Red Monster
Chapter 182: Ceaseless Battle (11)
The Kobold Challenger roared, swinging its arm, slapping the Fool’s chest. That single slap sent the Goblin Champion to the ground.
The Chief kept his axe on the shoulder, and his remaining hand moved toward the Kobold Challenger’s head. Its palm clenched into a fist. However, the Kobold Challenger reacted to it, catching the Chief’s fist.
Red didn’t miss the chance as the third arrow struck the Kobold Challenger’s left calf. Blood sprayed, and it lost its balance for a moment, weakening its strength.
The Chief raised his right foot, kicking the Kobold Challenger in the stomach. By this time, the Fool was back on its feet. He looked at the arrow on the left leg, then he went for the Kobold Challenger’s right thigh. He punched the thigh, but the Kobold Challenger didn’t budge.
The Fool followed with a kick right on the back of the knee. That forced the Kobold Challenger down on one knee.
The Chief raised his axe and swung it down right after. He intended to split its head, but the Kobold Challenger caught the Chief’s hand before the axe reached its head. It stopped the axe and managed to push it up, getting back on its feet again. The Chief took a few steps backward from the push.
It reached the axe, and it was about to swing it backward, trying to get the Fool. However, Red’s fourth arrow arrived, piercing the lower jaw. That gave the Fool time to grab the spear that was still stuck on the Kobold Challenger.
The Fool raised his spear, but the Kobold Challenger was already facing him. He intended to aim for the head but changed the target. He knew the spear would be blocked if he tried to get the head. His spear moved down, striking the Kobold Challenger’s left thigh.
The Kobold Challenger roared in pain, but it was already in motion. It endured the pain and was determined to kill the Fool. The Fool looked at the axe coming for him, and he didn’t have time to dodge it. He tried jerking backward, but his movement was too sluggish. He braced for the attack, but the attack never reached him.
The Chief was ready behind the Kobold Challenger. His axe was in the air, and he brought it down. The axe created a "whoosh" noise as it struck the Kobold Challenger’s right hand. The axe cut near the shoulder, cutting the entire arm off there.
The Kobold Challenger’s right arm fell, and he lost his grip on the axe. The axe was thrown past the Fool. Then the fifth arrow came, striking the right eye. Its roar resounded, echoing through the whole village.
The Chief was not idle, quickly kicking the Kobold Challenger’s back of the knees, forcing it to kneel. He held the Kobold Challenger’s head down with his left hand as he swung the axe with his right hand.
The axe cut through the neck as the roar instantly ceased. The Kobold Challenger’s body went limp and fell to the ground. The Chief raised the Kobold Challenger up into the air and roared. His deafening roar stopped the battle for a moment. That was when the Elite Kobold Fighters finally noticed their leader was dead.
The Fool grabbed the Kobold Challenger’s axe and also roared. He didn’t just roar; he rushed toward the Elite Kobold Fighters, raising his axe into the air. The Chief also followed the Fool closely after throwing the head down.
The next fight was a clean-up fight. The four Goblin Champions went on a rampage, a massacre. The Elite Kobold Fighters were not a match for the Goblin Champion.
Red thought of joining the clean-up, but then he noticed that they didn’t really need his help for it. With the Chief and the Fool joining the battle, the tide of battle turned quickly.
He turned around and noticed how a few normal kobolds climbed up the pit. But again, they didn’t have a weapon, and their hands were dirty. But then they saw what happened inside the village. Those kobolds lost their courage to continue the battle. They turned their backs and fled in the opposite direction.
The funny part was how a few of them tripped into the pit again, and only six of them managed to jump over the two pits.
Red thought of chasing them, but he decided not to. He better be quick to get his loot before the others bothered him. He pulled the crude leather from his waist and started to make his round, exchanging the loot.
Just like before, he only exchanged the elite kobolds for loot and left the normal kobolds for the others. He counted how many elite kobolds he killed and was surprised by the number.
He killed one hundred and one elite kobolds; more than half of them died under his fireball. Then around thirty of them died to his arrow. He didn’t forget to get his arrow back as well, though quite a lot of arrows broke apart. Those needed a full repair. A full repair would take a lot of his mana, so he chose to abandon the broken arrow.
Red finished counting his total kills on elite kobolds and didn’t forget to count his loot as well. He got 266 Mediocre Quality Cores from one hundred and one elite kobolds. It was a bigger harvest than the previous one. It was forty more cores with seventeen more kills.
Just like before, Red quickly entered the forest on the right side of the village this time. He didn’t bother with the trapped kobolds inside the pit, giving them to the hobgoblins to kill.
He picked a comfortable tree to sit on before opening his makeshift bag. A big pile of red and blue cores was right before him.
"It’s a pity that I don’t have any skills or maybe a class that I can use..." Red muttered.
He had seen the wonder of a class in Darla. He saw what the class did to Darla, and he wanted one for himself. Alas, the elite kobolds never dropped the class stone.
"Should I get the loot from that Kobold Challenger? I helped..."
There was a chance that the Kobold Challenger would drop a skill book or a skill scroll, even a class stone.
