Remarriage Failed Again Today
Chapter 797: Everything 20 Years Ago 3
It was clear that she truly couldn’t go on without Leona Grant. All the pain she’d endured during the experiments had been for him…
Quentin Holland watched her happy expression, his own gaze complex. He didn’t know what to say.
After a moment, he let out a heavy sigh and said with resolve, “But there’s something we have to tell you.”
“We?” Annabelle Linton’s confused gaze shifted between Quentin Holland and Aaron Wyatt, her eyes filled with bewilderment. “What is it?”
Quentin Holland pressed his lips together, his Adam’s apple bobbing. A pang of bitterness welled up in his chest, but he forced it back down.
‘If he could, he wished she would never have to know about any of this and could just live a simple, happy life.’
But such is fate—never within a person’s control. Besides, Annabelle Linton was no ordinary person to begin with.
The mission and responsibilities she shouldered were far heavier than those of an ordinary person.
Quentin Holland gazed at her intently, his voice somewhat hoarse as he said, “There’s only one dose of the antidote.”
Annabelle Linton’s eyes widened in shock. Her mouth fell slightly open, but she didn’t know what to say.
On the way over, listening to Mr. Holland’s tone, she had considered this possibility.
During the experiments, she had considered the issue of resources. ‘With such a rare disease,’ she’d thought, ‘there’s a high chance there will only be one dose of the antidote. If that’s the case, it should go to Leona Grant.’
But to actually hear those words… she still couldn’t help but tremble.
‘The antidote… is there really only one dose?’
‘Doesn’t that mean… she and Leona Grant would be separated…’
Annabelle Linton trembled all over, as if her very blood was turning to ice. Her voice shook as she asked, “Only one dose? What do you mean, only one dose? Why is there only one?”
She fired off the three questions in a row, knowing this was no joke. A mist slowly clouded her eyes as she asked, agitated, “If the first dose could be made, why can’t a second? Is it a matter of time? We still have two months…”
Quentin Holland hadn’t even explained the reason, yet Annabelle Linton had already guessed so much. It was clear she had long anticipated the possibility that there might only be one dose.
Quentin Holland walked over and guided her to sit on the sofa.
Sitting on the sofa, Annabelle Linton gripped Quentin Holland’s arm and pleaded, “Mr. Holland, tell me there’s more than just this one dose, please? The world is a huge place; there has to be more of the antidote somewhere, right?”
Quentin Holland’s deep eyes gazed at her profoundly. He then closed them for a moment before saying in a low voice, “There is.”
Annabelle Linton looked at him expectantly, waiting for him to continue.
Quentin Holland looked into her clear, desperate eyes and said, “There is indeed a second dose. But I don’t have it. If you want to get it, you’ll have to leave this place. Annabelle, are you willing?”
Annabelle Linton was completely lost. She frowned, gazing at Quentin Holland in a daze, unsure of what he was talking about.
But she knew Mr. Holland had more to tell her.
A sense of foreboding suddenly washed over Annabelle Linton.
“Annabelle, the reason we asked you here today is to tell you something.”
“Your blood type is the rarest in the world—so rare that many people have never even heard of it. You know that, right?”
Annabelle Linton still didn’t quite understand what he was getting at, but she nodded nonetheless.
