Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 1073: Canary Trap

Chapter 1073: Canary Trap

To those unfamiliar with the term, canary trap, it was essentially a method used by others to purposely expose an information leak by giving different versions of sensitive documents to each of the several suspects.

If any of the versions gets leaked, then they would instantly know who the culprit was.

Naturally, such sensitive documents or contents were mostly false and had no impact on their organization. It was only made to sound important and very vital to provoke the suspects to leak it out.

Veronica’s expression changed slightly when Blue Star raised her concern that whatever Benson received might be one of the fake information.

Even Dark Night was left flabbergasted as he had neglected such a possibility.

"You’re right, Blue Star." He turned to her and said, "I didn’t expect there was this possibility. If the information was indeed false, then whatever Benson sent could not be taken seriously."

Although Dark Night said it like that, it was hard to outright ignore the information that contained information about when the Necro Alliance would make a move.

It was one thing for the information to be false, but another thing if the information turned out to be true and they failed to defend or react properly to the attack.

Left in a rather steep predicament, the meeting room turned dead silent.

The trio was silently pondering the possibility and wondering what options they had.𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

"How about we request the Guild Commander to clear the perimeter in one fell swoop?" Blue Star suddenly suggested. "We can have her increase the range of the perimeter and unleash a killing spree. Everyone knows about the Guild Commander’s feat, so it shouldn’t rouse any suspicions."

"That is indeed viable." Dark Night nodded his head.

Even at this moment, Carmen was grinding monsters and occasionally eliminating suspicious players who were near the Haven Wind Town.

With how populous the town had become and the large amount of profit gained, many guilds were seething with envy and jealousy.

Veronica also found Blue Star’s solution quite logical, but felt something was amiss. Her instinct was screaming at her that things weren’t this simple.

Instead, there must be something that she had neglected or failed to detect. As for what it was, she couldn’t figure it out.

’The Guild Leader entrusted me with this task. I can’t possibly keep asking him to help me out.’ Veronica didn’t wish to disturb Xu Feng when she knew he was undergoing some special type of missions. She was placed in such a high position and given much authority precisely for this kind of situation.

Although she was afraid of failure and making things worse, Xu Feng had already said in advance that whatever storm came from her action, he would brace through it for her.

Xu Feng understood leadership didn’t simply mean textbook knowledge.

Instead, one could only gain true leadership through practical experience.

So what if you failed in the end?

It was not the end of the world as long as he remained alive. Back then, Xu Feng also faced repeated failures and was on the verge of giving up. But he still gritted his teeth and pushed forward.

He had relayed much of his experience and even his emotional state to Veronica before handing over the responsibility to her.

So whenever there was a major decision to make, Veronica would always refer to that moment and take a deep breath to calm down.

"I will take note of Blue Star’s solution. But for now, I don’t wish to have Lunar Wraith become a cleaner." Veronica calmly said.

A cleaner referred to cleaning up the nearby players who were clearly hostile to them. This type of job could be done by their own elite members who finished their training in the Training Hall.

There was no need to deploy Carmen for some small fries. Not only would it make them look desperate, but it would also create an illusion to others that their Vanguard Guild lacked elites.

"Yes, I understand." Blue Star was not disheartened by the subtle rejection.

She wasn’t the type to seek honor or glory. She merely wanted the best for the Vanguard Guild, and it was obvious Veronica had more experience than her in this aspect.

Sometime later, Veronica dismissed the two and proceeded to privately message OneManMedia to investigate the Necro Alliance.

In terms of intelligence networks, OneManMedia was the expert. Having worked as a paparazzi reporter, he knew exactly how to hide himself and snap critical photos.

Besides him, there were also multiple helpers who could assist him, such as DataSeer, Carlton, and Rodney.

Once she finished her task, Veronica pinched the bridge between her brows. "First, there’s this Illuminati, and now there’s an organization called the Necro Alliance. Where are all these people popping up from?"

She was seriously frustrated by all these random bastards popping up from left and right. It was as if there was no end to them, or they were summoned by some dumb plot device determined to hinder their progress.

While Veronica continued to curse Xu Feng silently in her mind for the insane workload, back at the Phantasm Sea, Xu Feng himself wasn’t faring well either.

’Shit, which bastard cursed me and got my concealment ruined?’ Xu Feng gnashed his teeth and swam with all his might. He only had one request left to do in his mission.

But right when he was about to complete it, some dumb sea monsters decided to have a random competition to show off their skills.

And one of them just so happened to be at the item he needed to retrieve, and the residue undid his concealment.

Without the concealment effect, these sea monsters were like a bunch of hungry bees who had seen honey.

Xu Feng hurriedly retrieved the final item and swung his legs to propel himself forward. As he swam, Xu Feng started to launch some AoE spells in hopes of distracting or deterring the sea monsters.

Unfortunately, they were ineffective as the sea monsters straight up ignored the spells and tanked them like it was nothing.

’Great, so you’re not afraid of them but afraid of bubbles?’ He pursed his lips in frustration. His streak of terrible luck was truly hammering him down.
