood, next point, the planet slated for climate transformation already has a stable underground ecological system, climate transformation may lead to its collapse or induce unpredictable consequences, which are very likely to be negative, this we must inform you.”
“At the time, we will also conduct an on-site inspection to determine the condition of the underground ecosystem and ascertain whether the planet is fit for climate transformation.”
Chen Ming seemed to detect a hint of professional arrogance from the phone call.
Apparently, they weren’t very trusting of the results of Chen Ming’s investigation.
Chen Ming also understood.
After all, even he found it hard to believe upon discovering through his investigation that the underground ecological system had existed for only a few years, while the entire planet’s ecological metamorphosis occurred within just a few years.
