Six Months Contract With The Mafia God
Chapter 325: We Have A Breach!
"Codes are transmitted to your device," Henry said from the operations center. "You have approximately twenty seconds from override activation to clear the door before the alarm triggers."
"Understood," Giancarlo said.
Henry moved to the basement door lock, entering the override codes.
The lock system beeped softly.
Red light turned to green.
The door unlocked.
Giancarlo pulled it open.
The basement corridor stretched ahead....concrete walls, industrial lighting, exactly as the thermal imaging had suggested. But the reality was darker, colder, more confining than any schematic could convey.
"Door open," Giancarlo said into his radio. "Moving into basement level two. Timer is active."
They moved down the corridor fast, but controlled. Not running, running created noise and reduced awareness. But moving with the kind of purposeful speed that suggested urgency without panic.
The basement was exactly as mapped. Three doors on the left, two on the right, Eve’s location identified as the third door on the left.
Giancarlo counted doorways as they moved.
First door on the left...passed.
Second door on the left....passed.
Third door on the left....target.
Paolo produced the key codes. The door lock activated.
The door opened.
Eve was standing in the middle of the room, and the moment she saw the tactical team, her entire body tensed.
"Eve Thorne," Giancarlo said, his voice calm and professional. "We’re here to extract you. Dimitri Valentino sent us. You’re safe now."
Relief flooded Eve’s face so intensely that she nearly collapsed.
"Oh my God," Eve breathed.
"No time," Giancarlo said, already moving toward her. "We need to move now."
He grabbed her arm....not rough, but firm, communicating that movement was non-negotiable.
They moved back toward the corridor.
Nate was already scanning the hallway for security response.
"Corridor clear," Marco said. "Moving back to extraction point."
They moved fast now, Eve between them, the team moving with the kind of tactical awareness that kept them simultaneously defensive and forward-focused.
They were twenty meters from the basement door when the alarm sounded.
Not a subtle alarm.
A blaring, undeniable klaxon that filled the entire basement level with noise.
"Alarm is active," Henry said from the operations center. "Security is responding. Guards are mobilizing from basement level one."
"We’re still on timeline," Giancarlo said, keeping his voice absolutely steady. "Moving to exit point."
They reached the basement door and pushed through.
The storage room was still clear, but they could hear footsteps above....guards moving, responding to the alarm.
"Perimeter team, sitrep," Giancarlo commanded.
"We have movement at all exits," Mike’s voice came through the radio from the defensive position outside. "Security teams mobilizing. We’re containing them. They’re not reaching the extraction point."
"Good," Giancarlo said. "We’re thirty seconds from egress."
They moved through the storage room toward the side exit they’d entered through.
Eve was moving with them, her shock giving way to focused determination. She understood what was happening and she was cooperating completely.
"Security is accessing the basement stairs," Henry reported. "Approximately thirty seconds before they reach your location."
"We’re almost to the exit," Giancarlo said.
They reached the side door.
Henry opened it...weapon raised, checking the external perimeter.
"Clear," Henry said. "Vehicle is staged fifty meters ahead. We’re running."
They emerged from the storage room into the afternoon sunlight.
The vehicle was exactly where it was supposed to be....a nondescript van, engine running, doors open.
They moved fast but controlled, getting Eve to the vehicle.
"Go," Giancarlo commanded.
The vehicle accelerated, pulling away from the warehouse, moving toward the industrial district exit.
"Extraction point cleared," Giancarlo reported. "Eve is secured. Moving to safe location."
"Roger that," Marco said from the operations center. "Security is attempting to pursue but Mike’s defensive teams are intercepting them. You have clear egress. Move to safe location."
The vehicle moved through the industrial district streets, deliberately not speeding, not drawing attention.
Eve was sitting between Giancarlo and Paolo, breathing hard, processing that she was actually being extracted.
"You’re safe now," Giancarlo said, his voice calm and professional. "Dimitri’s waiting for you. We’re taking you to him."
Eve’s eyes were bright with tears, but her expression was absolutely resolved.
"What about them?" Eve asked. "What about Dante and the others?"
"That’s Dimitri’s problem now," Giancarlo said. "Our job was getting you out. That’s done."
***
Luca was in the operations room when the alarm triggered.
The sound filled the entire basement with urgent, undeniable noise.
He was on his feet instantly, his tactical training kicking into overdrive.
"Breach," he said into his radio. "We have a breach. Where?"
"Basement door," one of his men reported, his voice tight with adrenaline. "Storage room access point. Someone just overrode the lock."
Luca’s blood went cold.
No one was supposed to breach the warehouse.
No one knew about the warehouse except the inner circle.
And no one would be stupid enough to breach it without....
"Extraction," Luca said flatly, understanding immediately. "They’re extracting the hostage."
He moved toward the basement stairs, his mind already running through response protocols, already understanding what he needed to do.
"All security personnel to basement level two," he commanded. "Now. We need to contain this breach immediately."
He descended the basement stairs fast, taking them two at a time.
The basement corridor was empty.
The reinforced door to the holding area was standing open.
Luca moved to Eve’s room and found it exactly as he’d expected....empty.
She was gone.
The extraction had been executed with precision and speed. The alarm had triggered, but by the time his team had mobilized, the target was already out of the building.
Luca stood in the empty room, and for the first time since Dante had recruited him, he understood that they’d fundamentally miscalculated something.
Because whoever had executed this extraction wasn’t just competent.
They were professionally trained.
They were organized and precised.
They were sent by Dimitri Valentino, because this was definitely the work of Dimitri.
Luca pulled out his radio from his pocked.
"Boss," he said. "We have a situation."
