Chapter 505: Lanceroy, Steele, and Duron
Chapter 505: Lanceroy, Steele, and Duron
As soon as Xu Feng practically gave the order to tell the Tanks to sacrifice themselves for the greater good, Herald Fist stepped forward and gazed at his subordinates.
They were basically charging to their death, but not an ounce of guilt could be seen in his expression.
"Tanks from my Tyrant Fist Guild! Listen up and do your duty as commanded by the Raid Leader. Let the others know that we have no cowards in my guild!" Herald Fist raised his voice and shouted loudly, using this as an opportunity to gain publicity from those watching in the stream.
Since Xu Feng had gone as far as informing them that their chance of death was extremely high, then it meant that whatever the Golem Sentinel was up to now was devastating to their group.
After all, it would be a bad reputation for Xu Feng if he deliberately sent people to their deaths without probable cause.
Not to mention, Herald Fist could sense the solemnity of Xu Feng's tone.
It wasn't just him who had sensed it, but numerous more, especially those who were the leading player in their respective guilds or adventure teams.
Xu Feng had always been the calm and collected Raid Leader. There were only a handful of occasions where he would actually turn serious and extremely authoritative.
"Don't just look at the Tanks going to sacrifice their life!" Xu Feng hissed coldly when he noticed they were all standing still like dorks.
"Quickly hop to other platforms and begin to separate among yourself with each platform having no more than 15 people!" He added, urging the others to migrate.
"Eh, we're not going to continue the formation anymore?" SilentWhisper was dumbfounded by the command.
Previously, Xu Feng heavily emphasized the need to remain close together. This stood true even when some of their Tanks were distorted and chased after them with killing intent.
"That was only before the Sentinel was active." Xu Feng coolly responded, not even bothering to turn his attention to her. His focus right now was solely on the Golem Sentinel.
Shortly after Xu Feng made his command, those who hopped off to other platforms were those of the same affiliation. Now that they are in the boss room, added to the fact that the saboteurs were promptly dealt with, he no longer stopped them from grouping together as one.
After all, the cooperation and communication between those within the same affiliation would be greater than grouping with unknown-unfamiliar players.
Meanwhile, the Tanks who had charged forward were subsequently apprehended by the Golem Sentinel.
The Golem Sentinel's rage was palpable, and its glowing eyes narrowed as it turned its full attention to the tanks, abandoning its original plan to wipe out Xu Feng's entire team.
ROAR!!
As it made a threatening roar and raised its arms up high, seemingly trying to splat them like some ants, the Tanks remained expressionless.
The tanks stood their ground, with their weapons raised, and armor gleaming under the harsh, dim light of the room. Despite knowing what was coming after seeing the mighty large stone palm rising sky-high above them, none of them flinched.
"Hmph, let me be the first to witness the boss's attack." The first tank, Lanceroy, was the first to meet the Golem's wrath.
Having mistakenly attacked his fellow ally, he was ashamed and embarrassed. He might have been killed by Carmen, but there was no anger or resentment toward her.
In fact, he was glad that he got killed and revived, returning to his original conscious state.
As Lanceroy raised his shield just in time as the Sentinel's massive stone fist crashed down, he gnashed his teeth to resist the impact.
His hands trembled heavily under the sheer force of the impact as it reverberated through the ground, shaking the entire platform.
"I-I can still handle it…" Lanceroy's attempt in trying to motivate himself faltered as he soon found himself being forced to kneel on one knee from the crushing pressure.
A few seconds later, his shield could no longer withstand the damage and cracked under the immense pressure. Although he tried to hold steady, the second strike from the Sentinel shattered both his defense and his body, sending him flying backward in a lifeless heap.
Before dying, Lanceroy didn't utter a single sound of pain as he noticed his health points had dropped to 0.
Shortly after Lanceroy fell, another tank, Steele, charged forward, using his taunting skill to draw the Sentinel's attention toward him.
"Come at me, you big dumb stone!" He yelled, slamming his shield into the ground to create a shockwave, but the Sentinel was relentless.
It snickered coldly in response as its massive foot stomped down, crushing the uneven floor and Steele along with it. Despite his armor and body crumbling under the devastating blow, he held the line till the very end.
"I'll leave the rest to you, Duron." Steele turned to his comrade before being sent flying straight to the wall, his health points plummeting straight to 0. Experience new stories on My Virtual Library Empire
"Leave this stone bastard to me!" The final tank, Duron, stood defiant, his stance unwavering even as his comrades fell one by one.
With a bellow, he threw himself between the Sentinel and the remaining group, knowing this was his last stand.
Meanwhile, the Sentinel was now in full rampage mode after getting repeatedly hindered by the Tanks' taunting skill one after another.
It proceeded to unleash a barrage of strikes, each one deadlier than the last to vent its frustration.
Amidst the barrage of strikes, Duron managed to deflect a few, his armor denting with every hit. But with one final, crushing blow, the Sentinel's stone fist came down, and Duron smiled bitterly at the upcoming strike.
Exhausted, and equipment broken completely, Duron still raised his cracked shield up to stall as much as he could. Even in the face of death, he had held his ground, buying precious time for the team to regroup.
Although they might have died from the boss, not a single person laughed or teased them. In fact, the viewers watching the stream, with OneManMedia being a competent cameraman had displayed the scene of honorary players dying for the greater good.
Many of the viewers in the comment section typed a single letter "F" in the chat to demonstrate their respect for the fallen.
"Herald Fist's subordinates sure aren't simple." Xu Feng murmured as he gazed at the dead three Tanks. Their cooperation and resilient behavior were something to be praised.
