Chapter 1822: Returning As Heroes
Chapter 1822: Returning As Heroes
—–
After finding her daughter, feeding her an Elixir, and waking her up, Nepheline quickly hugged Aquarina again, very tightly, almost asphyxiating her daughter, but Aquarina only let out a little groan, looking rather confused and tired herself, but also happy that her mother had found her.
“Mom… I was also worried… Ugh, just what happened here? A whole forest and crystals…” Aquarina sort of knew what might have caused this but didn’t want to voice it.
“I think this was caused by the Divine Spirit Realm of that monster exploding…” Nepheline said. “Your father went to find your friends, so let’s hope for the best…”
“Y-Yeah…” Aquarina sighed, feeling tired and sleepy again. “Ugh…”
She slowly rested her head on her mother’s shoulder, closing her eyes and falling asleep once more. Nepheline smiled, caressing her daughter’s head and kissing her forehead while letting her rest.
“I’m back… I found them.”
Shade walked back after half an hour of searching, bringing all the kids with him, Silvia, Justicio, Agua, and Quetzal within his shadows.
“They seem to be better than us. I think Aquarina had just shielded them from the whole explosion…” Shade said.
“Wait, what?” Nepheline was shocked. “So that means she…”
“Yeah, she would’ve died without the divine protection…” Shade nodded, looking angry. “That was a nasty goodbye gift from that damn monster, exploding everything it had so we wouldn’t be able to win fair and square… But it’s gone now, thankfully. Aquarina, I’m glad you’re awake.”
“Dad!” Aquarina said happily. “I would hug you, but I can’t even move…” She had woken up just recently from a short nap.
“That’s fine. Nepheline, can you carry her?” Shade asked.
“Of course, she’s my little princess, after all,” Nepheline said, as her daughter blushed in embarrassment, being carried by her much larger mother.
“T-This is embarrassing, mom…” Aquarina said. “I’m not a kid anymore…”
“I know, but this is necessary. You almost died, after all,” Nepheline said. “You’ll need lots of rest from now on, alright?”
“…Alright,” Aquarina yawned, as she fell asleep once more in her mother’s arms.
Shade and Nepheline made their way back to the Oasis Village, where the people greeted them like heroes. Although her friends remained asleep no matter the noise, Aquarina would sometimes wake up from all the commotion outside, noticing the people celebrating their return.
“Our heroes…”
“Thank you, thank you so much for everything you’ve done…”
“They defeated the evil fire ant queen and destroyed the nest!”
“I heard it had become some sort of evil god…”
“Incredible…!”
“Hurray!”
“We will be forever and eternally grateful…!”
“Ah, thank you, thank you…” Nepheline smiled.
“It was hard… The children are okay, thankfully,” Shade said. “Could we receive some help, though? They’re still unconscious.”
He quickly laid them on the grassy ground. All four of them seemed to be alright, but unconscious. Aguarapida, the chief of the village, ran toward her daughter, kneeling in front of her and hugging her.
“Agua! Oh, Agua, I was so worried! Are you okay? Dear?!”
“Hmm…”
Agua seemed unable to wake up yet, but made a little groan, making her mother sigh in relief, carrying her back home, not without giving another order to the rest of the villagers.
“Please help us bring them to my house. We’ll treat them there until they can finally wake up.”
“Yes!”
The people quickly started moving, bringing the young heroes back to Agua’s home, where they were placed on beds and healed with powerful Water-Attribute Healing Spells from the strongest magicians and shamans available.
“Alright, there you go, dear,” Nepheline said, placing Aquarina on her bed. She looked very sleepy.
Agua’s home was the biggest house in this village, and it had plenty of rooms for guests, so she had already been given a room she could live in whenever she wanted, although Aquarina still missed her house back in Everstone, and even more, her house back in Agartha, where she felt she truly belonged.
“Thank you, mom…” Aquarina yawned, looking very tired. “I’m… I think I’ll sleep again…”
“That’s fine,” Shade said. “We can talk more once you wake up. Please make sure to rest well.”
Her mother kissed her forehead and then her nose, and walked away, closing the door with her father.
Although there was still a lot of commotion outside, Aquarina smiled, feeling relieved that things had ended well and everyone was safe.
But at the same time, she couldn’t quite shake her thoughts about Sylphy, and how she had ended up saving her.
“Ugh, I miss… I miss my girlfriend…”
As she was about to fall asleep, she noticed some System Notifications appearing in front of her.
