Chen Ming was still in the spaceship’s cockpit when he discovered a portable device that seemed interesting, having been preserved until now.

Chen Ming used spiritual energy to bring the device to his hand, obtaining its name.

[Resonant Channel Communicator]

Based on the operational principles Chen Ming mastered with spiritual energy, it uses a similar resonance frequency band method akin to the main ship’s cooperative shield for communication.

However, the specific effects would only be known after testing.

The head of the Spiritual Ability Department, sensitive to every change around him, had already noticed the unknown model spaceship Chen Ming returned with using spiritual energy.

Now he also noticed the mysterious device Chen Ming suddenly held in his hands.

“What is this?”

Chen Ming didn’t bother to hide anything and honestly said, “It seems to be some kind of communicator.”

It appeared to still be operational, with its battery life in full force, though pressing the buttons twice yielded no response.

Considering the purpose of the spaceship, Chen Ming wasn’t sure if the reason he couldn’t communicate might be because the person or entity meant to connect with this device no longer existed.

Yet just as he thought the device was useless, he suddenly noticed a resonant signal being emitted outward.

Surprised, Chen Ming attempted to trace the signal’s origin, but the signal disappeared immediately.

He couldn’t detect it.

In the next moment, a message in the Shimmering Civilization’s language appeared on the communicator’s screen.

“Who are you?”

Chen Ming did not reply and instead pondered.

He thought about how the communicator managed to transmit this message without him noticing how it got into the device.

Could this resonant communication device really be this bizarre?

Moreover, he wasn’t clear whether the communication was coming from a person, possibly a ghost, or some AI program.

He wondered if those behind this communicator might be either descendants from the Shimmering Civilization or survivors from back then.

A hasty response was not a good choice.

Yet he seemed to have no better options.

This was his only clue.

The department head, who also saw the text on the screen, had his heart race suddenly: “Are there still people alive from the Shimmering Civilization? This is a significant discovery.”

Although he wasn’t primarily focused on projects related to the Shimmering Civilization, spiritual ability technology itself couldn’t be separated from such a direction.

So he was certainly knowledgeable about some basic information, clearly recognizing the special significance of discovering possible descendants of the Shimmering Civilization.

However, Chen Ming was not as optimistic and stated, “We can’t be sure if they are people from the Shimmering Civilization.”

“That spaceship has existed for tens of thousands of years; could their descendants really remember it after thirty thousand years?”

Continuing, Chen Ming explained how his spiritual energy attempted to track the emitted signal but was cut off, yet the communication signal was still transferred over, bypassing his spiritual energy.

“That’s why I am really suspicious about their actual situation.”

Before the department head could respond, a new line of text appeared on the communicator: “Have you already discovered the creature in the black hole?”

Chen Ming furrowed his brows slightly, still contemplating his next move.

The department head really wanted to say something, but considering it was Chen Ming who personally obtained this device, exposing everything important before him, he refrained from speaking directly.

“We are survivors; we wish to communicate with you, and we mean no harm.”

Upon this statement, Chen Ming reached the end of his considerations.

He monitored the device comprehensively and responded, “What is a survivor?”

The communication channel fell silent for a moment, then produced another message.

“We are the descendants of the Shimmering survivors, who took refuge in the world behind the wormhole, and we are committed to preserving everything from the Shimmering Civilization.”

Chen Ming exchanged a glance with the seemingly excited department head beside him and continued asking, “‘What exactly happened with ‘Shimmering’?”

“We cannot answer that question.”

The other end of the communication chose to remain silent.

“Why?”

“Because we are missing that part of history.”

Missing…

Chen Ming suddenly recalled when he searched for records in the personality core database in the core colony of the Mechanical Race Star Realm.

Similarly, the records about the demise of the Shimmering Civilization were lost.

Was it truly missing?

Holding onto doubts, Chen Ming moved past this potentially conversation-ending topic and asked, “Why are you hiding yourselves?”

The survivors responded, “Because we are too weak, hiding is our only survival strategy.”

“Please trust us; we do this purely out of weakness.”

Although Chen Ming was skeptical, he didn’t express it, rather asked, “Then why did you contact me, and how did you do it?”

“In fact, you were the one who contacted us.”

Indeed, that’s how it was.

Chen Ming had pressed a random button on the communicator, unexpectedly triggering a real connection.

The survivors continued, “Additionally, our database contains comprehensive records about Shimmering, including a specialized record about this communicator you discovered, because it’s the reason why we survived.”
