Chapter 668: Chapter 668: I’ll Buy You Whatever You Want, Even if It Bankrupts Me
He then looked toward the stage, then back at her with a hint of disdain. "You haven’t taken a liking to *that*, have you?"
Annabelle Linton saw his disdainful expression and burst out laughing. "But I have. Are you going to buy it for me?"
Leona Grant nodded knowingly, as if it were a matter of course. He frowned, looking at her with a serious, almost angry expression. "Of course I’ll buy it. How could I not buy something my wife has her eye on?! But... will you be good?"
"Yes!" Annabelle Linton said bluntly. "I’ll listen to everything you say from now on!"
"Great. In that case, we’re not buying it!"
Annabelle Linton: "..."
’This man...’
"Be serious, will you? Are you going to buy it?"
Leona Grant looked at her and frowned, chiding her, "What kind of taste is that? That worthless vase costs over twenty million. What a waste of money. We’re not buying it!"
’Since when has Young Master Grant ever been short on cash?’
Annabelle Linton could tell what he was thinking just by looking at him.
’And as it happened, that was exactly what she needed to do. What she *had* to do.’
Annabelle Linton shook his arm, pouting her lips and saying pitifully, "So you’re really not buying it for me...?"
Hearing her soft voice, Leona Grant felt a tightening in his loins.
’Damn it. Seducing him right here and now!’
And yet, like a glutton for punishment, he found himself wanting to hear more of her sweet talk.
Leona Grant nodded, looking at her seriously. "That’s right."
Annabelle Linton kept shaking his arm, leaning against his body as she gazed up at him.
Leona Grant’s lips curved into a smile. He pulled her directly onto his lap and caressed her face. "Not unless you call me hubby and give me a kiss."
’She knew he’d be like this.’
His antics made Annabelle Linton laugh. She gave him a kiss, wrapped her arms around him, and said with a smile, "Thank you, hubby."
Looking at her radiant smile, Leona Grant couldn’t resist leaning down to give her another kiss. His lips brushed against her cheek as he spoke. "As long as you want it, I’ll buy it for you, even if it bankrupts me."
Annabelle Linton smiled and said gently, "But this vase could get really expensive. It’s definitely not worth the price."
"That doesn’t matter. As long as you like it."
Annabelle Linton cupped his face and said, "Alright. You’re the one who said it."
Leona Grant seized the chance to kiss her again. "I’m the one who said it."
Annabelle Linton’s lips curved into a slight smile as she turned back toward the stage.
Leona Grant took the opportunity to adjust her into a more comfortable position, though she remained on his lap.
By now, the bidding for the vase had reached thirty million, with the latest bid from Mr. Yates.
Mrs. Yates, chin held high, looked impossibly smug. When Annabelle Linton glanced her way, she shot Annabelle a provocative stare.
"Thirty million, going once—"
No one spoke up, which seemed to imply that no one could afford to bid any higher.
"Thirty million, going twice—"
The smiles on Mrs. and Mr. Yates’s faces widened uncontrollably as they gazed at the stage, their expressions a mixture of pride and anticipation.
After all, this was the first item of the night to reach such a high price.
They wouldn’t just be getting the item; they would be gaining prestige as well.
The auctioneer raised the hammer, just about to bring it down. "Thirty million..."
"Forty million."
A woman’s voice, calm and laced with a hint of casual indifference, cut through the silence.
All eyes turned to see Annabelle Linton holding up her paddle. Beside her—or rather, beneath her, as she was sitting on his lap—was Leona Grant.
Leona Grant, for his part, completely ignored the crowd’s curious and gossipy stares, his eyes fixed only on Annabelle Linton.
’Holy crap... A worthless vase valued at 7.5 million just hit 40 million! The bids were going up by five hundred thousand, and she just raised it by ten million in one go!’
’The rich can really do whatever they want!’
The crowd’s gazes darted between the parties involved, everyone ready to watch the drama unfold.
Even those who had no interest in the vase before were now intrigued.
