Chapter 1072: Swimming Everywhere
Chapter 1072: Swimming Everywhere
Swimming along the Phantasm Sea despite the swim boost, Xu Feng found his stamina constantly running low and requiring rest.
Along the way, he made numerous detours to avoid clashing with the sea monsters.
Just like Arthur had stated previously, he was concealed, but not invisible.
These sea monsters were complete lunatics. They would sometimes just shoot and attack at nothingness to vent or for fun.
Had Xu Feng not reacted fast enough, he would have been hit by the impact. ’They are corrupted by the abyssal tide, so maybe they are prone to violence.’
Now that he had some gist of their understanding, Xu Feng reckoned their aggression stemmed from the abyssal tide.
In a sense, these sea monsters were also the product of the civil war, according to the mural he had read.
They were just living in the Phantasm Sea, but like all powerful individuals who believed they were above everyone else. They decided to ruin the peaceful environment for their selfish desire and caused numerous disasters to the innocents.
Although Xu Feng sympathized with them, he was also quite the hypocrite himself. The sea monsters were no longer conscious of their original self and were just living with an empty shell. Hence, his killing of them could be considered a sense of relief from their suffering.
Of course, that was just his thought and opinion. There were bound to be some who disagreed with him and called him vile.
The topic itself was controversial, and Xu Feng was no saint to be debating with anyone regarding it.
Sometime later, Xu Feng swam toward a seaweed grass-like substance and found the small pearl that Joy was talking about.
’Indeed, the scale of the Phantasm Fish was unique.’ Without the resonance of the scale, he wouldn’t have been able to discover the small pearl. The pearl was translucent and nearly impossible to detect.
Recovering the small pearl, Xu Feng proceeded to open his mission tab. As he gave a checkmark on Joy’s mission, he took another glance at the tab. There were still a little bit over 30 missions left for him to complete.
While Xu Feng steeled himself to become an Olympic Swimmer, striving for that covetable gold medal, back at Haven Wind Town, another new event occurred.
Haven Wind Town, Town Hall
"Guild Captain, we have investigated the bounty players’ intention after Benson infiltrated their ranks." Dark Night cupped his fist and reported to Veronica.
"Wait a second?" Blue Star, who stood on the right side, raised an eyebrow and appeared to be visibly in shock.
"What do you mean by Benson infiltrating their rank?" She questioned, clearly dumbfounded by this news.
"Oh, you didn’t know?" Startled, Dark Night didn’t expect Blue Star to be kept in the dark regarding Benson’s infiltration.
"Benson wanted redemption, and almost everyone knew about his state." At this moment, Veronica chimed in and explained the situation to Blue Star.
"Since Benson was willing to do anything to regain his position, I gave him a mission to infiltrate the bounty players."𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Realization quickly dawned upon Blue Star.
"Right... Benson’s position is in jeopardy and somewhat isolated from the guild. If the enemies were truly targeting us, then having him as their spy would be very beneficial." Blue Star commented. She was quite astonished that her Guild Captain was so resourceful in scheming and planting spies.
Not a single person would doubt Benson’s intention of betrayal if they were to investigate his situation.
From a respected elite member to an outcast and a joke in the Vanguard Guild. It was clear that some resentment should be there.
And if one continued to have negative thoughts, the resentment would soon turn into anger and desire for revenge.
Moreover, outsiders never knew that Benson might have been treated like an outcast, but in reality, he was still enjoying his original benefits without any changes.
Therefore, the outsiders wouldn’t know that not only did Benson hold zero resentment toward the guild, but he was also very grateful to them.
The Guild Leader had repeatedly emphasized that they should never treat their members harshly if they were to commit an unintentional mistake. Punishment must still be issued to deceive the public, but there was no need for persecution.
After all, Xu Feng himself had been in their shoes once and understood the feelings of being neglected if one mistake were made.
Humans weren’t robots.
They have emotions and would commit mistakes whether they wished to or not.
"Anyway, now that Blue Star is updated, what did Benson investigate?" Veronica clasped her hands and inquired.
"Yes, the investigation from Benson confirmed that it wasn’t the doing of the Illuminati. Instead, it seemed to be a group known as the Necro Alliance who gathered in hopes of taking over our town to create a haven for the bounty tag players." Dark Night reported.
"Necro Alliance?" Amused, Veronica never even heard of such an alliance.
Yet they had the nerve to eye their Vanguard Guild’s town and wanted to overtake it for their own base?
There was a limit to how much one could daydream!
"Is this Necro Alliance very united or just a bunch of villains gathering in their selfish desire?" If it were just a bunch of unorganized players gathering, then they weren’t even considered a threat to begin with.
It was the equivalent of a group that was all bark and no bite.
Dark Night’s expression turned slightly grim upon hearing the question.
"According to what Benson discovered, the group of players appeared very organized under someone’s leadership. As for who it was, Benson was too low-ranked and still on probation to be granted such information." He relayed the news.
Afterward, he gave his own input. "I have a feeling that this Necro Alliance is purposely feeding Benson with this information to throw us off the trail. Even if they believe Benson could be a useful pawn against us, I doubt they would be very trusting of Benson in a short span of time."
Nodding in agreement, Blue Star said, "I may have just learned of this information now, but even I would be cautious about roping an enemy’s person over without any guards up. This could be a canary trap."
