Chapter 1448: Royal Court Part 8
Chapter 1448: Royal Court Part 8
At the current moment, the Royal Court was filled with tension and suffocation that seemed to explode in the snap of a finger.
The audacity of Xu Feng was spread far and wide in the courtroom.
It had gotten to the point where Olivia was wondering if the latter was treating this place as a joke.
"That’s a near impossible request to fulfill, Defendant," Olivia said in a stern voice.
There was no way they would draft a magic contract for everyone present to keep their mouth shut from the content being divulged.
Not to mention, agreeing to the request was no different than the previous suggestion of evacuating people.
"Well, then, I’m afraid I cannot divulge it." Xu Feng shrugged.
"I’m not going to reveal such sensitive information in front of a crowd without any guarantee that it won’t leak out. After all, it concerns humanity as a whole." He continued, giving them an ultimatum.
Olivia frowned deeply when she realized he was being serious.
’This Immortal really doesn’t care...’ Before coming in here, she had long been briefed about Xu Feng’s background.
And to her absolute bewilderment, the latter actually held so many significant roles, especially the Arcane Vein, which still served as a big natural resource for the Aetheria Empire.
With this kind of chip as his support, it was only natural that Xu Feng wouldn’t care much. Moreover, he was an Immortal, so execution or whatnot had little to no effort in him.
In fact, if they were to push him too far and he actually decided to join the enemies or nearby empires, then they would be massively screwed.
"Hah..." She exhaled softly before snapping her fingers. Soon, the atmosphere between them began to twist. Before long, Xu Feng found himself standing in front of Olivia alone.
"This is my private domain, Defendant Lin Feng. Time is paused here, so speak your mind freely." Olivia explained lightly.
As a Tier 5 powerhouse, this was only possible when one had great control of time magic.
Besides the skill, it was also a demonstration and a warning to Xu Feng to stop beating around the bush.
If she desired, then she could potentially trap him in her private domain.
’Looks like now’s the time.’ Xu Feng naturally knew Olivia held such a prowess. Hence, he had been constantly hinting at a private talk with Olivia.
"This is the story, Judge Olivia." He proceeded to explain his interaction with the Colossuses, alongside how he scammed and deceived them for information.
Time quickly went by, and Olivia’s face was visibly shocked by the content.
"Unbelievable..." She muttered in disbelief. She didn’t doubt his words when the details were so vivid. Moreover, he even retrieved the items that he scammed from the Colossus.
However, what truly astonished her was the Colossus’s mindset.
They were clearly much more intelligent than they initially perceived. Not to mention, their actions of trying to integrate themselves as part of the Divine World were very ambitious.
Once succeeded, and the majority of the humans began to accept their existence, the whole power structure would shift.
No wonder this was sensitive information.
Olivia could imagine the scale of damage done if this were indeed said in the courtroom.
"Why didn’t you just reveal this earlier rather than escalating to this situation?" Olivia pursed her lips and asked. Had he revealed it from the start, then there would have been no need for a court hearing.
Xu Feng shrugged in response. "I was busy with some investigation, and the accusation was suddenly revealed. Before I could even defend myself properly, a court hearing was already in the process."
Upon hearing that, Olivia was rendered speechless. She was unable to refute that when she was approached by others, everything was already on the fast track.
"As much as the information you said could verify you innocent of the accusation, I fear for the implications." She said with much difficulty.
"It’s okay." As if already expected such a decision, Xu Feng continued. "Just put me as guilty for now and send me to the front line as a chance to redeem myself."
"Send you to the front line?"
"Mhmm, I’ve long planned on confronting the Colossuses ever since I received permission to have my own Army Camp. It’s just that I haven’t gotten an opportunity to be deployed."
Olivia wasn’t surprised by the fact that he wished for a guilty verdict.
It was clear to her that he didn’t care much about the court hearing. He had treated the Royal Court as a joke, something she didn’t like.
However, she had been informed that an assassination attempt had occurred a few minutes ago involving Xu Feng.
Precisely because of this gross negligence, she had been rather patient with him.
Who would remain sane and magnanimous when being targeted to such a degree?
Hell, she would have long erupted if someone dared to so much as to scheme against her on the spot.
It was only in the Royal Court that she had to remain professional and uptight. Otherwise, those nobles sitting wouldn’t have repeatedly tried to challenge her prestige and authority.
"Very well." Olivia nodded her head. "I won’t hand over the guilty verdict, but I will say insufficient evidence to incriminate you. And to prove your innocence, I would decree you to be deployed to the front line."
"Thank you, Judge Olivia." Xu Feng placed his right hand on his chest and bowed.
"If possible, please deploy me to Bardmon City. I understand the terrain there better and would stand a higher chance of repelling the Colossus."
"Bardmon City?" Olivia raised an eyebrow. Based on her memory, it was located at the middle intersection point between the outer and inner defensive lines.
While she didn’t know why he wanted this place, she found no reason to reject it.
"Alright, that will be arranged in a few days." She readily agreed and wished to end the discussion. The information she received was critical, and she must get an audience with the emperor to discuss their next strategy.
’Heh, Razor Technology, right? Isn’t your base city in Bardmon City? Let’s see if you’re ready to serve the king.’ Xu Feng sneered inwardly.
