Chapter 1771: The Silent Room
Chapter 1771: The Silent Room
A woman took a deep sniff of the air.
“I smell all 3 of them there. Send more of your people there. The girl is no doubt within those rooms.”
Her words had sent the earlier assassins there, but they had seen two die in when something glowed on top of that roof, and then a bright ball of fire had killed the third. No one knew what happened to the others, but the roof was dangerous.
So, most entered the rooms below.
6 broke in through the windows. 2 walked in through the wall. 3 went inside through the door. And 2 simply teleported in.
7 remained outside to aid if needed, and to stop more from going in.
“They’re here!” one man shouted when he heard the sound of someone approaching, but his voice immediately vanished as soon as it start.
Matthew and Shara turned toward the sound, only to realize that they could hear nothing else at all. Everything had grown far too quiet. Eerily so.
Matthew turned around to say something, only to realize he couldn’t make any sound either. All sound had vanished from the room. He immediately turned around, searching for anyone he could see.
The fighters from Matthew’s army prepared the same.
Someone rushed in first, dodging a sword swing. He slapped onto a man and the man sudden disappeared from the room.
Another man walked in, no different than a shadow itself, and rushed toward Shara to kill her.
Matthew acted immediately, moving next to Shara in an unbelieveably fast speed, before punching at the shadow. Surprisingly, he managed to hit the shadow, knocking it to the ground, which then turned into a regular man in assassin clothing.
Shara shook him from behind, saying something to him. But the room was far too dark for him to even make out the words from her lips. Matthew had to act all on his own.
He saw something move from the side of his eyes and frowned as he couldn’t see anything there at all. However, when he looked away, he saw something move in that direction once again.
Without questioning his sense, Mathtew suddenly let out his other two arms and pulled on the blue bow he had hidden until this point. The moment it was drawn to the fullest, an arrow formed, made entirely of hot air.
When he let it go, it struck the wall where he had seen something move.
The wall was struck open by the strike and a man appeared from the wall, falling to the ground with severe burns all across his skins. He screamed, but no one could hear it at all.
Shara looked toward the assassin that was constantly making their people disappear. She didn’t know what it was that he did, but she knew he needed to be stopped.
She took the golden spear and tossed it toward the man as fast as she could to catch him off-guard, but the man seemed to have seen in coming.
He moved aside at the last moment and let the spear strike the wall behind him. He grinned and flicked on the end of the spear, making it disappear as well.
He moved toward Matthew next, intending to make him disappear before eh could turned toward him, but as he approached, Shara raised her arm once again and the golden spear returned to her hand.
The man’s eyes widened, unable to understand why the spear was there once again. But as he looked at it, the glorious design, it was clear enough that it was a Spirit Artifact.
Shara threw the spear at him again, which the man dodged as he moved back. He tried to make it go away again, but before he could, the spear teleported back to Shara.
This time, however, she did not act.
Matthew had already turned toward him and pulled his bow.
The hot arrow struck the assassin, immediately killed him as it burned his body with incredibly hot gas.
Shara looked at the people around her, trying to see if anyone was in trouble. She wanted to help, but before she did, she felt something from behind her.
She turned around just as a dagger came for her back. At the same time, her entire body turned intangible and the dagger passed through her flesh, without even making a cut.
She came out of her phasing and grabbed the man’s arm with her left hand, before grabbing his neck with her right hand. Then, she began using one of the special skills of a Reaper.
Spectral Binding.
She drew on whatever power the man had and placed it into the closest object she could find at that moment, which was the dagger. Matthew protected her as she converted the man’s energy into the object.
The simple dagger glowed bright, its blade swirling with colors while its handle brought on various green pattern. As she continued drawing on the man’s powers, the dagger continue to change in patter and color until it finally stopped, landing on a magenta colored dagger with deep ridges, and a blade that was unbelieveably sharp.
She easily forced the dagger out of the incredibly weakened man and stabbed it into his body. She then activated the power of the dagger, trying to see what it was that it could do.
The moment she activated the dagger inside of the man’s chest, his body suddenly started squirming while the tip of the dagger began absorbing everything from the man into the blade.
It took a few seconds, but when it was done, the man was completely gone, and all that remained were his clothes.
Shara’s eyes widened in shock as she didn’t know what she had just done. But, strangely enough, she could tell something. Whatever she had done, she had charged this new dagger, and if she wished to, she could now make something else happen with it.
Shara turned around and chose to try out the dagger’s power on a foe instead of a friend.
She saw the assassin getting close to her and used it.
