Secret Marriage: The CEO's Pampered Wife

Chapter 352 - 336: It Was Her Who Pushed Me on Purpose

  • Next Chapter

"It’s almost ready. President Irving, when do you need the wedding dress?"

"The sooner the better." The wedding was only a month away, after all. They couldn’t delay the dress for too long.

"I’ll do it as quickly as I can!"

"Great, thank you for your hard work!"

Erin Irving told the two of them to head back first. He clearly had something to discuss with Joanne Donovan alone.

Georgia Thorne and Sylvie went downstairs together. In the elevator, Sylvie was still fuming. "I can’t believe Joanne Donovan is that kind of person!"

"She clearly pushed me on purpose! I was so far from that vase. If it weren’t for her, how could I possibly have knocked it over and broken it!" Sylvie’s face was flushed with anger.

"Okay, it’s over now. Don’t dwell on it." Georgia Thorne glanced at her reflection in the mirror and subconsciously placed a hand over her lower abdomen.

’She had been standing right next to Sylvie. If she wasn’t mistaken, the person Joanne Donovan had really meant to push was her, not Sylvie.’

"If I were President Irving, I would definitely not marry Joanne Donovan. I’d break up with her immediately. Who would dare marry a woman like that!" Sylvie had only met Joanne once, but her impression of her was already at rock bottom.

"It’s other people’s business. Just stay out of it and be more careful in the future."

"Sigh. I guess it was just my bad luck today. From now on, if I see her, I’m definitely taking a detour!" Sylvie said, grinding her teeth.

Back at the studio, only Felix Sinclair was there.

Sylvie immediately unloaded all her grievances about Joanne Donovan onto Felix Sinclair. "Tell me, isn’t Joanne Donovan just infuriating?!"

Felix Sinclair didn’t even glance at her, clearly uninterested in her gossip.

Sylvie pestered him for a while but got no reaction. "I shouldn’t have even bothered telling you. Where’s Luther?"

Luther and Sylvie were kindred spirits. When it came to gossip, even though they didn’t speak the same language, they could still chat with great enthusiasm.

’It was a mystery how the two of them managed to communicate.’

"Where’s Luther? Why don’t I see him?" Sylvie stood up, looked around, and asked again, "Have you seen Luther?"

"How should I know!"

"Weren’t you two still in the studio when Miss Thorne and I left? How could you not know!" Sylvie gave him a hard shove.

Felix Sinclair, finding her too noisy, picked up his laptop to move away from her. Sylvie planted her hands on her hips. "Felix Sinclair, we’ve been classmates for so many years, and you dare to be annoyed with me now? Don’t you walk away!"

Whenever Sylvie was in the studio, she was bound to be pestering Felix Sinclair.

"You dare be annoyed with me? I’m going to bother you all day today!"

Sylvie angrily ran over and sat down next to Felix Sinclair, staring at him with wide eyes.

Georgia Thorne glanced at the calendar on her desk. It was already mid-June.

’Time was passing too quickly. Tomorrow was her second... with Elliot Sheridan.’

’This time, she had no idea if he would be willing to see her.’

After work, Georgia Thorne went home first to grab a few things before returning to the Sheridan residence.

Georgia Thorne was exhausted. After dinner, she went straight to her room to sleep.

Sharon Ennis thought she wasn’t feeling well. It had only been a few days, but she seemed to have lost a lot of weight.

She went upstairs personally to check on her. Georgia Thorne shook her head. "It’s nothing serious, I’m just a little busy with work!"

"Sigh, I told you to take a break from work, but you wouldn’t listen. You just have to run yourself into the ground!" Sharon Ennis said with concern.

Sharon Ennis brought up a bowl of bird’s nest soup. "Eat this. It’ll help you recover. Get a good night’s sleep tonight so you’re ready to see Elliot tomorrow."

Georgia Thorne, "Er..."

’Whether he was willing to see her was another question entirely.’

Georgia Thorne drank the bowl of bird’s nest soup, flopped onto the bed, and fell asleep.

Unlike the last time, she didn’t feel anxious. Instead, she felt a sense of calm resolve.

’She was bringing all these things with her. She refused to believe he wouldn’t see her.’

「The next morning」

Georgia Thorne was up early again.

When she went downstairs, she found that Sharon Ennis was up even earlier. After talking for a bit, Georgia learned that Sharon hadn’t slept well all night.

She was extremely worried. Georgia squeezed her hand comfortingly. "Mom, it’s okay."

In the morning, Georgia Thorne and the others met the lawyer at the prison entrance.

Just like before, the result was the same: Elliot Sheridan was still only willing to see the lawyer.

Before the lawyer went in, Georgia Thorne stopped him. "Wait, I have something I’d like you to show Elliot Sheridan!"

Georgia Thorne pulled the lawyer aside, took a few sheets of paper out of her bag, and handed them to him. "I’m counting on you!"

"Okay, I’ll give them to Elliot Sheridan, but he..."

"I know!"

’She refused to believe that Elliot Sheridan would still refuse to see her after looking at these papers.’

The lawyer was inside for nearly twenty minutes while Georgia Thorne and Sharon Ennis waited anxiously outside.

