Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station
Chapter 1342: Survivor_4
“What exactly is the situation?”
“Our ancestors once organized a small fleet to enter the wormhole, trying to escape from something.”
“But after passing through the wormhole, they were attacked by the monster inside the black hole. Some ships sacrificed themselves to distract the monster, giving others time to escape the black hole.”
“We originally thought that all the people and ships had fallen into the black hole, but surprisingly, there’s still a communication device that exists.”
An old-fashioned story.
Chen Ming silently commented in his heart.
But logically speaking, what these survivors say seems to make sense.
The survivors are probably a group of people trying to escape when the Shimmering Civilization was nearing collapse; they might not necessarily have had great weaponry.
Although in Chen Ming’s perspective those pieces of equipment looked quite good, that’s only in terms of technology, not capability. In reality, using those to fight the black hole monster is just a futile effort.
They were probably just a small group of people.
“Do you know how much time has passed since then?”
“Forty-five thousand three hundred and seventy-two years.”
The Spiritual Ability Minister quickly converted the unit and said, “About over fifty thousand Earth years ago.”
Chen Ming nodded, ending the one-sided identity verification conversation, and began a regular exchange: “So… who do you think I am?”
“A member of a newly born civilization.”
“We sensed you trying to track us through spiritual energy, so we hid in a more concealed place. Please don’t attempt to track us.”
It seems the survivors of the Shimmering Civilization are aware that the civilization has completely perished and didn’t call themselves survivors of the Shimmering Civilization.
Chen Ming asked, “So what do you guys want to do?”
“You should be able to see that I just randomly pressed the device when I found it, not knowing if you actually existed.”
“But you contacted me proactively, so you must have a purpose.”
The communication device was silent for a moment then responded: “Yes, we want to make a trade with you, with your civilization behind you.”
“We hope you can preserve everything about the Shimmering Civilization, so its past won’t vanish with our extinction.”
“We no longer believe we can revive a civilization, we just hope our civilization is recorded.”
It sounds like there’s no problem with that.
The last group of people from a once-thriving civilization, facing a newly born civilization, hopes to ensure their civilization isn’t forgotten.
But Chen Ming maintained his vigilance and said, “Then you can directly give me all the data, and I’ll pass it to my civilization.”
“Sorry, we still can’t fully trust you, we must respect our civilization’s legacy, we can’t casually hand over everything from our civilization.”
Chen Ming responded firmly, “Then we have nothing to talk about.”
Upon hearing this, the Spiritual Ability Minister became a bit anxious, considering this a great opportunity to connect with the Shimmering Civilization.
But Chen Ming raised his hand to stop him, indicating that he knew what he was doing.
He’s dealing with an unknown entity, necessarily requiring some probing.
Adopting a firm attitude was the simplest and most effective choice to test the situation on the other side.
This was also Chen Ming’s own thinking.
He’s always been gentle to his own kind, but his attitude is entirely different towards non-kin.
Although both the Empire and he have continuously picked scraps from the remains of the Shimmering Civilization,
no matter how it’s said, the Shimmering Civilization isn’t a human civilization.
Therefore, Chen Ming definitely couldn’t empathize with the Shimmering Civilization.
Moreover, he actually worries about one thing.
Would it be possible for the Shimmering Civilization to master some extreme means to take over human civilization somehow?
Given the technology of the Shimmering Civilization, he thinks it’s possible.
So he would never drop his guard.
After Chen Ming’s firm response, the survivors of the Shimmering Civilization quickly sent another message: “Perhaps we can attempt to earn each other’s trust.”
“May I ask, have you killed the monster in the black hole?”
“No.”
This question, Chen Ming felt, required no deceit; after all, if these survivors were indeed descendants of the Shimmering Civilization, they would at least have the means to scout the black hole.
“Then, as a gesture to earn your trust, we are willing to tell you the weakness of the monster we call the ‘Plane Nightmare.'”
