Chapter 1447: Royal Court Part 7
Chapter 1447: Royal Court Part 7
Xu Feng patiently waited for his turn to speak. He could sense that Olivia was starting to suspect him as well. After all, that detection orb really didn’t help his case much.
But then again, he had already anticipated the orb to glow either yellow or red because of his past antics.
Don’t forget that he made a fool out of the Colossuses previously to mess with the Miracle Pavilion.
And precisely because of that interaction, it was only obvious that he had lots of residual from the Colossus.
"Defendant Lin Feng, do you have anything to explain about the orb’s color?" Olivia jotted down some notes before finally permitting him to speak.
When he was permitted, Xu Feng smiled lightly.
"I have indeed made contact with the Colossuses." He admitted on the spot.
Olivia raised an eyebrow. She was clearly surprised by his honesty in admitting it without giving any half-assed excuses.
Usually, the defendant, whether they were guilty or innocent, would tend to lie to protect their interest.
Yet Xu Feng didn’t even attempt to do anything to protect his own interests and was rather frank with his response.
A few seconds later, Olivia snapped out of her momentary daze.
"Defendant, can you explain when and how you made contact with the Colossuses? If possible, please be as detailed as possible." Olivia inquired.
Needless to say, her inquiry garnered quite a few displeased grunts. In their mind, there was no need to continue the hearing anymore.
To have the orb glow in such a color should have been enough to incriminate Xu Feng with the crime of being a traitor.
Just how many contacts did you have to make daily to produce such a color?
Not even those who barely escaped the clutches of the Colossuses would produce such a color, and would usually be around bright yellow.
Alas, their disgruntlement could only be at a bare minimum as they feared offending Olivia, who could be said to be beneath only Emperor Aether.
If even those high nobles remained motionless, then what could they do as mere spectators?
In the meantime, Xu Feng held a difficult expression.
Upon seeing that, Olivia frowned slightly.
"Defendant, the current state is very disadvantageous to you. If you choose to remain silent, then there would be problems." She warned him kindly.
"It’s not that I wish to remain silent. But are you sure you want me to reveal the stuff here?" Xu Feng sighed and glanced at the audience area alongside the high seats.
"If I reveal what I said here, can you guarantee it won’t leak outside?"
"What are you implying?"
"I’m implying that the information I would disclose could potentially alter the state of the war, either from good to extremely bad."
"THE AUDACITY!"
Before Olivia could even respond, one of the higher nobles stood up and exclaimed loudly.
"How dare you still threaten us while standing there as an accused!" They continued, roaring thunderously.
"Enough!" Olivia banged the gavel on her table one last time. Her eyes fiercely glaring at the noble who tried to disrupt the court and manipulate others’ emotions.
How could she not tell what their intention was?
She merely didn’t care until they went overboard.
"Count Louie, please refrain from interrupting my courtroom and causing a commotion. If it happens again, I would have to ask you to leave." She said in a calm and composed tone.
Despite the tone of usage, it was evident to everyone that she was displeased.
Sure enough, Count Louie hurriedly bowed and apologized for his behavior.
"It won’t happen again, Judge Olivia." He then took his seat, no longer daring to challenge her authority. The goal had been achieved anyway. There was no need to continue any further instigation.
Olivia no longer bothered with the noble and returned her gaze to Xu Feng.
"Are you saying that what you’re about to say is highly sensitive information?" She asked calmly.
Xu Feng nodded his head. As much as he wanted to reveal it, he was certain that some people in the courtroom had already turned their backs on humanity.
This was clear when so many people were ready to clamor together to incriminate him.
Of course, there were some who truly believed he was guilty, but they were just in the minority.
The loudest voices were usually those hired or instructed by the mastermind.
As for who they were?
Xu Feng already knew it. The only problem was that he lacked physical evidence to prove it.
And he highly doubted the higher-ups would believe his accusation. They would simply believe it was retaliation and treat his accusation as nonsense or slander.
’Sigh, this is why people sucks,’ He thought to himself. Even though he knew the culprit, he couldn’t do a thing to them.
That’s life for you!
Sometime later, Olivia narrowed her eyes slightly.
"Are you implying I should clear everyone out?" She asked, her tone slightly cold. Even if there was sensitive information, this was a courtroom.
She cannot, for the sake of setting up a precedent, allow Xu Feng to dismiss every spectator in the courtroom simply because he had sensitive information that couldn’t be divulged.
If she really allowed this to happen, then every other case going forward would follow this sample, which would become a catastrophe for actual criminals to get away with.
They could just claim sensitive information, and corrupted judges could lie and say they were innocent based on that confidential sensitive information.
"That is not my intention." Xu Feng shook his head. He naturally knew how unrealistic it was to evacuate everyone from the courtroom.
"What I suggest is writing down a magic contract that they are not allowed to disclose this information to anyone else, whether it was direct or indirect to others."
Olivia narrowed her eyes and frowned deeply. Although the crowd remained silent, it was pretty evident that they were on the verge of cursing Xu Feng aloud.
His implication was no different than saying that the audience was the actual traitors and not him.
