Six Months Contract With The Mafia God
Chapter 327: Dante Betrayed Isabella
The extraction had proven that Dante’s security was penetrable.
The extraction had destroyed Dante’s credibility.
And without credibility, without power, without the respect of the underworld, Dante was just another hunted man.

FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER
Isabella arrived looking terrified.
Her hair was disheveled. Her clothes were wrinkled. Her eyes were wide with the understanding that something catastrophic had happened.
"What’s happening?" she asked immediately. "Luca said we’re evacuating. He said something about Dimitri. What happened?"
"They extracted her," Dante said flatly.
Isabella’s face went completely pale.
"Eve," she whispered.
"Eve," Dante confirmed.
Isabella moved to the chair and sat down heavily, her entire body sagging under the weight of understanding.
"He knows," Isabella said quietly. "Dimitri. He knows I was involved."
It wasn’t a question. It was a statement of fact.
"Certainly," Dante said.
Isabella’s hands were shaking.
"What will he do?" she asked, and her voice was so small, so terrified, that Dante almost felt pity for her.
Almost.
But he didn’t have time for pity.
"Dimitri will hold you responsible," Dante said coldly. "He will view you as complicit in kidnapping the woman he loves. And he will make sure you understand the cost of that complicity."
"He’s going to kill me," Isabella said flatly.
"Probably not," Dante said. "Killing you would be too easy. Too quick. Too merciful. Dimitri doesn’t work that way. Dimitri breaks people. He destroys them psychologically. He makes them into living examples of what happens when you cross him."
Isabella’s face was absolutely white now.
"You have to protect me," Isabella said, her voice rising in pitch. "You promised you would protect me. You said...."
"I said a lot of things," Dante interrupted. "But I can’t protect you from Dimitri Valentino. No one can. Dimitri is a force that exists outside normal parameters. He’s a predator at the top of the food chain, and you’ve made yourself his prey."
"You can’t just abandon me," Isabella said, desperation flooding her voice. "I helped you. I stood by you. I...."
"You made a choice," Dante said, his voice absolutely cold.
Isabella was crying now, her entire body shaking.
"Please," she begged. "Please, you have to do something. You have to..."
"We’re leaving," Dante said. "Right now. We’re evacuating the warehouse. And you can come with us, or you can stay here and wait for Dimitri. But either way, your fate is sealed."
He turned away from her, unable to stomach her desperation.
Because the truth was that Isabella had become a liability. Isabella had become a weakness. Isabella was the kind of emotional entanglement that could get him killed.
And Dante had spent too long building his empire to die because of a woman who’d never been worth the investment.

Dante stood watching his team load equipment into vehicles.
Four SUVs. Multiple security personnel. Weapons. Cash. Documentation. Everything needed to disappear and start over somewhere else.
Luca was directing the evacuation.
"All personnel accounted for," Luca reported. "Vehicles are prepped. Escape route is planned: north through New Jersey, then west toward the mountains. Safe houses are identified in Pennsylvania and upstate New York. We can disappear within the hour."
"And pursuit?" Dante asked.
"Will be inevitable," Luca said flatly. "Dimitri will have his people tracking us. But if we move fast, if we keep changing routes, if we stay mobile, we can stay ahead of him. At least for a while."
"And eventually?" Dante asked.
"Eventually, he’ll catch us," Luca said simply. "That’s how these things end. One man hunts. One man runs. Eventually, the hunter catches the prey. But we buy time. We buy options. We buy the chance that maybe something else happens. Maybe Dimitri overreaches. Maybe someone else moves against him. Maybe we get lucky."
Dante understood the lie in it. They wouldn’t get lucky. Dimitri didn’t lose. Dimitri didn’t fail. Dimitri was a force of nature, and going against him was like going against gravity.
But Luca was right that running bought time.
And time was all they had left.
"Load everything," Dante commanded. "We move in five minutes."
Isabella emerged from the warehouse, a small bag in her hand, looking like a ghost of the woman she’d been.
She’d realized the truth: Dante wasn’t her protection. Dante couldn’t save her. And she was walking toward Dimitri’s eventual wrath with no one to stand between them.
"We’re ready," Luca said. "Vehicles are prepped. Escape route is clear. We can be on the road in two minutes."
Dante nodded.
This was the end of an era.
He was moving toward the loading area where the vehicles were packed when the warehouse doors exploded.
Not figuratively.
Actually exploded, the massive steel doors blowing inward , the kind of explosive breach that only professional operators could execute.
Dante’s entire security team immediately took defensive positions, weapons raised, understanding that they were under attack.
Through the smoke and dust of the explosion, a figure emerged.
Dimitri Valentino.
He was moving with the kind of absolute confidence that came from a man who understood he was about to end something.
Behind him, Marco emerged, weapons ready, eyes scanning for threats.
And behind them, additional tactical personnel were filtering in, securing the warehouse perimeter, cutting off all escape routes.
"Going somewhere?" Dimitri’s voice cut through the chaos like a blade. "Because in our world, when a man takes another man’s woman, there’s a price. And you haven’t paid it yet."
Time seemed to stop.
The warehouse was locked down.
The escape route was cut off.
Dante’s security team was facing armed opposition that was clearly superior in training, positioning, and firepower.
And standing at the center of it all was Dimitri Valentino, looking absolutely calm, absolutely assured, absolutely certain that this moment had been inevitable from the beginning.
Luca’s hand moved toward his weapon, a last desperate gesture of resistance.
"Don’t," Dimitri said quietly. "I didn’t come here to kill you all. I came here for Dante. The rest of you can lower your weapons and walk out of here alive. But if you try to fight, everyone in this warehouse dies."
The threat was absolute.
The power dynamic had shifted completely.
Dante understood with crystal clarity that he was looking at the end of his life as it had been.
