Chapter 796: Chapter 796: Everything from Twenty Years Ago 2

Quentin Holland answered the phone and delivered a brief, simple message, adding at the very end, "The antidote’s been found."

Without giving Annabelle Linton a moment to reply, he hung up.

After he hung up, Annabelle Linton listened to the dial tone, completely stunned. Her head felt foggy, and her mind couldn’t quite catch up...

’The antidote... has been found?’

’They found the antidote?!’

Annabelle Linton’s eyes instantly lit up. She leaped up from the hospital bed, dropped the phone, and rushed outside.

The glass room had a special design meant to keep outside bacteria from getting in. The door would only open if a password was entered from the outside.

Annabelle Linton couldn’t open the door and began pounding on the glass.

When Mia Holloway saw Annabelle pounding on the door, she immediately keyed in the password and opened it, asking anxiously, "Annabelle, what’s wrong?"

But Annabelle Linton paid her no mind. The moment she was through the door, she bolted, not even taking the time to change out of her sterile hospital gown.

She felt like she was on a roller coaster. It was like living in a dream.

It all felt so unreal. Before this, she had clearly given up, resigned to despair. Everything she was doing now was just a last-ditch struggle born from her refusal to give in.

But she never expected that they would actually find the antidote.

But for some reason, amid her elation, Annabelle Linton also felt a strange, complicated emotion.

It was oppressive, heavy, somewhat suffocating.

She didn’t know why she felt this way. ’It’s probably because of Mr. Holland’s flat, emotionless tone.’

’Logically, since he cares so much about me, he should be thrilled about finding the antidote. But I could clearly sense a kind of... restraint in his voice.’

’But why?’

’Oh well,’ she thought. ’I’ll find out when I get there.’

’In any case, finding the antidote is a good thing.’

When Annabelle Linton arrived at Mr. Holland’s hotel room, she was about to knock, but the door was unlocked.

She walked right in.

Quentin Holland and Aaron Wyatt were sitting in the room.

Annabelle Linton froze when she saw Aaron Wyatt.

’Didn’t he say he was going abroad?’

’Is he back already?’

"Annabelle." Seeing her, Aaron Wyatt stood up and was the first to speak. "How have you been lately?"

He had heard she was in constant pain during the experiments. He only knew from what others told him; he had never dared to go and see for himself.

Because all the suffering Annabelle Linton was enduring now was his fault.

"I’m fine."

Annabelle Linton was feeling too anxious to bother with anything else. She gave Aaron Wyatt a terse reply, then immediately turned to Mr. Holland. "Mr. Holland, what you said before... that you found the antidote. Is it really true?"

Quentin Holland watched her with a heavy heart. Looking into her expectant eyes, he finally nodded and said in a solemn voice, "It’s true."

Tears instantly welled in Annabelle Linton’s eyes, and her body trembled slightly. "That’s wonderful," she said, her voice choked with emotion. "Just wonderful... The antidote has finally been found. Leona Grant is going to be okay..."

Hearing this, Aaron Wyatt couldn’t stop the light from dimming in his eyes.

He had felt awful before when Quentin Holland told him how much Annabelle Linton cared for Leona Grant. Now, watching this scene unfold, his heart truly ached.

The antidote had been found, yet the first person she was happy for wasn’t herself, but Leona Grant.
