Remarriage Failed Again Today
Chapter 666: Don’t Cause Me Unnecessary Trouble, You Hear Me?
Chapter 666: Chapter 666: Don’t Cause Me Unnecessary Trouble, You Hear Me?
She just knew it. That bitch was the one who forced her Vivian away.
If it weren’t for her, why would her daughter have run off abroad for so long? Why would she only make a single phone call and refuse to even see her mother?
She realized she truly despised her—hated her enough to wish her dead!
Mrs. Yates clenched her fists, suppressing her rage as she watched them walk away.
Mr. Yates followed her gaze and saw Leona Grant holding Annabelle Linton, trying to soothe her.
His expression darkened. "Vivian has already gone abroad to recover," he said. "I’m sure she’ll be better soon. Once she’s healed, we’ll find her a better match—someone who will spoil her rotten. As for Leona Grant, just forget about her. It’s time to move on."
At the end of the hallway, Annabelle Linton, her face dark for some reason, was saying something to Leona Grant. Leona, however, was patiently holding her hand and speaking to her gently.
Annabelle pushed her away, but Leona moved closer. Annabelle pushed her again, and Leona kissed her. The doting smile playing on her lips made it clear at a glance that she absolutely adored Annabelle.
Watching them, Mrs. Yates’s anger flared. She gritted her teeth and said, "But I can’t accept this! In what way is our Vivian inferior to her?!"
"Lauren!" Mr. Yates snapped. "I’ll say this one last time: The Grant Family is not someone we can afford to provoke. It would have been great if Vivian and Leona Grant could be together, but if it can’t happen, then let it go. Don’t you dare cause any unnecessary trouble for me, do you hear me?!"
Mrs. Yates looked at him, her expression full of grievance. "But I..."
Mr. Yates’s expression remained grim, but he reined in his anger. "The gala is about to start," he said sternly. "Let’s go in. Don’t forget why we’re here today. When our family fell on hard times, my father had no choice but to sell our heirloom, the Koi Vase.
"Legend has it that vase was a family heirloom for nearly fifty years. When my father was on his deathbed, he told me over and over that I had to get it back within my lifetime, or he wouldn’t be able to rest in peace. I made a solemn vow to him. There can be absolutely no mistakes today, do you understand?"
As willful as she was, Mrs. Yates understood the gravity of the situation. Despite her simmering resentment, she suppressed her frustration and nodded. "I understand."
Only then did Mr. Yates relax and head inside with her.
The charity gala had already begun. The two of them found their seats as indicated on their invitation.
Mrs. Yates had just sat down when she spotted Annabelle Linton and her party—
They were in the exclusive VIP section, seated on a sofa behind a glass partition. An array of snacks was laid out before them, and they had their own monitor.
Compared to the Yateses, their accommodations were luxurious. Mr. and Mrs. Yates only had simple chairs, and even those seats had been difficult to secure.
The lighting in their area was soft and pleasant. Annabelle had her legs crossed, her gaze fixed on her phone, while Leona thoughtfully fed her snacks and even held a drink to her lips.
Annabelle took only a cursory sip before pulling away. Leona then used the same straw to take a sip herself before pointing to the stage, seemingly asking if anything had caught her eye.
Annabelle gave a faint shake of her head, never once looking up at Leona. Leona, however, gazed down at her with rapt attention, then leaned in to kiss her forehead and gently stroke her hair.
Throughout the entire exchange, Annabelle remained aloof, while Leona was incredibly attentive.
One might have thought Annabelle was angry, or that Leona was just putting on a show for everyone, but that wasn’t the case.
Annabelle had been exasperated earlier, not angry. And even if she had been upset, her anger had long since faded.
And Leona wasn’t acting, either—that look of profound affection was impossible to fake.
