Chapter 151: Chapter 151: Captain Mo Xuan

The channel for Mecha 9 fell silent. After what felt like an eternity, Gu Kaiwen’s voice broke through.

"I’m speechless."

The others quickly agreed. "Yeah, definitely speechless."

"If we hadn’t come to rescue you today, you’d be dead out there."

"Damn it... I’m submitting my resignation as soon as we get back. I’m done with this!"

Captain Li panicked when he heard them talking about resigning. ’These kids really don’t give a damn about their own futures,’ he thought.

"What are you all doing? After this big mission is over, you’ll be heroes. You’ll get promotions, maybe even become captains yourselves."

Captain Li was about to say more, but Shi Feng, who was beside him, warned, "It’s coming!"

Just then, a giant hand swatted toward them. Shi Feng’s eyes were wide with panic as he shouted the warning.

Captain Li, however, calmly maneuvered his Mecha, dodging the incoming hand.

"Captain Li, can you please dodge a little faster next time? That was terrifying," Shi Feng said, his heart pounding in his chest as he watched the giant hand graze past them.

’Does he have to cut it so close?’

"What the hell are you panicking for? I’m an old pro. What’s there to be afraid of?" Captain Li was completely unfazed.

"Then how’d you get swatted into the desert just now?" Shi Feng retorted.

Captain Li didn’t answer. It wasn’t that he was a bad pilot; he had just spaced out.

Channel 9 was filled with raucous noise. They fired at the mutant beasts, cursing nonstop. Not a single one of them had a clean thought in their head.

Lin Jingjing’s Mecha, on the other hand, was special. It was equipped with a massive sniper rifle.

This suited Lin Jingjing perfectly. She flew swiftly through the air, her eyes focused, searching for the mutant beast’s weakness.

But Lin Jingjing couldn’t find anything obvious. She suddenly remembered that Mo Xuan’s eyes could see great distances with perfect clarity.

"Mo Xuan, take a close look at these mutant beasts! See if you can find their weak points," Lin Jingjing shouted.

Hearing his name, Mo Xuan acknowledged and immediately piloted his Mecha forward, concentrating on the search.

He scanned the creature but found nothing. Finally, his gaze settled on the mutant beast’s head, which was covered by a sack.

It only revealed a pair of pitch-black eye sockets, with no eyeballs inside. It would turn its head, and only after spotting someone would it raise its hand to strike, though the delay was minuscule.

But Mo Xuan had noticed it.

"Sister Lin, the head!" Mo Xuan yelled over Channel 9. "Try attacking their heads!"

With her answer, Lin Jingjing didn’t hesitate. She shouldered the massive sniper rifle on her Mecha and aimed at the head of a large mutant beast in the distance. Once locked on, Lin Jingjing pressed the button, and a fully charged energy bolt shot toward the creature’s head.

The shot was dead-on. The mutant beast’s sack-covered head was pierced straight through, and its internal structure suddenly burst out.

Everyone nearby was stunned when they saw what was inside. The "monster" operating the large mutant beast was the Army Commander of the First Corps, who had vanished nine years ago!

"It’s Mo Group Leader!" some of the older veterans shouted, recognizing him.

This Mo Group Leader’s skin had turned a deathly, bruised white. His eyes were milky, and he let out a guttural "AAAAAHHH" sound.

Half of his body was crammed inside this massive creature. Someone had done something to make the seemingly dead Mo Group Leader pilot this large body forward.

Not only that, but he could also consciously attack others.

Captain Li froze too. It was Mo Xuan!

When he first joined the First Corps, he had been a real thorn in the side. The First Corps wasn’t under Beisang’s command yet; she was just the captain of the first squad.

At the time, Captain Li, banking on his former status as a captain in the Personal Guard Team, was insubordinate. Mo Xuan knew he was proud and didn’t say much, simply challenging him to a fight.

He lost that fight badly, but it also made him realize that his own strength was lacking.

After that, he followed Mo Xuan into countless battles, big and small. In just one year, the two of them had forged a deep bond.

Later, during the great battle before the New Year, the mutant beasts that were supposed to be in hibernation suddenly went on a rampage. Mo Xuan led a team to suppress them.

It was in that same war that Mo Xuan disappeared. Many said he was dead, eaten, but Captain Li refused to believe it.

After years of investigating with no results, he too had given up. Now, seeing Mo Xuan again, he was utterly thunderstruck.

Captain Li muttered to himself, "How could this happen?"

"How did he get captured and experimented on?"

He remembered that brilliant, high-spirited man telling him about his dream. He wanted everyone on B6 Star to live the rest of their lives in peace. He wanted to drive the mutant beasts off B6 Star for good.

But now... he had become this.

Beisang was in shock too. She was so stunned she forgot to pilot her Mecha. ’It’s the Commander!’

At that moment, exposed to the light, Mo Yuan suddenly went berserk. His spiritual power was immense to begin with. He roared, and a powerful pressure wave blasted toward the crowd.

His once-milky eyeballs slowly turned scarlet. His lower body was fixed in place, unable to move. He struggled continuously, but to no avail.

"Commander, we found you!" Some of the old veterans’ eyes reddened when they saw Mo Xuan, their voices choked with emotion.

Lin Jingjing frowned as she watched the reactions of those around her. She had just heard them call that man "Commander."

’In other words, the person inside, piloting this huge body, is someone they know? And not just anyone, but their commander?!’

Lin Jingjing pinched the bridge of her nose. ’Things just got a lot more complicated.’

Mo Xuan didn’t care about any of that. He saw an opportunity and quickly said to Lin Jingjing, "Sister Lin, take a shot at that person’s head. That should take care of this large mutant beast."

When Captain Li heard they wanted to kill Mo Group Leader, he immediately shouted, "No!"

Shi Feng, beside him, looked over, his eyes full of confusion.

’The guy has already turned into a monster,’ Shi Feng thought. ’Is there any hope of saving him?’

After a moment’s thought, Shi Feng asked, "Feng He, can that man be saved?"

"Look at his skin—it’s covered in lividity. Maybe if I go to the Hall of King of hell and alter the Book of Life and Death, he’ll have a chance of living," Feng He replied.

He was well and truly dead. There was no saving him.

Hearing this, Captain Li slumped in despair. After a minute of silence, he said, "Lin Jingjing, I’m begging you... give Mo Group Leader a clean death."

Lin Jingjing didn’t dare respond. The sniper rifle on her Mecha made it impossible to leave a whole corpse.

One shot would blow him in half.

Mo Xuan cut in. "No."

"We can’t leave the body intact."

Hearing Mo Xuan say this, the others couldn’t help but give him a mental thumbs-up.

’That took guts.’

"He’s been dead for nine years," Feng He said, trying to comfort him. "He’s been trapped in this huge body as a mindless monster for nine years. Captain Li, you should let him be free."
