Chapter 798: Chapter 798: Everything from Twenty Years Ago 4
"I know."
Quentin Holland looked at her and spoke deliberately, "Then has it ever made you wonder?"
’My blood type... What is there to wonder about?’
’What could I possibly think?’
’I guess my blood type has always been special, ever since I was a child.’
Annabelle Linton remembered being called a bastard by Yvonne Miller when she was a child because of her blood type.
Because of this, there had been a huge fight in the family. They went to the hospital for a paternity test, but the doctor could only say that her blood type was very special—one he had never seen before. Consequently, there was no way to determine the truth of the matter.
Then, Leona’s grandfather had stepped in. He explained that Leona Grant also had the same blood type, and even though her blood type was different from Mr. and Mrs. Grant’s, she was, without a doubt, a child of the Grant family—because her grandfather and Leona shared the same blood type.
Annabelle Linton, however, had no grandfather. That was because the parents of William Chapman and Tina Chapman had both died in a car accident when they were very young.
They were still very young at the time, and with no other relatives, they were raised with financial support from the government.
Therefore, they were not very clear about their parents’ blood types.
Ultimately, her blood type was rare, but there was no way to confirm anything. Since Leona Grant’s situation was similar, Annabelle hadn’t given the matter much thought.
Annabelle Linton suddenly recalled something Leona’s grandfather had told her a long, long time ago.
He had said that since she and Leona Grant shared the same blood type, and since it was so rare in this world, they should cherish one another and be together.
That way, if something were to happen to one of them, the other would be a safeguard, as their blood type was not compatible with O-type blood.
Annabelle Linton looked at Quentin Holland and shook her head. "Quentin, I don’t know what you’re talking about."
Quentin Holland stared at her and said, enunciating each word, "Annabelle, you are not the Linton family’s daughter at all. The people you knew as your parents in the Linton family, and your brother, Ryan Linton—none of them are your real family. You have no blood relation to them whatsoever."
Annabelle Linton’s eyes flew wide with shock. Her mind felt like it had just exploded, and she stood frozen to the spot, completely unable to process it.
"Quentin, what are you saying?" she asked subconsciously, her mouth slightly agape, her expression one of utter astonishment.
Quentin Holland knew she would find this information impossible to believe.
He looked at her with a steady, serious gaze. "Annabelle, do you know of the hereditary monarchy, Country V?"
"In Country V, the line of succession isn’t determined by gender, only by bloodline. Over twenty years ago, Country V was plunged into a bloody upheaval. Countless people died in the conflict, including the ruling King. The heir vanished during the chaos, their whereabouts unknown. And you, Annabelle... you are that heir."
Annabelle Linton’s eyes widened even further in astonishment, as if a bolt of lightning had just struck her from a clear sky, leaving her utterly fried.
She was finding it incredibly difficult to digest what Quentin Holland was telling her.
’I’m... the heir?’
’The heir to Country V?’
’This has to be a joke... right? Although, back when William Chapman used to treat her so poorly, she did sometimes wonder if she wasn’t his biological daughter. But that was just a fleeting thought.’
’She’d never seriously, truly questioned her own origins.’
’Not even across two lifetimes.’
’She had just assumed her father had a change of heart and cheated.’
Annabelle Linton stared at him blankly, her heart pounding in her chest. Her mouth was slightly parted, but she couldn’t make a sound.
