Chapter 353 - 337: I’ve Already Signed the Divorce Agreement

Georgia Thorne said, "Could you please pull over? I have to meet a client."

"Why do you have to see a client today? Can’t you reschedule?" Sharon Ennis asked, worried.

Georgia had just seen Elliot Sheridan, and her emotions were a mess. Sharon was worried about her going to meet a client in this state.

The car pulled over to the side of the road. Georgia then hailed a taxi and headed to the same place as last time.

Georgia always carried her important items with her, especially things like her laptop.

When she arrived at Joanne Donovan’s apartment, she found that the man with the cough was there as well.

With Erin Irving present, Joanne Donovan’s attitude toward Georgia was noticeably more polite. She began describing her ideas for the wedding dress.

Georgia jotted everything down, a weary look on her face. "Miss Donovan, do you have any other requests? It will be difficult to make changes once the dress is designed."

The requests she made today alone were enough to overturn the initial draft, meaning Georgia would have to go back and sketch a whole new design.

"What’s that supposed to mean? Are you saying I’m being a nuisance? Georgia Thorne, don’t forget that I’m your client! What kind of attitude is that?"

"Joanne!" Erin Irving, who had been silent the whole time, cut her off before she could explode. He shot her a sharp glare. Joanne huffed and gave Georgia a disdainful look.

Aside from the initial greeting when Georgia entered the apartment, he hadn’t spoken to her at all.

While Georgia was discussing things with Joanne, Erin didn’t leave. Instead, he sat to the side, looking at his computer, though his gaze would occasionally drift toward Georgia as if by accident.

He was observing her. She had seen Elliot Sheridan today, and Elliot’s biggest concern was Georgia. ’There’s no way he didn’t say anything to her.’

The surveillance footage had left him skeptical. But seeing Georgia’s red, tear-swollen eyes and the sorrow on her face now, it didn’t look like an act.

Erin Irving walked over and said politely, "I’m sorry. She has a bit of a temper."

"It’s fine. If there are no other requests, I’ll be heading back. I’m not feeling well today," Georgia said, her face pale.

"Sorry to have made you come all this way."

Georgia packed her things, got up, and walked toward the door. She noticed Erin Irving was following her. "How about I give you a ride back?"

"Thank you, but I can just get a taxi," Georgia replied, changing into her shoes. "Goodbye, President Irving, Miss Donovan."

"Take care."

The moment the door closed, Georgia felt her heart leap into her throat. A fine sweat broke out on her forehead.

Her legs felt weak, and every step was so unsteady it was like walking on cotton. She had to reach out and brace herself against the wall.

Once inside the elevator, Georgia finally let out a breath, gripping the handrail tightly. ’I hope Erin didn’t notice anything just now.’

Meanwhile, Joanne Donovan had seen how well Erin treated Georgia, and it struck her as odd.

’Erin is getting harder and harder to figure out. He’s the one who told me to call Georgia, but now he’s taking her side.’

The more Joanne thought about it, the more something felt wrong. A suspicious thought took hold. ’Could it be that Erin has... feelings for Georgia?’

But then she dismissed the idea. ’That’s impossible.’

’A man like Erin Irving wouldn’t want someone else’s damaged goods.’

But looking at him now, her initial suspicion felt more and more likely.

Erin Irving was standing by the window, looking down at the street below.

Georgia’s figure was tiny from this high up. She walked out of the apartment building and got into Sam Yates’s car.

’They’re really divorced, but he still has someone protecting her?’

He scoffed, turned, and quickly grabbed his suit jacket from the sofa, shrugging it on.

As he walked to the door, Joanne stood up and called out to him, "Where are you going?"

Erin glanced back, slowly buttoning his jacket. "We’re not even married yet, and you’re already starting to question my whereabouts?"

"And I can’t?" Joanne raised an eyebrow.

"Even if we were married, you wouldn’t have that right."

"Oh, really? If I don’t have the right, then who does? Georgia Thorne?"

At the mention of Georgia’s name, Erin’s expression turned icy, and his tone grew sharp. "What did you say?"

"Georgia Thorne, the woman who was just here. I was just wondering why you suddenly had a change of heart and kept her on, even though she’s one of Elliot Sheridan’s people. Turns out you’ve taken a liking to her!" Joanne laughed arrogantly, crossing her arms. "Let me warn you right now, I’m not generous enough to let my husband keep a mistress on the side."

Even though she didn’t love Erin, she wouldn’t allow any blemishes on her marriage.

’Besides, what did Georgia Thorne do to deserve the affection of both Elliot Sheridan and Erin Irving?’

