Reincarnated Hero System

Chapter 765 - 765: ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors’ is a Sacred Game.

Laurene, revealing that her Spell Casting hadn’t actually been broken, but ‘Paused’, continued her chant and launched the Nuclear Magic at him, while David came in and delivered another hit to damage him even further, weakening him to the point where Laurene could deal the final blow despite the 125 Level difference between them.

On a side note, the ability to ‘Pause’ Spell Incantations and ‘Resume’ them at one’s convenience was one of the abilities of Laurene’s Magic Catalyst: Venus.

Now then, you’d probably be curious about a very important part of the plan the three Heroes used to take out this Level 620.

The reason why there were two Evans in the first place.

The answer to that Lay in his Mystic Eyes.

With Mystic Eyes of Mimicry Stage 4, Evan could now Mimic Himself.

◇ ◇ ◇

A few moments after Evan deactivated his ‘Factor Mimic’, Laurene was about to ask what they’d do with the remaining Demonic Hand grunts scattered across the Dimensional Realm City when the entire realm suddenly trembled heavily.

“That didn’t sound good…”

“No shit.”

Laurene responded to Evan as she gazed around with her Mystic Eyes, trying to find the reason for the sudden trembling.

When her gaze reached the faux sky of the Dimensional Realm, her brow twitched and she called out to Evan.

“Since when could your flames burn space?”

“Huh? But they can’t…”

Evan replied with a confused look on his face, before continuing after a moment.

“The only thing I have that can harm space itself is my Destruction Essence.”

“Well, whatever it is, it’s been eating away at this Dimension’s barrier since you used it to break us in here.”

Laurene’s gaze moved around as she continued speaking.

“And now, we just killed the person who was technically the owner of this Realm, so without his presence to stabilize it, your destruction essence is running wild and is devouring this Realm’s barrier.

It’d soon collapse into a spatial crunch which would end up taking the entire island along with it.”

Hearing it, Evan nodded and said it was going to make sure the remaining members who were hiding from them were going to die. Looking at her, he questioned.

“How long do we have?”

“60.”

Evan and David tilted their heads in confusion upon hearing the number.

“60 what?”

Laurene glanced at them for a moment, before turning around and saying.

“59.”

Immediately after she said that, she kicked off the ground and dashed towards the giant crack Evan had created in the barrier at sonic speed.

“”Wait, what?!””

David and Evan quickly understood exactly what it was she meant by that and without hesitation, they kicked off the ground and dashed forward as well.

With the three Heroes suddenly running out of the Dimensional Realm, the Demonic Hand members in hiding were confused, but when they felt the realm tremble suddenly, some figured it might be on the verge of collapse.

Outside, Evan, Laurene and David put their Dive skills to full use, shooting through the water like torpedoes and jumping out on land, before proceeding to buff themselves as much as possible as they raced towards the edge of the island.

Evan had even activated Limit Break for a few moments while Laurene used every support spell she knew on her and David.

**DOOONN!!!

Hearing that loud sound, Laurene glanced at her back and the sight she saw nearly made her trip and fall. Thankfully, David caught her before she could and helped her stabilize herself.

The boy wanted to turn to see what had distracted her but Laurene stopped him with a fearful expression.

“Don’t look back!”

This got Evan and David even more curious, but they certainly didn’t want to be the cats that got killed by curiosity, because in this case, there wouldn’t be any satisfaction to bring them back!

As they ran at supersonic speed, the trio reached the edge of the island, their hearts pounding with adrenaline.

With a synchronized leap, they soared into the air, crashing into the ocean waters below with such force that geysers erupted and mini tsunamis surged towards the nearby beach.

Emerging from the depths, their bodies drenched and clothes clinging to their skin, they beheld a sight that filled them with awe and dread.

A gigantic spatial crack stretched across the horizon, its ominous presence casting a shadow over the ocean. Waves of spatial energy surged from the rift, engulfing the island in a shimmering glow.

They could see the mountains at the centre of the island crumbling silently as the Dimensional Realm which was already collapsing was pulling in everything nearby.

