Chapter 1772: Dead Assassins
Chapter 1772: Dead Assassins
As Shara pointed the dagger in the direction of the approaching assassin, the dagger suddenly spit out pale green flames that wrapped around the man.
The assassin’s body suddenly floated off the ground while his hands and legs scrambled to find something to grab onto as pain filled his body.
The assassin’s figure distorted as flesh grew on different parts of his body, slowly making his figure bulge.
Shara watched in absolute horror as she realized that the body she had made disappear with the dagger had been pushed into this other assassin, who could not possibly handle it at all.
When the flames vanished, a mess of flesh and bones fell to the ground, squirming as that was the only thing they could do. Shara could only imagine the screams right now, but alas, there was no sound in the room yet.
Matthew paused for a second to look at the horrifying sight before pulling his eyes away and continuing the fight. He pulled on his bow, shooting at another one of the assassins that had managed to kill another one of his men.
His eyes flickered to the ceiling and his body immediately moved to the side as an assassin dropped from above.
The assassin was fast, but Matthew was infinitely faster. He had a portion of the speed of nearly 8,000 powerful undeads. He could move at a speed that normal people could not comprehend.
His body moved to the side, almost as if it had teleported. It left behind a vacuum that sucked in the assassin, and the next thing he knew, a sword cut through his neck.
Shara took a moment to survey the situation, to see where she needed to put her focus next. They had killed half a dozen assassins by now, but there were more. Three were fighting the other guards in the room that remained, while four more approached her and Matthew.
Shara prepared to fight them when she noticed movement from the corner of her eyes. A mouse had run along the corner of the room and appeared before her.
Shara had just noticed it when the mouse’s form changed, turning into a man with a long dagger coming directly for Shara.
Shara’s hands moved before she could even think of going intangible. The spear in her arms struck the dagger to the side and moved straight for his throat.
The assassin suddenly changed his form into a mouse again, dodging the attack barely.
Shara threw the spear toward the mouse, but it managed to dodge it. She turned around immediately as one of the assassins came toward her with an open palm.
Shara let him grab her.
The man choked Shara in an attempt to kill her, but his eyes were wide as he couldn’t do anything more than that. He had a power he wished to use on her, but no power could affect a Reaper.
The spear teleported back to Shara’s hands and she stabbed it through the man’s chest. As the man released his grasp, Shara kicked him away and had the spear teleport back into her hand again.
The next assassin arrived at the same time with a dagger, and this time she turned intangible. The man’s arm passed through her entirely as Shara stepped behind him before turning corporeal and stabbed him in the back with a dagger.
The man screamed, and as he did, the sound in the room returned. His screams were bone-chilling, far surpassing the sounds of metal clashing and men grunting.
As his screams vanished, so did the man. When he was fully gone, Shara pointed the dagger toward the mouse that was running away and activated it.
Green flames grabbed the mouse instantly, as it attached the body of the previous man into him. While the man was still a mouse, an entire new body grew out from him, with no organs, bones, or muscles in the right place either.
What formed in the end was a monster that should not exist. The pitiful man died as a mouse, his body only then turning back to a human.
Shara turned toward Matthew and saw him effortlessly fighting two assassins at once, killing off one of them before decapitating the other.
He turned around, pulled on his bow. “Men, get down!”
As his orders left, the men who were fighting the assassins immediately got down.
The assassins heard the call as well and scrambled to move away, but one of them failed to do so quickly enough.
The scorching hot arrow slammed into the man, killing him instantly before destroying a hole in the wall. The other two assassins ran away, but a ball of fire came from the side, landing on one of the assassins.
For the other assassin, Ning himself jumped down onto him, stabbing him through the back as he landed there. As he pulled the spear from the dead assassin, he looked to the side as Shara and Matthew made their way toward him.
Shara looked down the destroyed walls and saw the ground below littered with at least half a dozen other corpses.
Ning turned toward Shara. “Use your power. Now!” he shouted.
“What?” Shara didn’t know what Ning meant, but she did as he asked, turning intangible at the same time. Nothing happened for a few seconds, but then a flash of light passed through Shara, destroying a portion of the wall in the back.
Matthew immediately hid behind the remaining wall and screamed, “Sharpshooter!”
Ning reached out toward him. “Bow!”
Matthew threw the bow toward him at once and Ning turned in a certain direction, pulling on the bow. As the hot arrow gathered on the strings, he shot it.
The arrow flew in an arc and landed nearly 30 meters away on top of a roof where they heard the yell of a man as he fell to the ground.
Ning handed back the bow. “We should be safe,” he said. “But keep staying intangible whenever you are in full view from outside. We cannot tell where the assassins will come from.”
