Chapter 667: Chapter 667: What Caught Your Eye?

The way they interacted with each other left Mrs. Yates staring in a daze. She instinctively glanced at the others nearby and saw them also watching the pair with faces full of envy.

"Look, that’s Leona Grant, the CEO of Grant Group. The one next to him is his wife. They’re such a perfect match," a young woman nearby said excitedly.

"I know, right? That’s what I think too," another young woman added. "But I thought I heard that Young Master Grant never comes to events like this. Why do you think he’s here today?"

"Maybe they’re here to buy something. And did you see them? They’re so affectionate! Young Master Grant looks like he absolutely adores his wife. But I thought I heard they didn’t get along? You call this ’not getting along’?"

"Probably just rumors started by women jealous of Mrs. Grant. Honestly, seeing them now, I’m getting jealous enough to start some myself. They’re just too perfect together..."

"Sigh. We’re all the same age, so why are our lives so different? After I married him, he just stopped coming home..."

"Same here. He even has another woman, but we can’t get a divorce since our marriage was an alliance. Sigh... I envy Mrs. Grant so much..."

In truth, these young women trapped by their marriages couldn’t stand seeing others who were better off.

Yet, looking at Annabelle Linton’s distant and impassive profile, they found it impossible to hate her. On the contrary, it made them want to approach her.

Mrs. Yates was just as mesmerized by their interaction. Forget the young women—even she couldn’t help but feel envious...

Mrs. Yates watched for a while longer before she suddenly came to her senses.

’She’s just a bitch, what’s there to be envious of?’

’I mean, if you’re going to come here, you should at least look up at the items on display. What’s the point of coming just to stare down at your phone?’

’Is she in heat?’

Mrs. Yates’s stare at Annabelle Linton grew more hateful and contemptuous by the second. In the end, it was Mr. Yates who noticed and gave her a firm shake, forcing her to look away and come back to her senses.

"What are you staring at?" Mr. Yates said excitedly. "Our vase is up!"

Mrs. Yates looked to the stage. A celadon antique vase had been brought out. Its color and patterns were of the highest quality, and it was the perfect size for flower arrangements. As expected of a family heirloom.

The auctioneer was giving a lengthy speech, which basically amounted to a history of the vase.

Mrs. Yates had no interest in listening, her eyes fixed solely on the vase.

After about three minutes, the auctioneer finally got to the most important part: "This blue and white koi porcelain vase starts at seven and a half million, with minimum increments of five hundred thousand. Let the bidding begin!"

The words had barely left his mouth when the bidding began—

"Eight million!"

"Nine and a half million!"

"Eleven million!"

"Thirteen million!"

"Twenty million!"

At that bid, the entire hall went silent.

That’s right—it was Mr. Yates who made the bid.

He had driven the price to almost three times the starting amount, shocking everyone in the room.

The crowd, unaware of the vase’s connection to the Yates Family, began to look at him with admiration—

’President Yates is truly a great philanthropist, so generous. To be willing to spend so much at a charity auction... he’s truly a kind man.’

Basking in the crowd’s admiring gazes, Lauren suddenly felt incredibly proud. She couldn’t help but lift her chin, a haughty smile on her face. ℴ

Annabelle Linton calmly put her phone away and turned to Leona Grant. "I want to buy something."

Leona Grant raised an eyebrow slightly. "See something you like?"