’Are they both blind? Can’t they see a beautiful woman like me standing right in front of them?’

Joanne shook her head with a TSK. Erin’s face turned ashen. "You should worry about yourself first."

Georgia was surprised to see Sam Yates waiting downstairs, but she quickly understood.

Sam sat in the driver’s seat and glanced at Georgia in the back. "Ma’am, where would you like to go?"

"Back to the apartment, please."

Sam said nothing and pressed the accelerator.

In Erin Irving’s apartment, Georgia had been on high alert, her nerves stretched taut, not daring to relax for a second. Now that she could finally let her guard down, she felt utterly exhausted, both physically and mentally.

She leaned back against the seat and dozed off for a little while.

When she returned to her apartment, the cleaning lady was there.

"Ma’am, you’re back!"

Georgia acknowledged her with a hum. She didn’t see Blue waiting to greet her at the door this time. "Where’s Blue?"

"He just ate. He’s over there, sunbathing," the lady said, pointing to a round, furry ball asleep on the balcony.

Cats love to sunbathe and take a lazy nap after a full meal.

Georgia walked over and gently poked his paw. Seeing how soundly he was sleeping, she decided not to disturb him.

"Ma’am, I’m going to my room to take a nap."

"Of course. I’ve already cleaned the bedroom for you."

Georgia dropped her bag and went into the bedroom.

The moment she was inside, she tossed her bag aside and took out the slip of paper hidden in her pocket.

This note was from when she was face-to-face with Elliot in prison. He had held her hand and pressed it into her palm.

At that moment, her heart had been pounding so hard she thought it would burst. She’d looked up and saw Elliot give her a meaningful glance, then flick his eyes toward the security camera above and behind her. She had understood immediately.

They had been together for five or six years, after all. They had that much of a connection.

She eagerly unfolded the note. Two lines of text were written on the small, square piece of paper.

I’ll be out soon. If you need anything, find Dylan Heston.

This is complicated. Don’t get involved.

Reading these words, Georgia felt both happy and disappointed.

’Does he really not trust me?’

’He’s my husband. How could I possibly stay out of it when he’s in trouble?’

Georgia took out a lighter, burned the note, and opened the window to air out the smell.

She understood the real situation now, but she still didn’t know what Elliot planned to do next.

’How is he going to get out of prison?’

Georgia mulled it over all night and came to a single conclusion.

His imprisonment wasn’t a true defeat. He had let it happen on purpose.

It was all a ploy to make both Erin Irving and Quincy Rhodes lower their guard.

That afternoon, Sharon Ennis, still worried about Georgia, called and then came to the apartment herself.

"Mom, I’m fine, really. Don’t worry."

"Be honest with Mom. What did Elliot say to you today that made you cry like that?" Sharon Ennis still felt uneasy, plagued by a bad feeling.

Georgia shook her head. "I just hadn’t seen him in so long. I was just a little sad, that’s all."

"Oh, you silly girl..." Sharon knew she wasn’t telling the truth. She patted Georgia’s hand comfortingly.

Sharon Ennis stayed to keep Georgia company and remained for dinner.

The cleaning lady prepared dinner. "Dinner is ready!"

「Monday.」

Georgia was at the studio when Sylvie suddenly ran over.

"Miss Thorne, there’s a man at the door looking for you."

Georgia looked up in the direction Sylvie was pointing and saw the man in the suit at the door. It was Elliot Sheridan’s defense attorney.

Georgia led him to a small glass-walled room in the studio. "I’m sorry, I don’t have any tea here. Only plain water."

The lawyer stood up, flustered. "Plain water is fine."

He took the glass of water and set it on the coffee table. "Actually, I came to see you today about this."

The lawyer took a document out of his briefcase and handed it to Georgia.

In black and white, the words "Divorce Agreement" were printed at the top. Elliot Sheridan’s name was already signed on the line for the husband.

Georgia didn’t move. "Please go back and tell him I’m not signing it."

"Ma’am, please don’t make things difficult for me. This..."

Before the lawyer could finish, Georgia pushed the document back toward him, stood up, and walked out.

The glass room was well soundproofed. People outside could see what was happening inside, but they couldn’t hear a word.

Sylvie pulled Luther over, and they leaned curiously on a desk to get a better look at the two people in the glass room.

"Who do you think that guy is? What’s he showing Miss Thorne?"

"No idea."

Seeing the two of them practically climbing over each other, Felix Sinclair cleared his throat coolly. "What are you two doing, gossiping about other people’s business? Get back to work."

Sylvie shot him a sideways glance, then propped her chin on her hand. "Do you think it has something to do with Miss Thorne’s husband?"
