Red Monster

Chapter 181: Ceaseless Battle (10)

  • Next Chapter

Red sniped the surviving Elite Kobold Fighters. He ignored the wounded, focusing on the healthy elite kobolds. His shooting became more precise; each arrow hit the head. Out of twenty shots, only three of them missed. Miss as in not hitting the head, not completely missing the target.

After the fire engulfed their backline, the Elite Kobold Fighters were pretty much scrambling around, trying to get into the village. They tried to run from him, not fighting him. That was how he used them as his training target.

He didn’t count how many he had killed so far, but he was confident that he had killed almost eighty elite kobolds, or maybe over eighty by now. The Elite Kobold Archers alone would be forty; his second fireball at least killed twenty of them and left many heavily injured on the ground. Then he almost used up all his arrows in his quiver, fifty-three arrows.

He was confident now that he had killed more than eighty elite kobolds. That was another big harvest, another four levels or maybe even five levels since his Magic Stats were on the threshold already. The issue was that the elite kobold gave him more Magic Cores than the Might Cores.

That was what created the unbalanced growth within his current stats.

"That was for me to figure out later," He muttered, shaking his head. He was about to shoot another arrow, but he noticed some of the normal kobolds had climbed the trap.

The normal kobolds, eleven of them, managed to climb the pit. They looked toward the village, then they looked at him. The distance between his current position and the pit was around fifteen paces. It was closer to him than the village.

It didn’t take long for the kobold to make the decision. They ran to him, unarmed. They threw their weapon to climb the pit, but it was foolish of them to rush to him with no weapon.

Red put the bow on his back as he grabbed the sword from his right. He was not going to waste his arrows on the normal kobolds, let alone his spears. So yeah, he would fight with his sword. Hopefully he would not get swept by his instinct again.

He didn’t wait for them to come, as he also rushed toward them. That was not even a fight; his sword sliced through their flesh before they got closer to him. That was a slaughter, as he was fighting normal kobolds with no weapon.

He killed the eleven normal kobolds as they offered no resistance. It was like he was fighting the goblins. More and more normal kobolds climbed up the pit, but not all of them had a weapon in their hands; a few of them kept their blades.

The normal kobolds swarmed him, but Red didn’t flinch. He fought for his ground, or maybe the right words were that he slaughtered his ground. Even without coating his sword with mana, his sword easily cut their leather armor and flesh. Their scales didn’t have much to offer, broken apart by his sword.

Kobolds’ bodies piled around him; most of the bodies were not intact. Most of them lost their heads; some of them had their bodies split.

The kobolds came to him non-stop. Their friend’s dead bodies were not enough to deter them, but their effort was futile. Red finished the slaughter within ten minutes. They posed no threat to the current Red.

He killed all the kobolds that could climb, and the remaining kobolds were trapped inside the pit. He approached the pit where the kobolds were trapped.

The kobolds froze when his head peeked into the pit, but that was just for a moment. The kobolds picked up their weapons, hurling them at him. Of course, that was just a last-ditch effort that bore no fruit.

The way they threw their weapons was clearly wrong, as the sword spun; most of them missed him even if he didn’t move. He took three steps backward, then they stopped.

Red looked into the village, where the main battle occurred. He wiped out the Elite Kobold Archers, and maybe killed a third of the Elite Kobold Fighters. He wondered how the battle went even after that.

Generally, the Hobgoblin was weaker than the elite kobolds. But they had the Goblin Champion to counter that. The issue was that the Chief might need a hand to kill the Kobold Challenger.

Red ignored the trapped kobolds and rushed into the village. He wanted to get his loot, but he was concerned about his allies. He still needed them to go through the war, after all.

The Chief and the Fool were ganging up on the Kobold Challenger. Observer and Reasonable were helping the hobgoblins to fight off the Elite Kobold Fighters.

He knew the Elite Kobold Fighters were stronger than the hobgoblins, but he was not expecting the gap to be that big. A lot of hobgoblins were dead. They had lost more than thirty hobgoblins already. That was what he could see from his position. There was a chance more hobgoblins were dead or underneath the Elite Kobold Fighter’s bodies.

He had two choices: helping the Chief to kill the Kobold Challenger, or helping the hobgoblins.

"Or maybe both!" He muttered, putting the sword to his right as he pulled the bow.

Red still had six arrows, and he would use them all on the Kobold Challenger. He coated the arrow with his mana and aimed at the Kobold Challenger.

The Kobold Challenger was having a hard time against two Goblin Champions. Its body accumulated a lot of wounds as its silver armor was cut open and pierced through. It had lost its helmet, exposing its head.

He would like to get the head right away, but he was reminded of how sharp Kobold Challenger’s instincts and reactions were. It might be able to dodge his arrow.

Red aimed at the body, the silver armor. He adjusted his bow, lowering his aim at the big body. Then he released the first shot. His first arrow shot through the air. He timed his shot when the Kobold Challenger was distracted.

However, as he expected, the Kobold Challenger turned toward the incoming arrow. It perceived the incoming attack, but that was actually perfect, as the Kobold Challenger was distracted; the Chief’s axe landed on its left shoulder.

As the axe cut through the silver armor, that stopped it from dodging his arrow. His arrow pierced the silver armor as it embedded into its left chest.

The Kobold Challenger swatted the axe with its hand as it roared in fury. Fool didn’t miss his chance as a spear pierced the Kobold Challenger’s back. Then the second arrow came, hitting the Kobold Challenger’s left thigh.
