Secret Marriage: The CEO's Pampered Wife
Chapter 371 - 353: Letting You Off Too Easily
Georgia Thorne suddenly pulled her hand from Sharon Ennis’s. "Mom, something’s come up. I need to head out."
"Hey, where are you going? Your hand still needs ointment!"
"It’s fine, I’m okay!" Georgia Thorne hurried upstairs, grabbed her bag, and ran outside.
The family had a driver, so Georgia Thorne got in the car and gave him the address for Sheridan Corporation. She then picked up her phone to call Elliot Sheridan.
The phone rang a few times with no answer, so she had no choice but to hang up.
’Elliot was probably busy looking for Aidan right now.’
The car had only gone a short distance when the driver suddenly slammed on the brakes, bringing it to a halt.
Georgia Thorne jolted forward, her hair tumbling into disarray. "Why did we stop?"
"There’s a car ahead of us."
The driver had just finished speaking when a burly man appeared beside the car, knocking politely on the window.
After hesitating for a few seconds, the driver lowered the window and heard the man outside say, "Mrs. Sheridan, my master wishes to see you about a certain matter."
Soon, Georgia Thorne was in the man’s car; her driver had been taken as well.
Her communication devices were confiscated. Georgia Thorne sat ramrod straight in the back seat, warily eyeing the large men surrounding her.
’She wondered who it was that wanted to see her.’
The car was silent. Her driver wasn’t in the vehicle with her.
Elliot Sheridan’s phone was still in the car; he had forgotten to grab it when he met with Dylan Heston earlier.
Dylan Heston found the last footage of Aidan Sheridan; he was at the entrance to Quentin Chase’s apartment.
A black van had pulled up, and someone had dragged Aidan Sheridan inside.
Dylan Heston was a meticulous person. He tracked the van’s escape route from the footage and found its destination: Erin Irving’s stalled construction project.
"Grab a few men and let’s go!" Elliot Sheridan’s eyes were glued to the image of Aidan Sheridan on the screen. The last expression on his brother’s face was one of terror.
Aidan Sheridan hadn’t even made it inside Quentin Chase’s apartment before he was abducted. That meant the ransacked state of the apartment and Quentin Chase’s own disappearance were most likely the work of the same people.
’And the destination is Erin Irving’s construction site. It has to be him.’
The group hurried into their vehicles. William went with them.
’Under the circumstances, he desperately wanted to ask if Quentin Chase would be all right, but he couldn’t bring himself to be fussy like a woman.’
The entire way there, William felt as if he were performing his first-ever surgery; his heart was pounding so hard he thought it would leap out of his chest.
Inside the car, everyone was silent. Elliot Sheridan suddenly remembered his phone. He took it out and saw a missed call from Georgia Thorne.
He called back, but no one answered.
A vague sense of unease crept over him, and he called home.
Sharon Ennis answered. "Georgia said she had something to take care of and went out... No, she didn’t say where. Do you need her for something?"
"It’s nothing, Mom. I won’t be home for dinner tonight!"
"Alright, I understand!"
At this critical juncture, Aidan Sheridan was missing, and now Georgia Thorne was too.
Dylan Heston noticed Elliot Sheridan’s strange expression. "Elliot, what’s wrong?"
"Georgia Thorne is missing. I’m worried."
’Georgia must have come looking for me. When she couldn’t reach me, she probably went to the office.’
"Owen Sawyer, has Georgia Thorne been to the office?"
"Mrs. Sheridan? One moment, sir, I’ll go check the lounge." Owen Sawyer hurried out. ’I didn’t hear anyone say she was here.’
A minute later, Owen Sawyer called back, slightly out of breath. "No, sir. Mrs. Sheridan isn’t here!"
’Georgia Thorne called twenty minutes ago. It’s a thirty-minute drive from home to the office, so she might still be on the road.’ "You wait at the office for Georgia. If she’s not there in half an hour, let me know immediately!"
"Yes, I understand!"
’Anything involving Georgia Thorne was a serious matter.’
’And the fact that President Sheridan couldn’t come himself meant he was dealing with something even more critical.’
Sensing the gravity in Elliot Sheridan’s tone, Owen Sawyer immediately began investigating Georgia Thorne’s whereabouts.
Twenty minutes later, Owen Sawyer called to report that she still hadn’t arrived.
He had checked the traffic cameras along the route but found no trace of the car. She was completely gone.
’Georgia Thorne has been kidnapped.’ A deep unease settled over Elliot Sheridan.
"What about her phone’s GPS tracker!"
Owen Sawyer had been so panicked that he’d forgotten something so crucial.
He immediately opened his laptop to trace Georgia Thorne’s phone signal. "There’s no signal. It seems like it’s being blocked! ...Wait. It looks like there was a signal ping on the way out of the city."
’Who knew Georgia Thorne’s phone had a tracker and took measures to block it?’
Owen Sawyer was to continue investigating Georgia Thorne’s whereabouts and report back immediately with any news.
The car fell silent. With a heavy heart, Elliot Sheridan clutched his phone.
「It was over a two-hour drive from the city center to the coast.」
When they arrived at the construction site, they discovered the area was massive. They had no idea where to even begin their search.
Suddenly, Dylan Heston’s expression grew grim. "Breakerfall is over this way."
Breakerfall. The color drained from William’s face. "What kind of lunatic would bring them here!"
"We don’t know for sure yet," Elliot Sheridan said in a low voice, ’but it was almost certainly Erin Irving.’
Breakerfall was to the east, requiring them to cross through a forest.
The cars couldn’t go any further, so they had to abandon them and proceed on foot. Cell service was poor by the coast, and the deeper they went, the more the signal weakened.
Owen Sawyer’s call finally came through. "President Sheridan, I’ve found her! Mrs. Sheridan is at Pellinore."
’Pellinore... Isn’t that where they were right now?’
The color drained from Elliot Sheridan’s face and he broke into a run.
’In other words, it wasn’t just Aidan Sheridan, Quentin Chase, and Miles at Breakerfall—Georgia Thorne was there, too.’
’Damn it! That lying piece of scum! I never should have trusted that bastard!’
Seeing him suddenly sprint, the other two men gave chase. Dylan Heston caught up and grabbed his arm. "Elliot, what is it?!"
"That son of a bitch brought Georgia here!"
"No wonder..." Dylan Heston muttered. "Stay calm. They won’t dare make a move before we get there."
Easier said than done. It was impossible for Elliot to remain calm.