Twenty minutes later, the lawyer came out. "Mrs. Sheridan, you can go in first."

"Mom, don’t worry. I’ll go in and have a good talk with him," Georgia Thorne said, squeezing Sharon Ennis’s hand.

Sharon Ennis was too emotional to speak and just urged her to go in quickly.

Elliot had been in prison for two months. How had she gotten through it all?

The few photos they had together, her busy work, and now... she also had their child.

Elliot Sheridan sat in the visiting room, dressed in a gray prison uniform. He didn’t look as terrible as she had imagined.

He looked to be in good spirits. Life in prison seemed to be treating him reasonably well.

The moment she stepped through the door, Georgia Thorne heard her own heart pounding wildly—THUMP-THUMP-THUMP. In her eyes, there was only this man.

She sat down across from him. They hadn’t seen each other in so long; she was so nervous she didn’t know what to say first.

’Should she say, "I’m pregnant"? Or ask if he was doing okay? Or should she get to the questions she needed to ask him?’

Elliot Sheridan reached out a hand and took Georgia’s. "Georgia, have you been okay these past two months?"

Georgia Thorne’s gaze shifted to their joined hands. Her throat felt tight. She asked back, "Have you been okay?"

"Living in here, how do you think I’m doing?" Elliot Sheridan gave a bitter laugh. "You know I have to spend the rest of my life—the next thirty years—in this place. You’re still so young, I..."

As if she knew what Elliot Sheridan was about to say, Georgia Thorne quickly cut him off. "Elliot!"

"By the time I get out of prison, I’ll be an old man in his seventies or eighties!" Elliot Sheridan squeezed Georgia Thorne’s hand tighter, his eyes filled with a reluctant sorrow. His grip tightened bit by bit. "Since you’re still young, why don’t we just get a divorce?"

This was the first time Elliot Sheridan had brought up divorce. Georgia Thorne’s tears instantly started to fall.

She remembered the times she had brought up divorce before. This man had always domineeringly shut her down, expressing his own feelings with a fervent passion.

There were some things he wouldn’t say, but they both understood.

"You were the one who said we were never allowed to mention divorce for the rest of our lives! You son of a bitch! You lied to me!"

"You know my situation. Being with me is just dragging you down. It’s better if..."

Before Elliot Sheridan could finish, Georgia Thorne shot up from her chair and slapped him across the face.

A loud, crisp SLAP echoed in the room. A five-fingered handprint immediately appeared on his cheek. With tears streaming down her face, Georgia Thorne said angrily, "I will not get a divorce!"

Elliot Sheridan just smiled, probing his slapped cheek with his tongue. "I’ve already signed the divorce papers. They’re with the lawyer. Just remember to sign them."

"Er..."

Georgia Thorne broke down, crying until she was voiceless. Elliot Sheridan watched her, and his heart ached.

He desperately wanted to reach out and hold her, but he was afraid of giving her a sliver of hope. He forced himself to pull his hand back, clenching it into a fist behind his back.

"Alright, you should head back now."

"I waited for two months for you, and you finally see me just to tell me you want a divorce?" Georgia Thorne’s hoarse voice rose to a shout. "I will not agree to a divorce! No matter what happens to you in the future, I will never agree!"

"Georgia Thorne!" Elliot Sheridan said her full name, his tone stern. "Go back!"

"Are you divorcing me because you want to be with Quentin Chase? I knew it! You still like your first love! Before, you would at least lie to me..." Georgia Thorne was crying and making a scene, pounding on Elliot Sheridan’s body before a nearby guard pulled her away.

"Mrs. Sheridan, you need to leave now!"

"Elliot Sheridan, you son of a bitch! I won’t divorce you! I won’t let you get what you want!" Georgia Thorne wiped her tears as she was forcibly escorted out by the guard.

Meanwhile, Sharon Ennis and James Sheridan, who were waiting outside, saw Georgia Thorne being helped out.

Georgia Thorne’s face was covered in tears. Sharon Ennis rushed forward to support her. "What happened? Why are you crying?"

Sharon Ennis’s heart ached as she wiped away Georgia’s tears. Georgia Thorne just shook her head. "It’s nothing!"

’How could it be nothing when she was crying like this?’

Georgia Thorne wouldn’t say, so Sharon Ennis couldn’t find out. Perhaps Georgia was just too emotional after seeing Elliot, and that’s why...

On the way back, Georgia Thorne was silent, just sitting there with a blank expression.

She was completely lost in thought. Sharon Ennis called her name a few times, but she didn’t respond.

Her eyes were red and swollen. Sharon Ennis and James Sheridan exchanged a glance and sighed helplessly.

During the drive back, Joanne Donovan called. She said she had some ideas about the wedding dress and absolutely had to meet with her.

Georgia Thorne was in no mood and refused a few times, but Joanne Donovan was stubborn. The more Georgia refused to come out, the more Joanne insisted.

Her tone grew heated, but then she seemed to hear a cough on her end of the line, and her voice immediately softened again.

"You get over here right now!" Joanne Donovan said imperiously before hanging up.

Georgia Thorne had taken the call in the car, but Mr. and Mrs. Sheridan didn’t know who was on the other end.