As they watched in stunned silence, the island began to shrink, its large form diminishing as it was inexorably drawn into the collapsing realm.

With a deafening roar, the dimensional realm imploded, unleashing a cataclysmic explosion of power that reverberated across the seas and onto land, reaching those dozens of kilometres away.

When the dust settled, all that remained were floating rocks, the remnants of an island swallowed by the void of the dimensional crack.

The trio exchanged solemn glances in silence which was eventually broken by Laurene.

“So…which one of us is gonna explain to the King of Wechil why one of his Islands got blown up?”

“…”

“…”

At that moment, all three of them shared an understanding. Simultaneously, they put forth their right hands balled into fists and echoed the same words.

“””Rock, paper, scissors!!!”””

“Yes!”

“Haha!”

“But WHY?!”

Their tournament ended with David’s loss, and the Lion Beastman lamented as he had now been saddled with the burden of dealing with the aftermath.

“Good luck, Dave.”

“Your sacrifice would be remembered.”

“Shut the fuck up!”

Evan and Laurene laughed at David as they quickly swam away to avoid getting caught up in his outburst, zooming over to a deserted part of the shore in a few minutes.

“That space is still messed up…”

Laurene muttered as she stared at the ruins of the island, and Evan turned, seeing nothing wrong but a few Distortions.

“Of course, you’d only see a few distortions.”

She placed her hand on Evan’s back and her Mystic Eyes glowed brighter than normal as she spoke.

[I grant you the Privilege of Truth.]

Hearing her words, both Evan and David were shocked; because what Laurene had just used was a Stage 4 ability of her Mystic Eyes.

The issue here was the fact that she was still Stage 3!

“How ar—?!”

Evan’s words cut off midway as his left eye transformed very slightly. A hint of blue was infused into the gold of his Mystic Eyes and he saw the World through Laurene’s eyes.

“…”

He was shocked into silence by what he saw, even if it was for a mere 5 seconds before Laurene could not maintain it anymore.

At that moment, the boy had a newfound respect for Laurene, realising that this was what she saw whenever she activated her Mystic Eyes.

He also understood why Laurene had been scared when they were running from the Dimensional Realm crack.

Although the space where the Island was looked normal except for a few distortions, in Laurene’s eyes, it was anything but that.

It was as if something had gouged a portion of reality itself out from that place and all that was there was a dark eerie void which was slowly being covered up by the scene he perceived with his normal eyes.

He had seen how the damage dealt to the Planet’s fabric of space by the explosion was being healed.

“Damn. Laurene, how’d you deal with this all day?”

“Low Power Mode…eases the stress on my brain.”

The girl replied as she downed a magic potion to replenish her energy before sitting on a nearby rock and continuing.

“Anyway, all those guys are as dead as could be. I’d say we did a good job.”

“Indeed, we did.”

Evan replied and held out his hand to high-five Laurene and David as he said that.

However, when his palm came in contact with Laurene’s, he didn’t pull back and instead intertwined his fingers with hers much to her confusion.

“Laurene, you’re level 499 now, aren’t you?”

“?!”

Immediately, Laurene realised why Evan had said that and her face rapidly paled. Faster than she could pull her other hand away from David, he grabbed it with his two arms, holding her in a tight grip.

“Guys…let go of me…”

Laurene wanted to use magic to blow them away, but David just smiled and activated his Mystic Eyes, reminding her how much of a bad idea magic was.

The girl was a Peak Grandmaster, with physical strength enough to destroy a certain ‘State Empire’ building with her bare hands.

But compared to a Warrior-type Combatant who had greater Strength stat like David, or an All-Rounder like Evan, Laurene’s strength wasn’t anything to write home about.

David even used Mana Burn on her, depleting her magic power so she couldn’t even cast magic to enable herself to run!

Even if she tried using Divinity, the end result was not going to be much different.

“I suffered in the Cavern of Trials to break past Level 500, there’s no way I’d let you escape your share of the suffering.”
