Chapter 1821: Aftermath
Chapter 1821: Aftermath
—–
“Ah!”
Shade’s eyes widened as he suddenly woke up. He looked around, realizing that the sun was setting on the horizon. He found himself surrounded by vegetation, forests, grasslands, and flowers.
“What?”
He quickly stood up, feeling exhausted. He was sure his body had taken immense damage, to the point of nearly dying, but his Divine Protection saved him from certain death.
“T-That explosion…”
As he walked through the forest while still feeling weak, his eyes widened, realizing what could have happened to the rest.
Their battle against Armageddon pushed them to their very limits, allowing them to use every single inch of power they had, without holding back.
Thanks to the amount of cultivation and training they had gone through, he and Nepheline were able to fight back even against a divine being such as Armageddon and corner her.
However, even with all their divine power, they knew that Armageddon was stronger than both of them, and that their elements were simply not a good match against her divinity.
Hence, they left the job of beating her down and finishing her to their daughter and her friends, especially to Agua and the Oasis Spirit.
And it seemed to have worked just fine, but in the end, out of nowhere, a huge explosion occurred as Armageddon was about to be defeated, blowing up the entire Divine Spirit Domain.
The intensity of the explosion was so massive that Shade, in his last moments of consciousness, grabbed Nepheline and encompassed her in his shadows, trying to save her.
However, the explosion was much stronger…
“We died…”
He gripped his fists tightly, realizing that if it weren’t for the blessings of the gods, they would’ve died… again, just like what happened when they fought the Demon King.
“Nepheline… Aquarina!”
He quickly started calling their names, gripping his fists tightly while growing more and more worried. His face was filled with despair.
“Please…! Please be safe…!”
He started falling into sorrow and despair, thinking the worst. After having come this far, Shade didn’t want to lose everything again, not after all he had done to get to this point.
Not after everything he had suffered, not after everything he had gone through…
“Ah…!”
His eyes widened when he noticed a leg behind a tree. He ran there, finding his wife, Nepheline. She looked bruised and exhausted, but she was alive.
“Nepheline! Hey!”
He hugged her, quickly trying to wake her up. Nepheline slowly opened her eyes, looking sleepy and tired. Shade took out an Elixir from his shadow dimension storage. She looked too tired to even drink it, so he rapidly drank part of it and fed it to her through a kiss.
“Hmm… Haa…”
Nepheline slowly opened her eyes, still looking sleepy, looking at Shade with a cute smile. Despite how rough and confident she was most of the time, despite how she might appear manly to most, she was still Shade’s beloved damsel.
“Shade…?”
“Yes, I’m here.”
Shade hugged her tightly as Nepheline felt weak, a strange, annoying feeling, but as Shade hugged her and made her feel comforted and loved, she slowly calmed down.
“Are you feeling better?”
“I… I’m a bit… tired… I can hardly move. Ugh… every muscle and bone in my body aches… Just what happened? Didn’t we win?”
“We… I think we did.”
Shade and Nepheline looked around, more confused than anything. They were still trying to figure out just what exactly happened, such as…
“Why is there a forest here? What happened? I thought this was a desert place?”
“After that huge explosion, somehow we woke up here, in this forest… it appeared out of nowhere.”
“Wait, what? How is that even possible to begin with?”
“I have no idea, but I think it might be related to that Spirit God dying and its energy being released… we’ll have to investigate later.”
“R-Right, we have to find Aquarina and her friends first… Wait, do you think they’re okay?!”
“I am just as worried as you are, but I think I felt her presence… let’s go.”
Shade and Nepheline made their way through the forest, realizing just how lively and beautiful it was, filled with so much greenery. It even had a few rivers and a small lake, the water being generated from huge water spirit crystals in the forest.
“Aquarina? Aquarina! Are you there?” Nepheline called for her daughter.
“Aquarina!” Shade called. “I… I think she’s over there. I sense a faint spirit presence. It might be her spirits trying to call to us.”
“Really?” Nepheline asked as she ran there with Shade right behind her.
They ran through a corridor surrounded by blue- and azure-colored crystals and then walked around these huge crystals, finding her.
She was unconscious, sleeping right next to a big tree surrounded by green, red, and blue crystals. They were all spirit crystals of the elements of Nature, Fire, and Water, respectively.
“Aquarina!” Nepheline cried tears of happiness, running toward her daughter and hugging her. “Are you okay? Hey! Aquarina!”
“Calm down, she’s fine, just very tired,” Shade said. “I can tell her spirits are also asleep, but I think Undine still tried to call to us.”
“I guess she was in good hands… but what about her friends?” Nepheline looked really concerned. “The kids… D-Don’t tell me they…?”
“It’s too soon to say that for sure. Let’s start searching first…” Shade said. “No, I’ll just do it on my own. Stay by Aquarina’s side and feed her this Elixir, just the same way I did for you.”
“Oh, alright…” Nepheline nodded, drinking the elixir and feeding it to her daughter, who slowly regained consciousness as she drank it.
“Hmm? Mom…? Ugh?!” Aquarina quickly looked disgusted as she pushed her mother’s lips away from hers. “Why were you kissing me? Cough…”
“I was just feeding you an elixir, you brat! And what’s wrong with kissing my daughter? You used to kiss me on the lips all the time when you were a baby,” sighed Nepheline, crossing her arms and then smiling. “But I’m happy you’re alright… I was so worried…”
